Something I love about this movie is that Cap and Tony’s motivation are so contrary to what they would have done at the beginning of their character arcs. Tony was the arrogant, proud, genius billionaire playboy philanthropist, but throughout his movies, and especially Age of Ultron, he has seen the damage his genius can do, and believes that he can’t be trusted to handle it himself. Cap, on the other hand, started as the young, idealist, wanting to help his country and join the army. But especially due to what happened in The winter soldier, he has grown suspicious of organizations and governments. Their viewpoints have basically switched from what they originally were, but you can totally see why they think as they do. Really love this movie.
And on top of that they both demonstrate each others' points at the end: Tony wants/needs to do something no matter what others want and Cap has to put a hero in check when their actions would be a mistake and hurt someone else.
When Bucky says *I remember all of them* it s one of the darkest moments in the mcu. Cause he s saying he remembers everyone hes killed as the winter soldier not just Tonys parents, it s like he had been conscious the entire time but not in control of his actions.
@@maxim196 except as they talk Steve gets him to remember that Zemo asked him about Siberia. So he might not remember right away, but with enough time he can remember the details. Why he has so many journals, he didn't remember anything right away but with work he can regain his memories.
@@maxim196 not really a plot hole. he had amnesia and probably a concussion from getting knocked out in the chopper crash. he didn't get knocked out on kill missions for hydra.
I agree. But the fact that Tony truly thought that Cap was going to do it shows how much trust Tony lost. That shot shows that their friendship was broken
That is true, my point is more to how how many people watch these but forget that Tony doesn’t have an Arc reactor in his chest anymore post IM3. Also from the first punch on all his effort is to stop Tony from attacking Bucky and shutting down the suit both he and Buck go after all the reactors over the suit.
I disagree. I *did* think that from watching it before, but I just now connected that Steve intentionally got Tony's helmet off first. Also Tony would have a good view where he was aiming. I think he was going to do it, but changed his aim at the last moment. And after watching Falcon and the Winter Soldier, that kind of makes it more powerful.
@@carrieseymour5197 Bucky tried to pull out the reactor. Cap tried to disable the boots. They were trying to stop him from killing Bucky. Steve had no reason to fucking KILL Tony. That’s completely contrary to the actions he was taking throughout the entire movie in order to save a friend’s life. Tony wanted vengeance. Cap was just in the way. Cap wanted Bucky to live. Tony’s suit posed the real threat to them.
He was turned into one in the first Captain America movie which is why he was strapped down to a table when Steve found him thats why he survived the fall from the train with only losing an arm
@@dudleyred267 Steve Rogers got the original PERFECTED Super Soldier Serum from Dr. Erskine. Red Skull took an imperfect prototype version that melted his face and drove him insane. All other versions of the serum(Abomination, Winter Soldier, etc) are cheap imitations that have bad side effects. I guess the version that Bucky received, took a while for him to develop the same abilities as Steve.
@@39Hundred This is true can confirm and not until Falcon and the Winter Soldier series that someone make a better version of the already perfected Super Soldier Serum
One of my favorite moments when Captain America asks Spider-Man where he comes from. Peter tells him he is from Queens. Cap smiles and says Brooklyn. Despite being separated by over 70 years, Cap recognizes a fellow scrappy little guy from New York.
Just so you know, Bucky was given super soldier serum (like Cap) during the experiments that were performed on him, so on top of his metal arm he has enhanced speed, strength and reflexes too. That’s how he was able to run that fast and grab that motorcycle like it was easy. It’s also how he has stayed alive this long, if you freeze a regular man, they’ll probably die. But super soldiers can be frozen for decades (potentially centuries) with no ill-effects.
I love your comment you made on this Post I love to hangout I have my my day off Wednesday if you don't mind can we chat on email.. Let me know what you think
Also, the scene where Wanda threw cars at Tony was a profound one. Notice how the suit said “contusion detected?” That was his left arm. For every MCU film going forward, Tony is nursing an achy left arm. That fight wounded him permanently. RDJ is such a great actor.
He was having issues with that arm before every time he is stressed. Just in this movie, before that fight, before Spidey was introduced and Nat and Tony were talking about the 36-hour deadline and being understaffed.
