Baltimore city resident here, it was great seeing the Os team card. Things finally looking up for my team, great young talent. This past season was fun to watch . It's nice to look forward to Os baseball.
It happens... I've heard of toy stores - usually mom and pop ones but sometimes the bigger ones, too - finding a carton tucked away in the back and opening it to find brand new vintage toys in their boxes.
I found at one of my Big Lots was a 2012 topps update jumbo pack. Had a good pull. It was a Bryce Harper Topps gold rookie card. This was a few months ago.
I found two 2012 Topps update hanger packs at My Big Lots. They had put them out with there new inventory. They didn't even have the holes punched out to hang. They looked brand-new out-of-the-box.
I can't bring myself to buy the cards at Big lots because they're supposed to be a discount retailer and these cards are even more expensive than they would have been at Walmart. It's almost like the distributor didn't put them up in Walmart because they could sell them for a dollar more at Big lots.
At my local Big Lots in NJ, I found that same type of pack, but for 2013 Topps Series 2. I actually ran into the vendor there, which is the same one as Target.
@Phila76ersi3 Thanks Mate! I'm thinking of buying some unopened junk wax cases on Ebay or maybe some Rack Pack cases. The new stuff is incredibly hard to follow and the recent release of those Heritage High Number Hobby packs at WalMart threw me for a loop!
I think the 15 card Heritage packs are only found at Big Lots stores. The $6 price is ridiculous, considering you could find these for $5 at Target and $5.48 at Walmart, and they have 20 cards each. The only selling point for these is they have an insert in every pack, and you can still find them all over the country.
MJ Holdings distributes the cards to Big Lots. They have a huge selection of old cards they put out to the public. Ran into the 2012 jumbo packs a couple months back. I also bought a pack of 2019 Bowman platinum baseball and pulled out 2000 Topps football😂. Contacted MJ Holdings and the sent a full box of goodies😊
This is what I suspected as well. Sometimes the distributors simply have a random old pack or two in their shipment. Target stores had that this summer when many received 2015-16 basketball cards.
Last time I was in Big Lots, I found a 5-year old pack. Except it wasn't Topps baseball cards but an out of date pack of Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies sitting on a shelf. Nasty stuff. LOL
my local Big Lots recently had a fat pack of 2011 Allen & Ginter and also a jumbo pack of 2010 Series 2. My guess is that they were in the back and some employee ran across them and brought them to the shelf like in your video
Great stuff Erik. I have found older stuff at Big Lots. They also have an outside vendor reliever these cards so possible they found an old box and put it out. Same with Party City had 2017 and 2018 cards. Thanks for sharing.
I was at a checkout line in a Walmart in a small farm town and got a Mookie Betts rookie card (2014 Topps update #26) in one of those long jumbo packs when I was buying snacks 2 years ago. So sometimes...just someone finds something old in the back room. Finding a 2011 Topps pack would be amazing...maybe someday.

The sticker on the ‘13 is the type they use at Meijer’s stores, Meijer’s doesn’t discount their stale cards very much or very quickly. Big Lots bought it off them because they buy other retailers back stock.

New old stock. I recently found two 2010 Topps Baseball value packs, regular and chrome, for only $5 each at my Big Lots. Didn’t pull anything good though. You never know, there could be some forgotten 2011 update packs floating around in some Big Lots stockroom out there!

I came across those packs as well..I had to pass at $6 a pack. They've been sitting for two weeks now...3 bucks and I would have pulled the trigger for sure.
I have been collecting for about a decade or so and have had cards from every year except 2018 because I quit collecting that year. I just so happened to go to my local big lots during 2020 and they had 2018 series 1 and 2. I was able to pull some of the better rookies too
I can't believe what I found at a Big Lots. After watching this video I went to 3 Big Lots and at the ladt one on Feb 4th I found a pack of 2015-16 Donruss basketball and a 2017-18 Prestige basketball pack. $5 each. I'm not making this up ,I was shocked when I saw them.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe they were cleaning under the shelves and found old packs that slipped under there. I go and check targets all the time and find old Pokemon packs and baseball packs Etc
They stocked these a few months ago maybe around October and November. I found one 2013 jumbo pack in three 2014 update jumbo packs. All of them were $5. I got lucky and pulled a mookie Betts rookie card
Jabs my guess is that a Big Lots in the middle of nowhere closed down (Didn't they shut a bunch of stores down recently?), and dumped their inventory over some remaining stores in the region. It's incredible how non-existent the trading card market is in some areas.
4-5 months ago in a Dollar Tree in N.C. I found 3 packs of 2018-19 NBA Hoops hidden under a display shelf. Found a Trae Young rated rookie 😪 no luck finding a Luka rc. BTW, that was the last time Panini sent Dollar Tree NBA packs.
@@apexsensation Lucky you I guess!! Here in N.C. I've been checking the same 10 Dollar Tree stores for the past 2 years and every one of the mgrs said their vendor hasn't brought any. Just Dunruss Baseball & Pokemon.
$6 bucks these packs, if you wait they get reduced down to $2.50. I completed my 2019 heritage going that route, this was prior to the craziness that is now buying baseball cards.
i found 2011 topps update at west virginia rite aid got 6 packs they had. went back a few weeks later and it was a new drug chain. no cards... rite aid in ohio i got all their optic baseball and prizm basketball last year. just that one had em

Most likely, Big Lots was doing inventory and someone found it under or behind a shelf or in the back room.
For how much of a target they are, I'm kind of surprised they aren't kept under lock and key, like the electronics are.
A few months back I found a jumbo pack of Topps 2011 series 1 and like a 2015 Topps at my Big Lots. I opened them and didn't get much but was pretty cool though.
I love the 2020 Heritage set. With that being said I probably spent close to $200 on packs. Still have yet to find a relic or autograph.
Hobby boxes are the way to go for autos and relics.

Bi-mart also had these tennis cards for $1 a pack so I bought a bunch of them and pulled a few Roger Federer and Serena Williams rookie cards.

I found a 2012 Topps and 2014 Stadium Club pack. MJ Holding stocks Big Lots so those older packs come from them.
