In the comics, Marvel Comics started the “What If?…..” series in the late 70’s, and the storylines have covered almost every character. A lot of the artists and writers have said that they really enjoyed working on those stories, because it gave them the opportunity to think outside the box concerning characters that they had been working with for years.
I think a lot of people miss that Col. Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones) also gets shot at the start, so they brought back Bradley Whitford as Agent Flynn, Peggy's sexist boss from the "Agent Carter" one-shot (not to be confused with the "Agent Carter" TV show)
If you recall in all the MCU movies and series where Peggy Carters office was shown the picture of Steve that she had on her desk the one she fell in love with was the small brave human Steve not the studly hero Steve. So it made sense that she would still be into him.
You got it right away! Every episode is written by different writers and drawn by different animators with all different styles. As you guessed, to give you the feeling that there are infinite possibilities. You’re a pretty sharp cookie. I’ll bet you did great on your middle school book reports. 😂
Just because some people don't really catch it: Peggy's Captain Carter is stronger than Steve's Captain America because of where they start before the serum: Steve is a very sickly, frail, and inexperienced young man when he takes the serum and is transformed, while Peggy is fit, smart, and skilled when she takes the serum. If we think of the serum as a multiplicative factor ("what is good becomes great") Peggy starts from a "better" physical starting point than Steve, so Captain Carter is even stronger, faster, more powerful than Captain America is. This is no dig or condemnation at Steve/Captain America, nor is it meant to be like "Ah yes, because she's a woman she's better" about Peggy, but is much more about how Steve inspires Peggy to step up, and Peggy inspires Steve to not quit. He gets into the Hydra Stomper because he believes in Peggy, she takes the serum because she saw how much heart he had. I've personally always take the view that their love for each other is like it's own Super Soldier Serum: they take what the other has and is made better for it.
You've seen Watchers before, they were in that end credits scene in Guardians Vol. 2 where Stan Lee is telling them all stories of his cameos and then they leave him there on that asteroid lol
The Watchers, are a group of nearly all-powerful beings that are tasked with watching over different beings around the Marvel universe. The specific Watcher in this series, and that watches over Earth in the comics, is named Uatu. They actually make an appearance in the MCU during ‘Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2’, when Stan Lee is talking to them.
I'd strongly recommend watching Werewolf by Night this season. It's an MCU Halloween special. It doesn't affect the rest of the universe and can be watched any time without fear of spoilers
Hey, Emme! Fantastic FIRST EPISODE! I hope this gets more people to see Season 1 of "AGENT CARTER". It's only 8 episodes and extraordinarily good! Captain Carter will be a recurring character in this series and will show up in live-action in "Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". Everyone returned to voice their character except for Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Hugo Weaving as Red Skull but Ross Marquand, who played Red Skull in "Endgame" and who is more well-known as Aaron from "The Walking Dead", sounds amazingly indistinguishable from Weaving and Josh Keaton, who replaced Evans, was a reasonable facsimile. THE WATCHERS are from the comics and our Watcher is named UATU. He resides on the Moon and, despite his creed, he often intercedes on humanity's behalf. Whenever he shows up in person to observe in the comics, it signals an Earth-shattering event! Jeffrey Wright sounds great as Uatu. Col. Chester Phillips, animated to look like Tommy Lee Jones, was killed by Heinz Kruger and replaced by Col. Flynn who was Peggy's boss in the "Agent Carter" One-Shot played by Bradley Whitford. The character was animated to look like him! Love the Union Jack logo! They don't call her Captain Britain because that moniker belongs to another character, Brian Braddock! Bucky doesn't become The Winter Soldier and Steve becomes the first Iron Man in a suit designed by Howard! The movie Howling Commandos are meticulously represented with Sebastian Stan voicing James Buchanan 'Bucky' Barnes and Neal McDonough voicing Timothy 'Dum Dum' Dugan. The other Commandos shown are James Montgomery Falsworth aka Union Jack, Gabriel Jones, Jim Morita and Jacques 'Frenchie' Dernier. The Red Skull is killed summoning the Lovecraftian Elder God SHUMA-GORATH! A Hedy Lamarr name-drop: the genius bombshell of Hollywood! Steve and Peggy are star-crossed lovers doomed to be separated by 70 years. Peggy reappears at Project PEGASUS as if only seconds have passed from the Void of Shuma-Gorath's domain which is outside of time. She is greeted by Hawkeye and Nick Fury in the same chamber Loki appears in at the beginning of "Avengers".
I'm glad that you are continuing to react to Marvel stuff, but I'm really having a hard time understanding the order. Wouldn't you watch this after you watch Loki? I suppose you really don't have to, but it just seems strange.
She replied to someone else's comment about this. Basically, it made more sense to start What If while she was finishing Falcon & Winter Soldier in case Loki spoiled something. She's then started watching Loki with What If halfway through.