@@galinabrack6057 yeah exactly, its morre of a cardiac thing from the first iron man movie...that literally just defines him- not after civil war per see
Originally, Spider-Man doesn’t make his webbing naturally. It’s artificial and shoots out of trigger activated cartridges. In the first Toby Maguire Spider-Man film, the director Sam Raimi decided to make a change. Sam Raimi decided to make the webbing come out of Peter’s body naturally.
It was actually a holdover. James Cameron was going to make a Spider-Man movie in the mid 90s and Leonardo DiCaprio was his choice. He was going to have organic webs in that version, and that carried over into Sam Raimi’s version.
I would not call him a pure protagonist, he had no choice, he lost everything except his roots (the fact that he is a Baron is explained in the series) and on the threshold of despair and revenge, there was no one left to blame except the Avengers for all this, fortunately this film perfectly summed up this line that they are also sinful!
@@ВалентинЖданов-р9е they are still heroes in that sense that they were still trying to save lives. They only wish all they had to deal with had no consequences. Both New York and Sokovia incident would destroy the whole planet had those missions succeeded.

Civil War is still one of the best comic books movies and I love how this movie focuses on the repurcussions of collateral damage. We don't get to see many action films or comic book films focus on the heroes having to pay the price for the collateral damage and how it affects them as a team, but this does it very well!
I read somewhere that at 52:55, Tom actually forgot to move his leg to Robert just said that and they kept rolling. But it works so perfectly, you'd never know it!
The real reason for Peppers absence is because at the time Gwyneth Paltrow contract was up. She was only suppose to do the 3 Iron Man movies and a cameo in Avengers. Also the Russo brothers wanted to use that as a part of Tony’s breaking point in this movie. One of Tony Stark’s biggest issues is he doesn’t know when to stop (as Pepper tried to make him do in IM3). Sometimes he’s needs to be checked on cause at times he can go to extremes like with Ultron. Pepper was to Tony like Peggy was to Steve. When Pepper left, Tony felt abandoned. When Steve kept the truth about his parents a secret from him, he also felt abandoned and betrayed since Cap is like the only thing close to what he has left to remember his father. Tony can’t fight Pepper but he can fight Cap though
This is my favorite movie in the MCU. There are a few others that you could argue have better moments, but on the whole this is the best movie in my opinion. It brings up two valid arguments, and even when you fall on one side, you can see, and feel, the validity arguments of the other side. Captain America has always been my favorite character in the MCU, but my favorite single line is Tony saying "I don't care. He killed my mom." The pain in that line is so perfectly delivered. This movie has some flaws, and some plot holes, but I firmly believe that the good out weighs it all. Glad you enjoyed it!
It also is a call back to Steve jumping on the grenade in CA:TFA. To me it shows that Bucky knows Steve so well he instinctively knows what he is going to do.
This movie was mind blowing when I first watched back in 2016, the final fight is one of the best of the entire MCU not just cause of the coreography, but all the emotions behind it. I'm definitely more Team Cap, but in the end I kind change my heart more towards Tony, cause of his parents, its so conflicting.
I don't know if anyone has said this in the comments yet, but when 52:55 Tony told Peter, "move your leg, i'm gonna sit here" that was actually improvised. Peter was apparently not supposed to sit like that and Tony was supposed to just casually sit next to him, but Peter/Tom Holland forgot about that and just sat down comfortably. So, Tony/RDJ told him to move his leg because that is what he was supposed to do. Anyways, first time I heard about it and it was explained I thought it was really funny haha
The solider Natasha used as a shield wear full body armor, made to take a grenade blast & survive. Probably with pain & injury, but survive, nonetheless. Therefore, Natasha can easily survive by using 1 of them as a shield to absorb the blast with their body. Granted, she'd probably still have brief ringing in her ears from such a close ranged blast.
The accords, I definitely agree with Cap. The fight in Siberia, I emphasize with both. Logically, Cap was right to protect Bucky and himself, of course, and he did it in the least violent way the situation allowed. But Tony was too deep in emotions, from the old wound ripped open again of finding out that his parents died, the betrayed feeling of Cap knowing they were murdered (or at least suspecting, it was heavily implied in the Winter Soldier, but never given proof until Civil War, so not sure you can count that as knowing. But Tony thought he knew), to recent but not as recent stuff of seeing his best friend in mortal peril and being paralyzed, seeing the child he recruited unconscious on the ground, somewhat older issues of blaming himself for Sokovia particularly, but also other casualties, even older with his PTSD from the wormhole (which caused the whole Ultron debacle), his betrayal by Stane (brought back up during the fight when both Bucky and Steve went for the Arc Reactor as Stane did) ...
when ross says "how woul you call an enhanced individual who routinely ignores sovereign borders and inflicts his will wherever he choses", I wish one of the avengers had said EMIL BLONSKY just to see Ross s reaction.
