@@robinnorthrup8811 100% guaranteed the airbag light is on full time or flashing constantly, and the airbags and seatbelt pretensioner probably won't work in a collision. I've removed the seats in dozens of these vans and didn't disable the airbags. One was even totalled and the drivers airbags worked as designed. You have to pull the entire wiring harness and seat sensors from the seat, along with the occupancy sensor module, relocate it all(usually under the console), and then add a resistor or dummy plug where the seat airbag used to plug in. Sounds harder than it is, and it is reversible. The only problems I ran into was dealing with the seat sensors. Sometimes I had to bolt them together in a way that they have a little bit of pressure applied to them. I made a poor quality video showing how to do it.

I plan on buying an NV 200 eventually and the first thing I will do is remove the passenger seat. I realize with a modern vehicle even the seats have electronics (seat belt sensors / air bag sensors) that must be dealt with and I wondered how this process would be handled . Now I know! My confidence has been renewed and I dont have to wonder how to safely do this when the time comes. Thanks for showing how to do this! Love this idea!
That would also be an option or putting a swivel on it so you can move it back-and-forth I thought about that but I really don’t have enough room for some of the other things that I will be adding to the van so taking it out was a must for me for the time being.
I think if there's any chance the seat is connected into the airbag system - it's a job for a trained technician. I've read that cables and connectors that are part of the airbag system are mostly yellow in color. I've also read that you should disconnect the battery and let it sit for an hour before removing a front seat in order to avoid having an airbag explode if you do something that could set it off. My '08 Honda minivan has (1) power seats and (2) front and side airbags. If I get radical and want the front passenger seat removed I'll pay my Honda mechanic to do it. Watching this a couple of days ago, got me thinking. I know you want space so removing the seat makes sense, but did you happen to notice… How hard would it be to reverse the seat - put it back in facing the rear of the van? I think that would be a cool idea for me, but will it fit?
Great video, thinking about doing the same thing and wondering if you encountered any issues after removing the passenger seat? I've seen some users who have commented that the driver side airbag becomes inactive if you disconnect the passenger side, do you know if that's the case?
yes that's the case. If you don't want working airbags just unbolt it and unplug the passenger seat. If you do then I made a video(not nearly as well put together as this one) that sort of shows how to keep your airbags functioning.
I totally get why you removed the seat. But I want to reverse mine (same van make it face the rear). When you took yours out, do you think it would fit back in the opposite way? Does it look like the bolts would fit? Just screw it back down facing the rear?
I really don’t want to have my bed in the section because this is the section that is visible from those passing by. So instead I will be making a couple of other changes that will open up the space and I’m very excited ab

So I guess that means no update
So how much room did you gain after removing the seat? 9 cubic ft? More?
I am not sure of the exact amount but it certainly allows for a lot more overall space and feel of room
Why not push the bed to the front? Then you will get a lot of space in the back and dont have to do that big change.
I really don’t want to have my bed in the section because this is the section that is visible from those passing by. So instead I will be making a couple of other changes that will open up the space and I’m very excited ab
@@BunnyPlaysHere That sounds wise. I didnt think of that aspect. Probably because Im not a vanlifer. Yet!😁
Im so exited to see your rebuild !
Us ladies have to be independent. You show women that they can do anything they set their minds to do.
Absolutely I think it’s very important that we at least try to do things and if we can’t that’s OK but trying is part of the battle
Absolutely
