Adam performed this in 2019 in Washington DC. He was jetlagged having flown home from the UK after performing with Queen and he came down sick the next day. His career in the greater public eye began in 2009 on American Idol but prior to that he was performing in musical theatre (starting as a child) and doing his own solo music on the side. At the time he went on Idol he was in the Los Angeles cast of Wicked, in the ensemble and as the understudy of the male lead Fiyero. Brian and Roger had been aware of him during the competition thanks to Spike Edney who saw him sing Whole Lotta Love and emailed his mates about it. They then came on the show and performed with Adam and the other finalist Kris (who won?). His performance of Who Wants to Live Forever at the Isle of Wight in 2016 is beautiful as well. Roger said he never heard it sung like that before. It's beautiful! There's a documentary on Netflix called The Show Must Go On that explains how he became the front man for Queen. I think people have it posted on RUclips too. Adam Lambert is the biggest, shining gem in the music industry right now. This effortlessly singing may look easy, but it's not. He is trained and gifted and no one sound better live. I can't believe there are still people not aware of his enormous talent. Thanks for the reaction.
if you want Adam nearer the start of his career pre American idol and want to be blown away by his voice, find Is Anybody Listening from The Ten Commandments, a musical he performed in. The whole musical is on youtube, but look for that one song, he blows everyone else off the stage.

Therein lies why Brian and Roger chose him to fill Freddie's little footsteps but huge shoes and why dear John loves him so much and, like Brian and Roger, feels that Freddie would have been his biggest fan. It takes a once in a generation voice and showman to tread the path of a once in a generation voice and showman.
During the same show Adam duets with Cyndi Lauper on I got you babe. You can see what a gentleman he is to his partners giving them the support but not overwhelming them with his amazing range. It’s just beautiful and well worth a look.

Adam was the favorite to win on American Idol and people were shocked when he came in second. I have seen Adam perform solo twice and once with Queen. Not only does he have a wonderful singing voice he is a very gracious and kind person. I have met him back stage twice. I hope he does another solo album soon. All his albums were great.

Ironically, he auditioned with "Bohemian Rhapsody". I strongly suggest reacting to the documentary "The show must go on" and like I said in a previous comment Adam Lambert and Queen doing "Who wants to live forever".
