I Know marvel is complicated now Please read this whole because now I'm telling you the entire concept of Multiverse in MCU Listen, All of the MCU films we've watched till Endgame were portraying the story of one universe. But in Loki series, He who remians told us that long ago, there was multiple timelines/universes and all the variants of he who remains were fighting and a Multiversal war happened but then he who remains merged the Timelines and made it into one Sacred timeline (MCU) and then he created TVA (Time Variance Authority). TVA used to keep an eye on the sacred timeline, and whenever someone tried to do something that was not meant to happen in the Sacred timeline, that decision takes place but creates a new timeline. Like we all know we have Captain America but when peggy decided to become supersoldier herself, it created a new timeline. And there are infinite timelines or universes. Like there should be one in which Howard stark became supersoldier and so on. Remember you've watched X-Men last month, it was a story of a different timeline in which, we had superheroes like wolverine, mutants etc.but those multiple timelines were pruned by TVA so that there should exist only a sacred timeline. But When Sylvie Killed He Who Remains, there was no one operating the TVA and all the Multiverse came into existence because no one will prune it. The X-Men universe, the starlord t-chala universe, the captain carter universe and infinite more of them. And now Multiverse War is about to Happen in the MCU because all the TVA we saw in the end of Loki series is being controlled by evil Variant of He who remains aka Kang the Conqueror who had conquered countless universes and killed multiple Avengers is the main villain of MCU. He will never prune any single timeline because he wants all of the timelines to happen so that he'll conquer them all and his multiple Variants will fight each other in (Avengers The Kang Dynasty) coming in 2025 I hope i cleared your doubts my friend
In case you're not already aware, "What If...?" is based off the Marvel comic series of the same name, a regular (if intermittent) comic series in years past, where they used to examine ideas of "what would have happened if one single decision had been different in the favorite stories we are all familiar with?" With the MCU now moving into a "multiverse," it's going to be harder to say what is and isn't canon -- *every* one of these "alternate stories" is canon in their OWN universe. A downside of the "multiverse" concept -- a long-standing staple of comic books -- is that it tends to get very confusing very quickly.
Not only would it be expensive. Getting everyone together again for a show? Scheduling, and logistics and everything just makes it nearly impossible. Especially for a “series” and not a big big budge movie like the avengers. Them lending their voices is already difficult.

Following the popularity of this show, Captain Carter got her own comic book run. As for Star-Lord T'Challa, Chadwick was able to record all of his lines before his passing.
The animation format allows them to do more visual wise and more stories. It is expensive to do all of that in live action. This is also a big comic book series. From time to time Marvel has brought characters from What If... into the main Marvel Universe. Basically it was a test run for different ideas. We will probably see this in the animated What If.. and the MCU.
I don't why you guys were looking so confused during the reaction. All of these are different universes. Remember Loki? Anything is possible in the multiverse. Some characters may be same but go through different stories in there life (episode 4 with doctor strange), or some characters may be different but have the exact same story(episode 1, captain carter) or something else entirely (will be explored more in movies like Doctor Strange in the multiverse of Madness)
yeah techically they are all cannnon in the MCU now, thats the point of the series, for it being cartoon.. its mainly because its much faster to produce when you think about all the things they include in the show, which makes sense.. personally i didnt like the series as much, but its still worth watching given they are cannon and still connect to the main MCU
What If? Is a Comic Series since 1973, it's a Storyline of Alternates of course told by The Watcher,The Animation is actually Top Notch with Season 2 coming out.
I feel for Rico... my watching buddy has a hard time with animated shows, but by the end of Clone Wars she was full-on able to just ignore that and enjoy the content for the stories they tell. Hope Monica gets there too! The story and content of the episodes are so good, and a voice actor puts as much work into their performance without the aid of having things going on around them & interactions to work with. I didn't find it confusing cuz I just accept it as an alternate universe. Also I already enjoying Marvel cartoons so This falls under that category for me, and the Marvel cartoons don't really correlate to the Marvel movies anyways so
Ok, so a bit of information: in the 70s and forward, Marvel released a comic book ongoing title called "What If" where they'd tell stories of what would've happened if things went differently from how they did in the main Marvel universe, Earth-616. (Technically all those alternate stories are still canon, just in their respective universes). There were things like what if "Doctor Strange had been a disciple of Dormammu", "Spider-Man had stopped the burglar who killed uncle Ben", "The alien costume had possessed Spider-Man", "Magneto Had Formed the X-Men With Professor X?" etc etc. What Marvel Studios is doing here is the same thing, but for the MCU. They are showing how events unfolded across the Multiverse. Also, just like in the comics, the Watcher was the one who narrated the stories because he's an alien tasked with observing his and other universes.
I do understand not being a fan of it being a cartoon but it's literally the only way they could do a concept like this. Trying to make it live action, the budget would be absolutely astronomical.

