BEHIND THE SCENES: Lost 40% of the footage on this one and totally had to make do! I think it turned out ok though~ | (Also, Sherry got this memory card amzn.to/2u9Ooh0) oh.. AND, Sherry and I did a live-stream that night! ruclips.net/video/CCdYePBNZvw/видео.html
You did a great job hiding that you lost footage. Will hard drives and SD cards work on western computers too? Wasn’t sure if they did some sort of stupid region locking on them or not.
Akihabara is seriously like a wonderland. Everywhere you look seems to hold a little adventure. And then you think about places like asakusa, which is also amazing but in a totally different way than akihabara. And that’s just Tokyo. I cant imagine getting bored in Japan 😆❤️ such a variety.
Amazing to see how far Norm has come with video creation. This was only 4 years ago but you can definitely see a huge change in quality between this and his newer videos. Keep up the awesome stuff Norm, you're killing it!
Those are my favorite spots to hit up when in Tokyo whenever I need a memory card, power bank or random computer cables I might of forgotten to take with me on my trips. Great deals. Also, I like how I can find retro computer parts there as well. Parts dating back to the 90's for PCs.
Oh this is great info Norm! I was that tourist that bought a memory card from the Yodobashi!! I remember thinking it was expensive, but just put it down to differing prices in different countries. Thanks to you I won't be making that mistake again! :)
Hi Norm 🙂 at the Takadanobaba station once you exit there should be in a mid high building at the last floor one of the best shops in Tokyo, having good prices and good merchandise. When I have been there, eons ago, that shop was Tsukumo.
During my first year of Japan, maybe the first 6 months, I HAVE to visit Akihabara, it just needs to happen, looking forward to applying to the JET programme for next year, so excited.
Now I’m curious abt the price difference for the HDD hahaha I never needed to buy any electronics when I’m there so my focus was always anime shops in those areas. Great video though!
I missed a few episodes! So I'm here now. I'd love to learn about how to shop for camera mics.... i might dive into that, since as a VO, I'd always want my audio to sound as close to broadcast quality. You always make me wanna go around my own town to see if there's little shops like this, but I don't really have a favorite.
Akiba it's really a tech paradise! Appreciate this video Norm, it's good to know where to buy tech in that place, from other videos I saw Japan is super expensive compare to Costa Rica, but it has so much variety! I saw in another video from your channel that foreign have tax free shopping, which is very good! :D
A guide i will never be able to use? yes! worth my time due to its entertainment value? YES! more videos in shops, also... what about offbrand/fake memory cards? shouldnt that be a worry
Good luck on your competition!!! Had a great time in Akihabara when i was there. Hubby went to Super Potato and to geek out for like an hour, he was grinning ear to ear when he came out.
Watched ✈🎌 i've been chatting to my japanese language exchange friend in sendai. we have decided to do tuesday chats, because when we leave it to chance we miss opportunities to chat. we always laugh and we always have a lovely time speaking and sharing messaged and pictures from our own counties and lives. Loving your vids. Thank you
Great tips on saving some money when shopping! Even a few bucks/yen here and there can really add up and not a lot of your tips (like the haggling at Yodobashi Camera) would be known by those outside Japan.
That is nuts I thought Yodobashi Camera would be cheaper with the volume and locations they have all over Japan. I hope you explore more of Akihabara back streets. I found a custom bamboo curtain shop in Akihabara, spent 20 mins watching them cut and bind traditional curtains.
Holy cow!! I nearly had a heart attack when you said the price of the memory card. I work in the electronics department at my local Walmart and as soon as you said that price I said no!!! You can get an extreme pro 64gb SD card for around 40 dollars! It's amazing the pricing differences!
At PC Richards I have negotiated and actual had the price reduce. Shop around, get brand names, prices. Now you have the item you want, and have shopped around. Check where these Memory Cards are made, warranty if defective. Find out return policies and exchange. Be careful folks. Research any complaints or returns. 💕
This was super helpful!!! My boyfriend and I are going to Tokyo in August and we’re planning on getting a variety of electronics so a BIG thank you for this video 😁👍🏻
I can't belive thst the video has been posted 3 minutes ago and is 10 monutes long and there are comments already. How did you watch the video so fast, do you time travel? Bye I'm going to watch it hahaha
What up Norm ! WOW ! I was expecting cheaper prices but not the same card (Extreme Pro) but 4x the size , I’ll save a couple hundred yen AND get a way bigger card ! Thanks for the hidden spots Norm !!! 💜
sorry Norm for this off-topic question when this is a video about Akiba electronics.... what is the sling bag you are carrying? i am interested in getting one 😅
THANK YOU! Perfect timing! The cable on my headphones (AKG Y50) died so I went to Yodobashi yesterday to look for it. They didn't have it, but the guy told me to go check out Harman in Roppongi. He was so nice! Anyways, I'll check out the back streets of Akihabara first! Any tips for audio shops there? I don't need the original one, though better quality would be appreciated.
I love Yodobashi but those prices are crazy. The same card is listed on Amazon for $20. I could buy one and send it to her in an envelope for about $22 total.
Really useful information in the video! Thanks for that. So I am planning to head to camera shopping in tokyo and could you explain a bit how is it possible to ask the bigger camera stores to lower the price by showing the price off kakaku, I mean how do I communicate that in "Japanese"? Thanks for the help in advance!
Bro, im going japan this december looking for used tablet or phone any idea where? Last 2 year i found cheap on nakano broadway but probly have better option? Love ur video
Hi Norm, Do you also recommend the back streets for Cameras aswell. Also would love to know about warranty, we live in Aus so if something went wrong with harddrive for example, is it better to contact store or Brand of product directly 🤔🤷. Thanks for your awesome videos to!
Tokyo Lens ok thank you Norm, I shall be buying a new camera soon and was thinking about waiting until im in Tokyo. Hopefully all goes well as planned. Thank you for the response 😀
thank you for this video, Norm! but what about camera lenses? any tip about buying them cheaper? what's the best place for that in your opinion? when I was in Tokyo I considered getting one at hard off but didn't do that eventually

