Who am I?
Expert singing teacher, specialising in teaching children and young adults in singing and musical theatre. She has worked with the likes of The Saturdays for MTV, on shows such as Just the Two of Us for the BBC and many more. Throughout her years of teaching she has judged in many competitions, judging Lucy Spraggan, George Samson, amongst others who have gone onto succeed in the business.
I am the founder of Vocaltutor, (founded 2003) the UK’s largest vocal and singing tuition network and now The New Foundry Studios which opened in 2013.
I have worked with BBCTV on Just the Two of Us, with many celebrities including Natasha Hamilton of Atomic Kitten, plus has worked for ITV on many children’s TV programmes including The Worst Witch, as their vocal coach.

I try to attend the Honors every year and I was fortunate to be in the audience for that performance (btw, just being in the room with CHER was an honor for ME!!). You cannot really hear it on the recording, but there was an audible gasp - like ALL of us - when he went UP on that note, mouths hanging open in awe. Definitely shivers-inducing, one of the most amazing performances I have ever seen in my 15+ years of the KCHonors. TY for the analysis, wonderful comments and insight!!!

He’s definitely THE greatest, but I don’t think he personally feels like he has to prove anything to anyone. He’s not that kind of person. I think he just finds joy in singing and performing for people.

I like 'under-appreciated' versus 'under-rated' which is constantly overused on youtube videos - much better way to describe it
I've heard Brian May of Queen has said he sometimes forgets to play when he hears some of the things Adam does with his voice on Who Wants to Live Forever.

while I am fully aware of his work with Queen, I have absolutely no idea why he isn't one of the biggest stars on the planet, nor why he isn't one of the most successful recording artists in history. He is truly amazing.

Maybe he hasn't sold his soul as much as the others that are far less talented.
He’s openly gay. When he started in music that wasn’t popular at all and so he basically just got pushed aside by the business

I've seen this a few times and thought that he's so underrated and a really good vocalist. Cher seemed to have felt the song in her heart and loved every bit of it.

He had no sleep either, just flew in to do that little ditty.
I love how they stripped this song back from how Cher sang it. You appreciate the lyrics and their meaning more now. The fact that even Cher was in tears towards the end when he hit that big note and the key change says everything. This song has been performed at so many times and this is the best version for me.

This is the best rendition of this song one ever heard. Ella Henderson has done it in a similar fashion and I thought she was brilliant but he blows that performance out of the water. Cher’s reaction says it all!
Just FYI, Adam did this version in 2009 during American Idol, years before Ella.

It’s funny you said he wasn’t nervous. He’s actually said he was very nervous singing this for Cher. If you watch him pass the mic from his left hand back to his right hand at about 4:33, you can see his ring trembling on his hand. The fact that he has expert control over his vocals even when he is nervous makes him a master at what he does. (IMO 😉)

Adam is known for taking his earpiece out during songs. I don't know if it's a nervous habit? Or if he only likes having it in until he knows for sure he's plugged in and on tune? But he even did it back in his American Idol days...

So wonderful. The renowned music director, Michael Orland, who worked with Adam on Idol, loved this performance and he was so very proud of Adam. Michael was also the musical director for this award show. Thanks for your honest enthusiasm for Adam's talent. He makes it look so easy, but it's nice to hear a vocal coach, who realizes the skill it takes to deliver such an amazing performance, admit she gets cold chills listening to Adam's "Believe."
I don't even really like the song, but anything Adam sings, he elevates it out of the world.
I didn't like the original from 98 I think it was, found it kind of annoying but I love this emotional, heart felt rendition. Just completely transforms the song into something magical. Well done Adam!

You have to be able to sing to tour with queen, I’ve never really been a fan but must admit he’s probably the best male vocalist since George Michael and that’s a huge compliment.