Technically It doesn't matter because all the what if episodes are based off the movies that came out before all these shows did but I am a little confused as Loki came out before what if and doesn't have spoilers for what if as far as i know
Captain Britain would be the logical choice of name but unfortunately there’s already a Captain Britain so they had to call her Captain Carter. Captain Britain will probably be showing up in the near future.
I love that Peggy is still just as in love with Steve as she was in the Sacred Timeline. The idea of this huge, buff Amazonian warrior still being hopelessly in love with a tiny weak guy is so cute.
Have you considered continuing the Netflix shows after finishing Loki and What if? Daredevil Season 3 is amazing, and there is some required context for future projects. (And no, you don't "have" to watch Luke Cage and Iron Fist, or even the Defenders. If you ask me, either watch the Defenders and then DD Season 3, or just watch a recap for the Defenders and just skip straight to Daredevil Season 3 if you only want GOOD content)
Personally, I think "Lady Britannia" has a better ring to it than "Captain Carter." I also think if the super soldier serum was used on a Brit, Churchill would be more involved.
Just to clarify since I see you commenting this often and I want to avoid confusion - everything is posted in the same order as I did post it on Patreon. So I did technically start watching this right before finishing The Falcon & the Winter Soldier.
All of what if is Cannon alongside the MCU live action despite being in anime or taking place in other universes most everything Marvel is cannon. If not all at least most of it just some with slight changes.
The show is really good. Just the american accent in the German voice lines is horrible. The could have easily found better voice actors for the german soldiers
When I was a kid, the WHAT IF comics were one of favorite series, but it was really difficult to explain the premise to people. These days, though, everybody gets it. This show has a cute look to it, but I'm honestly not impressed with the animation. It's not animation at all, really. These are Fortnite skins.
I'm so confused by this?? it's a cartoon. the animation is gorgeous. of course it's fine if you don't like cel-shading but to say it "isn't animation" because you have a personal vendetta against fortnite (????) is hilarious and probably rude
The only problem i have with this show. What if something was different? It would be the same for us. From our perspective it would the same and not different at all.
Well the show whole premise is based off of the comics mavels what if... In which like thia show it's just older comic stories but with something that goes different that causes everything to be completely different Part of that premise though is that you as the reader/ watcher already knows the original version and so you know something is different and is therefore happening in a different universe from the main one you used to watching Personally I think it's a great premise that allows people to retell certain fan favorite stories but with a little twist ending or in most cases end up telling a crazy story that you never be able to do in the main comic / movie universe
I really like the plots and art style of the What If...s, but the dialog and some of the character animation is a bit too... childish? Like it was dumbed down? Im not sure. But again, it has some goregous shots with all the colors and scenarios, and I like the stories tell overall. I hope we get more soon. Also, Captain Carter is one of my favorites. Peggy in general. She got a comic series recently that was pretty good. Hayley Atwell is great.
The order got mixed up during this time since I didn’t have time to do Loki while getting Ahsoka episodes up day of. (What If episodes are half the length so it made it easier to fit in here.) But in current time I am almost done with Loki and What If
@@emme That's OK, because the concept of the multiverse and variants were introduced in Loki first and What If further explored those concepts after Loki. Just don't want you to get confused with all the wild change.... ;)
I'm going to be honest, I would enjoy the show a lot more if it was not considered Canon. They turn all of the characters into caricatures and do some very unrealistic things that go just a little bit beyond the pale for me personally when it comes to how far I can suspend my disbelief. If it was just supposed to be a fun cartoon, I could enjoy it, but these things are all supposedly actually happening on other timelines and I just can't really get with that.
Seems like a silly reason not to enjoy the show if there infinite about of timelines in stands to reason that literally every possibility would eventually take place so it's inevitable that some versions will end up having outrageous and completely different situations
This show is SOO fun to watch!! As a reminder, I’m almost at the end of it over on patreon! Thanks for watching! ❤ patreon.com/emmereacts

If u remember in the captain America film and agent carter series peggy already knew how to fight and fight on the front lines so this made sense
"It's almost the same but the roles are changed".
Welcome to What if.

I wouldn't really say different art styles though. They're all pretty much the same just the tone is edited differently
@@Spaxer no, the art is distinctly different.
We saw The Watchers in the 2nd Guardian of the Galaxy movie. Stan Lee was talking with them in the after credits.

This was such an amazing series premiere. I was absolutely in love with how gorgeous and badass Captain Carter was throughout this episode.😍❤💙🇬🇧

There was a theory going around for a while that all the Stan Lee MCU cameos were an in-joke that he was secretly Uatu the Watcher