Stories come in all forms whether it be live action movies and tv shows, animation movies and tv shows, comics, etc. Just because it's in animation form doesn't mean it can't be good or it isn't a story worth telling, plus it adds a little bit more aesthetic to the story.
It's so much easier for them to do the What If series using animation. The artists can work on visuals and sound effects while the actors can be anywhere in the world that has a sound studio. Plus, it's much cheaper for the companies involved and can be made and released much quicker than live-action.

Nebula here actually reminds me of Emma Frost here...Emma Frost is this mutant from the Xmen and she can turn into a diamond body and can block telepathic powers. and she's def wears what nebula wears.

It's all cannon. It's just another universe. The idea of not liking animation is so confusing to me. Some of the best entertainment ever is animated. BTW, this is the last thing Chadwick did as T'Challa.

this timeskip for captain britain is more accurate with the comics for cap america. in "spiderman the animated series" was an 2 3 episode part where you could see cap america to put red skull in a time lock prison with himself for about 50 years someone opened the prison to get something out of it and cap america got out with them.

Just finish the series of shows. They do get better. The entire story is really good. Also, I understand that cartoons may not be your thing but it is a comic book. Also, you can do anything with animation. You aren’t subject to specific CGI limitations. Also, if even one “character’s” actor isn’t available, they just need to find someone that can imitate their voice. More episodes can be made with less money. No problems with Covid restrictions recording voices one at a time or in different spaces. There are lots of advantages to using animation vs live-action. I really loved this series. It is creative. They're all canon in their own universe, but not tied down to the main MCU timeline. I definitely loved episodes 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, and 9 from this series

Rico, you and Monica have a lot to watch. 2 Venom movies before Spiderman No Way Home and at least one X-Men movies before Docter Strange 2 so that Monica get an idea of the characters in X-Men. If possible also watch a Fantastic 4 movie which is also important for Doctor Strange 2.

Rico, once again, this is my warning to you that you need to have watch the Raimi Spiderman Trilogy and the Amazing Spiderman 1 and 2 (in that krder) Before watching the MCU Spiderman (3) No Way Home bcs the villians from thr old movies are all in this one. Its like how for Endgame you needed to have watched all the prev films
This is cannon, you're just not used to the multiverse, yet which is fine it's a new concept to the MCU. Everything is in a different universe, so everything is cannon to it's own universe. It works, even if you have overlapping. Even with the Fox accusations, all those are still cannon in the MCU, just only within their own universe, which is separate from the MCU proper. The same could be said for Sony's venomverse because all of those universes are connected to the MCU, through the multiverse but only cannon to their own universes.
I did struggle at the beggining with the animation too... it just puts you off right at the start and is a big thing too, but then you get used to it and start enjoying the stories. Maybe i never shook it off completely and maybe thats why i rank it so low in terms of these Phase 4 content, i just could never connect too much
@@Fabian...... People seemingly can't answer this question but the answer is absolutely nothing. Truth is its ignorance that stops people from enjoying animation. Calling them "cartoons" is the giveaway that they think its below them, ironically.
I see you are struggling with the concept of the multiverse. Just imagine all these "what if" storys are real. Before Loki, the TVA would prevent every of these storys to happen, but now, they are all happening, each "what if" creating a whole new universe. Each universe is just a different story. All that happend in the mcu still happend, but there are an infinite amount parallel universes, where things happend differently. Everything is possible. And there are possibilities to travel through these universes. This show tries to make you comfortable with this, before the existence of these other universes will have serious consequences in the films.
This nonsense about "downward slope" is hilarious. The problem is phase 3 set the bar so high that everyone expects every new project to be Endgame when they're not looking to be and misconstruing quality with that opinion. Phase 4 is like phase 1.5, it's all setting up the next 2 phases, aka the next 5+ years of story. It's not about topping Endgame.

Indeed. I'd love a live action version, but yeah, a highly expensive endeavor for sure. I'd be willing to bet each episode would be circling 12M easy.

This show was basically a way to further explain the multiverse and introduce new variants who might show up in films, it's definitely cannon, though.

I did struggle at the beggining with the animation too... it just puts you off right at the start and is a big thing too, but then you get used to it and start enjoying the stories. Maybe i never shook it off completely and maybe thats why i rank it so low in terms of these Phase 4 content, i just could never connect too much

I see you are struggling with the concept of the multiverse. Just imagine all these "what if" storys are real. Before Loki, the TVA would prevent every of these storys to happen, but now, they are all happening, each "what if" creating a whole new universe. Each universe is just a different story. All that happend in the mcu still happend, but there are an infinite amount parallel universes, where things happend differently. Everything is possible. And there are possibilities to travel through these universes. This show tries to make you comfortable with this, before the existence of these other universes will have serious consequences in the films.
It has some amazing Episodes. Its Canon but its not important to watch.

This nonsense about "downward slope" is hilarious. The problem is phase 3 set the bar so high that everyone expects every new project to be Endgame when they're not looking to be and misconstruing quality with that opinion. Phase 4 is like phase 1.5, it's all setting up the next 2 phases, aka the next 5+ years of story. It's not about topping Endgame.
