You’re amazing, Norm! Rebuilding the smallest electronics shop to preserve the owner’s legacy, creating and encouraging giveaways to bring people to Japan who have always wanted to visit, helping local businesses expand their reach through comments on your videos. Plus more I’m sure we’re not even aware of! You’re such a positive force for good in the world!

Not exactly the same thing, but I purchased a joblot of junk art supplies in Japan about a year or two ago and most of what arrived was completely unused - there was a set of gansai tambi paint which had been very lightly used, and a tin of fancy pencils that had been used a little bit, but some of the other materials were completely unopened, and all the rest looked like they'd not been used apart from maybe to test the colours/pigments :D

Sometimes when stores close down or shops end up shutting down some times they will sell off these items very cheap to at least get back some money or they get completely tossed out in the box never open..

Not gonna lie, the somewhat manic energy of this video caught me severely off guard lol!! Loved it tho! I'm pretty sure I had a discman similar to that one years ago, fun to see one pop up

About the phone with the pin, just search how to do the reset to factory mode, normally you can hold a combination of buttons to enter in like a bios system and there it is simple to do it

That 4GB drive is actually kinda useful. For updating firmware or a "shuttle" drive while moving files around.

I just hit play, but I have to say, Norm... THIS IS MY KIND OF VIDEO NICE! I love tech junk, and I can see myself going all the way through Japan buying random junk from second-hand shops xD

That pink plastic around the RAM is for ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection, and with the phones, just ROM the Android and Jailbreak the iPhone, and you also get rid of the shutter sound.
I love going to these old tech stores in Japan, always something cool to find, the problem is that it piles up at home instead 😂
My favorite is probably the portable CD player, I am thinking of getting a retro stereo setup with a vinyl player, CD player, mini-disk player, and even a good DVD/Blu-ray player.

what do you do with the items you don't keep? Do you take any electronics (especially the cables) to get recycled?