Not to mention he's the reason Banner became the Hulk because he tricked him into testing his experiment on himself. Also, him trying to refer to Hulk and Thor as nukes was ridiculous. Especially in Thor's case because he's a prince from another world.
YES! I would call such an individual General Ross, ignoring the sovereign borders of Brazil, inflicting his will, and civilian casualties, and massive property damage. And yes Ross is enhanced - he has a superhuman-level of stupidity.
The last fight is such a masterpiece to me, I feel like I would feel the same way from both POV’s: tony’s hatred for his loss, and steve’s protection because even though Bucky did that terrible thing if that was my best friend I would never sit back and say you deserve this or even hold back to get him out of there like tony was going to kill him and you don’t have to fight Tony’s battle u just have to end it with neither of them dead. It’s just so sad but so good
Sorting out Spidey: Sam Raimi made Spidey's webshooters "organic" for his movies--probably to save a few minutes, and because the idea that even a bright lad could invent, develop AND manufacture both webshooters AND web fluid in his aunt's basement is pretty silly, especially when such technology could lift him and Aunt May out of economic uncertainty AND help the public in hundreds of ways. The comics followed suit, but after a while changed back to mechanical webshooters. In the MCU, at least having Tony's skills and resources tossed into the mix in this era of nanotechnology makes the idea of an invisible-under-clothing device--organic or mechanical--that can spontaneously generate eight hundred yards of unanchored monofilament, AND somehow instantly propel it to a target with laser precision, slightly more plausible (winking emoji). In before angry fanboi: IT'S JUST A COMIC BOOK/MOVIE, SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UPPPPP
I think the "laser precision" is more due to Peter's enhanced senses and reflexes. But who knows? Maybe the spider-bite gave him some intuition about web-chemistry.
Fun Fact: There's a deleted/alternate scene in Iron Man (2008) where Nick Fury says "as if Gamma Accidents, Radioactive bug bites and assorted mutants weren't enough" meaning we could've had Sam Rami's Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) as the MCU's Spider-Man the whole time. And it's kind of sad because at this point currently we could've had a Sam Raimi Miles Morales movie
When I first watched this movie I agreed more with cap and I still do but watching it again with you guys made me understand where Tony’s headspace was and reasonings for why he was so focused on getting revenge on Bucky and also the sub plot with everyone continuing the cycle of revenge which brought them to this point
Watching Infinity War really shows the future Tony was afraid of and struggled desperately to prevent. Steve was always right in the moment, Tony was a futurist and was right in the end. Very well written characters and story lines.

I can see where both sides are coming from but I’m on caps side all the way just personally. Like the UN might not have let them go somewhere they needed to or more likely ended up using the avengers as soldiers against their own enemies. Loved the speech from Peggy through Sharon and yeah 100% was never gonna blink after that, he was defending his friend and fighting for what he believed was right, same with Tony and i think this is probs one of my fav movies because it was so complex and you can see both sides very clearly. But for me I’m with cap on this. It’s so concerning how quick the government turned on them though i mean they only showed the bad and not the good I mean how many more people would have died if they hadn’t gotten involved?

"can Wanda just stop them".. She actually could... She still didn't know how powerful her power was.. Still learning her power.. The director once said she could stop the fight in seconds if she was in her peak..