It’s always fun to see you two together ! The live stream was fun and hoping more comes !
I don't believe I will ever get let down when I watch this channel. it always leaves me so full. Thank you again
the way you edit your videos makes it such a delight to watch them. a feast for the eyes!
Thank you~

I have completely fallen in love with your channel, thank you! XD
you're a huge inspiration for my RUclips journey! When I saw that you lost 40% of the footage i was like there's no way! the video is so flawless!
Thanks for bringing back good memories of the backstreets of Akiba!
my phone charger broke, I guess ill go to arkihabara to buy some usb-c. Always wanted to go, now I have a reason to.
I could get lost in those back streets and never get bored 😂
Hi Norm 🙂 at the Takadanobaba station once you exit there should be in a mid high building at the last floor one of the best shops in Tokyo, having good prices and good merchandise. When I have been there, eons ago, that shop was Tsukumo.
Ahhhh man, i wish this was up when I was in Akihabara a month ago! And i totally recognized the area! Can't wait to go back and shop there!
During my first year of Japan, maybe the first 6 months, I HAVE to visit Akihabara, it just needs to happen, looking forward to applying to the JET programme for next year, so excited.

Tokyo tuesday on an actual tuesday of mine. Feels good man.
When I hit Tokyo in July ... I am definitely going into the back streets. Thanks for the tip
Tsukumo has great prices for peripherals.
Logicool G403
Amazon 6500yen*
Tsukumo 4500yen
Now I’m curious abt the price difference for the HDD hahaha
I never needed to buy any electronics when I’m there so my focus was always anime shops in those areas. Great video though!
Hitting the back streets works for cheaper food as well. I love the back streets in Japan ❤
Well done. I wish I’d spent more time in the back streets of Akihabara when I visited Japan.
There’s always next time.
I missed a few episodes! So I'm here now. I man, I missed you guys by a few hours xD I was in Akihabara the same day (I recognize some the staff and girls handing out flyers)
Good work as always, Norm!
Thanks, Zach!

If I do indeed go to Tokyo in August cheapo SD card shop will be on my list. Hopefully they also sell cheap Xqd cards.
im rewatching this because it has good tips, but dang, yodobashi is charging around 10-20x as much for the same card that i just bought from amazon
I know where I’m going for more memory cards the next time I’m in Tokyo. You can never have too many :)
I've now got my mind set on going to japan one day, maybe even visiting Norm. one of these days...
I'm missing Tokyo again already!!
Holy cow!! I nearly had a heart attack when you said the price of the memory card. I work in the electronics department at my local Walmart and as soon as you said that price I said no!!! You can get an extreme pro 64gb SD card for around 40 dollars! It's amazing the pricing differences!

It was a gift from a friend so I don’t really know the name of it or anything.
But it’s a sling bag by Porsche design ~
@@TokyoLens ah no worries that helps a lot. thanks norm!

I now get most of my audio gear direct from the makers or online
Thanks Norm. I know where I am heading when back in Tokyo this autumn.
This is some good information to know. Thanks for sharing you two!
It helped me a lot! I went there today, thank u so much!
What is the techno/video game song you used in the middle of the video? I really like it.
Sounds like a chip tune, very catchy!
It'll take me a whileee to get used to Japan and take advantage of all the tips and tricks😂
Not electronics but I've found Yanaka Ginza is great for buying good traditional souvenirs.
Thought so too, found some great stuff there.
I love Yodobashi but those prices are crazy. The same card is listed on Amazon for $20. I could buy one and send it to her in an envelope for about $22 total.

I like to buy directly from the shop or from the shop through amazon
Tokyo Lens ok thank you Norm,
I shall be buying a new camera soon and was thinking about waiting until im in Tokyo. Hopefully all goes well as planned.
Thank you for the response 😀
What do HDDs and SSDs/m2s cost in Akihabara?
Like 4TB HDD and 1TB SSD/M2?
It would be fun to compare them to the prices here in Sweden
O wow...any pointers where to shop for amateur radio stuff? Please advise. Thank you
We have something like those places over here in ph as well!
like your vlogs and I hope to see more and more, I have been in Japan 6 times and I will visit it in November hope to see you there
Hope to see you!
Fingers crossed!
omg those memory cards are insanely expensive... few bucks short to a shinkansen ticket price.

very cool video. I love looking at the shops. I wish there were more videos of browsing the cool Japanese shops. Window Shopping RUclips style!
Nice tips on electronics
