  • I made this video after watching a few others just pull the seat out and call it a day...They forgot to mention they disabled their airbags in the process.
This video shows you how to remove the wiring harness and other bits from the passenger seat so that you can leave the passenger seat out and still have functional driver airbags.
Your results may vary, I've ran into a few vans where I had to apply pressure to the 2 sensors in order for the airbag module to stop throwing codes trouble codes. A scan tool that can read and clear airbag codes may be necessary. If the red airbag light is flashing or on all the time then your driver's airbags(3) may not work properly or not at all in a collision.
This applies to North American market vans.
I forgot to include that the resistor should be more permanently installed, soldered or source a dummy plug that is the same thing but just plugs in for a simpler install.

Great video, one of the only ones showing the actual steps of removing seat

This is giving me hope I can replace those sensors on my own 😅

Thanks for the video. I’ve got the dreaded airbag light blinking continuously in my NV200, and it keeps throwing a code B1018, so it appears I’ll have to replace the occupancy sensors. My biggest fear is the cold reset, which my mid-level scanner (Ancel FX2000) probably can’t do, but one challenge at a time.

My autel maxisys mini shows the option to do a zero point reset but when I try to do it I get a “conditions not met” message or some other type of error.

Where you able to fix your issue? I have the sensors in my shopping cart waiting to see if it will be worth it to try, just replaced the module piece, but still blinking 😅

@@atres_ Yes, it worked, but I had to do a Zero Point Reset to get the blinking stopped. Make sure you have access to a scanning tool that can do a ZPR.

Why does the stupid wiring diagram not show the air bag in the seat ? Clearly in the video we can see the yellow wiring going up into the seat back
So what was the resistance? 2-2.2ohms?

    Hello there,
I just bought an NV200 and after taking it for a car wash, the airbag warning light just came up. I have tried to reset it following instructions from Google but the warning does not go away. What might be the issue here?

Check for trouble codes, use a scan tool or have a shop do it for you.

What size sensors did you use? I think you said you would post the size. And where did you buy them from? Thanks.

I used either a 2ohm or 2.2 ohm 1/2 watt resistor iirc in place of the seat airbag.
NOT 2k ohm or 2.2k ohms. The sketchy way I found out was to measure resistance of the bag and bought a resistor that matched. It's tricky to do because when you unplug the bag there's often a jumper wire that shorts the two wires to prevent it from going off accidentally once unplugged.
I bought the resistors from an electrics specialty store. Had to buy a pack of 10 or so min. A place like Mouser electronics should have them.

What if I just want to turn my seat so it faces backwards what would I have to do

I haven't tried that. You might be able to just unbolt the seat, flip it around and bolt it back down but I wouldn't use it to carry passengers anymore.