I love the details they reveal in fight scenes. Captain America, Bucky, and Black Panther are operating at about the same level in terms of strength and speed. Faster than human, but nowhere near Quicksilver. Stronger than human, but nowhere near Hulk or Thor. The fight scenes make it obvious that T'Challa has more agility and fighting skill than either Steve or Bucky. Not mentioned in the movie: T'Challa also has enhanced senses, and amazing tech, as well as a little magic not shown here. I love how Wakanda signed the accords and never mentioned that they have many people with powers just as crazy as the Avengers. This is impressive: Sokovia intelligence one about Hydra and their Winter Soldier program. American intelligence knew about either. The Soviet Union one about the Winter Soldier program, but incorrectly thought they were in charge of it. Sokovia intelligence was a leg up on both superpowers, and was working against Hydra behind the scenes. You'll get to see more of Sharon Carter in What If. Steve Rogers and King T'Chaka have a history. It's implied, but not explicitly stated in this movie. The actor playing Bucky was impressive. He was playing Bucky at 3 different cognitive levels. Also, he really speaks Romanian. Traditionally, the webs are from tech that Peter made. There was a movie in which the webs were a biological part of his power. A fight between a member of the Dora Milaje and Natasha would be a very close fight as T'Challa implies, butt only because Natasha cheats. ;) Both the Dora and the Red Room train from childhood. The dead man in the hotel room was the real psychiatrist who was supposed to see Bucky. When Black Widow left, she went straight to the events of her solo movie.
I don't know what magic you think T'Challa is supposed to have. Also, I don't know where it is implied that Steve Rogers and King T'Chaka have a history. Are you sure you're not mixing comics with the MCU?
I freakin' LOVE Florence Kasumba. She was also in a Wizard of Oz show called Emerald City and an old ABC reality show called The Quest, which is where I first saw her.
One of the major reasons I'm on team Cap is that I just don't trust the UN at all. They actually put _Iran_ on the human rights committee! To my mind Zemo is one of the more sympathetic villains. He wasn't out to take over or destroy the world; he wanted justice for his family, much like Maximoff twins or Mariah Dillard. He wears a slightly different face in Falcon & The Winter Soldier; more likable with a slightly different set of goals. At least, I found him more likeable. Blaming the Avengers for all those catastrophes is wrong. The only exception is Sokovia, since that came from Ultron, which came from Stark. That's on Tony, not the entire team. Instead of manning up and accepting responsibility, he says "we're" responsible and puts it on the Avengers.
Tony secretly made ultron even tho he knew the government would say no. He caused sokovia. Who tried to stop Tony from making him? nobody cuz the government trusted him. the gov trusted the avengers & because Tony accidentally made ultron. people died.
Actually Steve and the rest of the team didn’t want him making him. Still pisses me off the movies had him make him in the first place right before an antman movie.
It was caused by wanda And wanda Killed Thousands in Civil war Ans Caused hige problems In Wanda vision Yeah All because of captain America Stfu #TEAM IRONMAN
Natasha was raised from a child to be the perfect assassin.. that's why she handles all the pain so well and has the ability to anticipate anything that can be thrown at her. She also has super serum running through her veins.
Guys... Captain America, Bucky and Black Panther all have taken some version of a super soldier serum. Bucky's left arm is bionic, but the rest of him is just as strong as Cap and Panther.
@@milesglennadda8526 He does. They make a serum out of that special herb in Wakanda and have him drink it to get his powers. The suit is just bulletproof.
@@ChrisAnthonyGiles oh no I know that obviously lol, I meant like it’s not THE serum that created the same kind of super soldiers as Bucky and cap lol using serum as a descriptor for what happened to black panther might not be the best synonym
Zemo’s whole motivation in this movie reminds me of the Punisher. He believes he’s lost everything in life worth living for. The things he does now are not for anyone or even himself. He does it simply because he believes the people he’s doing it to deserve it.
When Cap ripped Tony's helmet off, I'm pretty sure it was because he knew that without the Arc Reactor powering the suit, Tony wouldn't be able to breathe if he kept the helmet on
43:16 "You could at least recognize me" Natasha's utterance was left as a reference to the comic book where she had an affair with Bucky, it's a pity that this is also not used
It always gets me when they want to hold them accountable for the damaged caused during the invasion of NYC, and I'm like the governments plan was to nuke it
Exactly lol. Like the nuke wouldn’t have even solved the problem that those mf were coming from a portal in the sky lol whilst the avengers acc took out the root cause. Plus the environmental implications of nuking NYC like hellooo it would be uninhabitable for decades if not centuries. I mean NYC is an economical hub after all. Soo many homeless people.
Bucky Is A Super Human, Just Like Captain America and Black Panther, He Also Received The Super Soldier Serum, About 2 Serums. He possesses superhuman strength, even without his metal arm. and Also Speed, Agility, and Stamina Over Humans. That's why he can also easily overtake cars, speed this Bucky in this scene is between 55 to 69 MPH.
But Howard would never have suspected until that moment that Barnes was still alive. How much interaction did Howard have with Bucky back in WW2, that he'd still remember him?
@@dellcoc But how? When would Howard have gotten to know Bucky? If it was after Cap rescued him, that doesn't leave much time between him coming back to the base and him apparently dying. If it was before he was captured, why would Howard have gotten to know a random sergeant from the 104th Infantry? As opposed to all the other soldiers that were there. Did he get to know all of them, learning all their names, such that he would still recognize them decades later? How? Why?
@@dellcoc When was there time for that to have happened? We never see Howard hanging out with Bucky, or any of the other rescued soldiers. Very soon after the rescue, they go out to stop the train and Bucky "dies". So like 50 years later, Howard somehow remembers a guy he saw for a few days at most? That doesn't make sense.
To help explain the perspective of the government: Avengers come in, fight off dangerous threat (that they sometimes have a hand in bringing there), then leave behind a destroyed place They dont pick the pieces up after the fight They just show up, fight, and leave Yes they rescue civilians, yes they protect people, but they dont clean up the messes they cause during that Thats the problem, its a bad look
About Black Widow's regenerative capabilities, they don't state this in the MCU, but in the comics she was injected with a serum similar to Cap's; she's not a full Super Soldier like he is, but her physical traits are also enhanced.
The scene where Tony says “I’m gonna sit there so you gotta move the leg”, was improvised as Tom Holland forgot what was next so RDJ felt the scene needed to continue rather than go for another take.
It's funny how an ex soldier (Cap) doesn't want to be controlled but Tony Stark does😂 it shows how far they're characters have come. With that said, there's no right or wrong side in this movie. Each perspective is reasonable. But I will always rep Team IRONMAN. Love this movie and love these reactions♥️👊
It's not, because Tony feels guilty about Ultron, and he should. It was totally his fault and his guilt drove him. Cap wasn't responsible for any of that.
Itsonlysound It's fine captain America butt hurt fangirl Captain America is a bitch ass lier And he lied and Betrayed Everyone At least Ironman Doesn't pretend Be an ideal Man of justice captain America is a hypocrite
I get both sides but Cap was te one in the right. Tony was doing what he did with the accords because of guilt it wasn't actual logic in the situation. Cap was the only one thinking rationally and clearly. Spider man has gone back and forth between natural webs and scientifically generated webs. They're both relevant.
Never seen anyone have genuine reactions that could predict everything in a film like this. I mean comic book readers couldn’t predict the things y’all could. So genuine!!! I mean genius!!!!!!!!!!
Stark only is the one to blame for that woman losing her son. The reason I don’t like Stark is because he came back with we need to be put in check! Like dude it’s you who needs to be watched not us! Aw look at little captain tard fangirl jr Gonna cry??? 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
How is Stark to blame? Yes he created ultron but 1) Wanda was the one who pushed him to use the mindstone 2) Bruce helped when he could have easily said no and told the others 3) He is not responsible for ultron going rogue and invading sokovia how was he supposed to know that was going to happen? Also I don't agree with the accords there are other dangerous avengers out there.
@@epicfan1598 1. Wanda gave him a vision. She didn’t force him to take the scepter or to keep what he was doing from his teammates. That was all him 2. Bruce was a pushover and Tony knew that. He knew that he could easily coerce Bruce into helping him and let’s not forget, Ultron and the idea of using the scepter was all Tony. 3. Doesn’t matter what his intentions were. You just replied to me about Cap and how he kept the secret of Tony’s parents from him. Same thing applies here. Tony made the unanimous decision that Ultron needed to be made without consulting his team 1st and the end result was a homicidal robot. That’s his fault
@@icegodsavior8885 I should rephrase. I meant how is Stark the only one to be blamed. I know he should take most of the blame for ultron but not all of it. but wanda and bruce still are at fault as well. 1) Wanda gave him the vision and allowed him to take the scepter knowing it would lead to their downfall so she wanted something bad to happen and had bad intentions doing so. So she did push him to use the scepter which he had initially planned on giving to Thor had she not. That is partly her fault. No one forced her to do that. 2) Was Bruce a pushover? Maybe but in the end he still made the choice to help out instead of walking away and saying no. Tony didn't force him to help he just swayed him. It was Bruce's choice. 3) I fully agree that Tony should have consulted the rest of the team and I've said that before and that his overall execution of the Ultron Project was poor but he's not at fault for Ultron trying to commit genocide and wipe out all human beings from existence because ultron came up with that goal on its own.
Actually, if you think about it, Sokovia 100000% their fault lol, Tony literally MADE Ultron. Logically speaking would never have happened if he didn't get the stone, but shit happens right?
Naw technically it was Tony and Bruce’s fault not the team. Since they made the decision without the rest of the team. IMO both of their sides are tailored to the experience. Tony was responsible for ultron as well as the weapons he made. So his guilt lead to him signing. Cap was apart of sheild and head sheild memebers betrayed him inside sheild (hydra). So that led him to not trust governing body’s as much but individuals. I understand both sides. But I think I teeter more with team Cap. At the end of the day a government wanted control. They could’ve easily compromised and proposed better laws for the avengers instead of outright controlling their organization. PS, people forget that the government tried to nuke NY (killing a massive amount of people) if that nuke went off I wonder how many people would be swayed by them that it had to happen.
Nicky is not a normal human, he's a super soldier with enhanced speed, strength and durability with a metal arm, explains why he so strong and fast same with cap and black panther

This is like the first time I’ve seen someone that gets that Cap would never kill Tony but was just trying to shut down the suit.

Just so you know, Bucky was given super soldier serum (like Cap) during the experiments that were performed on him, so on top of his metal arm he has enhanced speed, strength and reflexes too.
Bucky kicked it at Steve so he could use his shield to contain the explosion. He wasn't being a bad guy then.

Granted, she'd probably still have brief ringing in her ears from such a close ranged blast.
here we go!!! shit goes down in phase three I'm so excited

While I like ur in depth explanation for this I LOVE ur fan boi weirdo deterrent at the end hehehe 😂

In this situation
Captain America s decision
Led to the events of wanda vision and wanda killing thousands of people
Also he lied
To Ironman
As well as didn't take responsibility as a team leader
A lot of people are trying to discredit Ironman by saying that he caused Ultron
But they also forget
That they are supposed to learn from their mistakes and not just sit there and do nothing
Captain America s decision was based on his personal greed
While Ironman s decision to be organised
And being under proper guidance is far suitable.
Aw look at little captain tard fangirl jr
Gonna cry???
🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
How is Stark to blame? Yes he created ultron but 1) Wanda was the one who pushed him to use the mindstone 2) Bruce helped when he could have easily said no and told the others
3) He is not responsible for ultron going rogue and invading sokovia how was he supposed to know that was going to happen? Also I don't agree with the accords there are other dangerous avengers out there.
@@epicfan1598
1. Wanda gave him a vision. She didn’t force him to take the scepter or to keep what he was doing from his teammates. That was all him
Peggy Carter had her own tv series that ran for 2 seasons and appeared in Agents of Shield a couple of times. Both are worth watching.
Phase 3 is about to be a madness🙌🏻 can’t wait to see you guys’ reaction to the rest of it!!!
My kinda of reaction. An hour and a half long, lots of talking, and no RUclips ads. Subbed!
In this movie I always remember that Tony, in his rage, would have killed Cap if it wasn't for a brief interruption by Bucky. Cap on the other hand would never have even considered it. Thats why always #TeamCap. Always.
No, he would have not have killed Steve at that moment, only stunned him really bad. He had chances to go all out on Steve in that fight but kept holding back.
Captain America tarda
Please
In this moment
It was captain America who was hell bent
On killing tony
If
Tony wanted
He could have shot missiles at captain America and killed
Him
Your captain tarda
Just love stating bullshit
#TEAMIRONMAN
Nah Tony would have killed Bucky there not cap. Meanwhile Cap wasn't gonna kill anyone
Bucky and cap were hell bent
On killing Ironman
Nothing more
@@cringekiller348 no they weren't.BUcky was just trying to not get killed and steve was trying to defend bucky for not getting killed. Stark in that moment was hellbent on getting revenge on Bucky although he does seem to let it go after that fight
