    The 125K was super generous!
    I thought he would have jumped at the opportunity to take the deal, I would have.
    50K to spend on grading and that in itself is a huge gamble at that, what if the grades that come back are low, to much risk I think.

    Id hope theres a better binder somewhere else that they didnt show, because it looks like just a base set binder and the backs of the cards certainly didnt look like gem mint cards. 125k was a MONSTER offer the dude should have jumped on that, unless theres an absolute ton of singles they didnt show. Great episode. Great offer. You would be crazy to spend more than 160 with the risk and effort all on the buyer. 300-500k max value, so you gotta start at 300 to account for risk, luck, and effort. Subtract 50-75 on grading is 225-250. Then 60-70% is more than you can expect to get when selling to a reseller. That like 135-175k. That was in my head as fast I can type, so do not quote me on it. If I was a gambling and hustling man, I would go up to 160.

    I hate the upcharge thing. Please tell me why BGS doesn't do it, but PSA insists on charging you more just to give it a better grade. It's still being authenticated and slabbed. Nothing about the upcharges makes any remote sense and that is why I never grade with PSA!!! EVER!.

    • @DanielCordone9
      @DanielCordone9 2 месяца назад +1

      BGS are the best of a bad bunch. Don't grade with PSA and just buy mint looking PSA 6's. Most are flawless.

    • @jeffw654
      @jeffw654 2 месяца назад

      One reason is that BGS doesn't guarantee any of the cards they grade. If a card turns out to be fake in a BGS slab that you bought, they won't do anything 99% of the time. I'm not saying it is worthy of the full upcharge from PSA but just that PSA has to put money away for cases when fake cards slip through.
      An upcharge would be annoying for PC cards, but an upcharge on a non-PC card would mean that it has graded higher than you expected and that you should net higher profits than if you graded with BGS, factoring in all fees.

      Everyone will want to buy it if the price is right. 125 k was a fair offer but would have to see the singles in person because the grades everything. 9's and 10's are extremely rare when it comes to vintage Pokemon as initially it was a kids game and kids did not worry so much about condition so not much really old Pokemon in like new condition. Nine times out of ten pack fresh Pokemon cards will grade a 9 or a 10. So if the singles are in pack fresh condition there very well could be well over 125k in value but if they are mostly 7's and 8's then they are nothing too special and 125k would seem really fair.

      Now for grading those singles. You want to look for print lines in the holos, and scratches. Those can take the card down a grade alone in and of itself. Along with what you said of the other aspects of the condition of the cards, whitening on the back and front of the cards. Centering of the cards is important too but back then the centering was almost always very good. A lot of Pokémon buyers are in fact binder collectors/ set collectors and do not want graded cards. Sure you can make more if they grade well, but you can get a better turn around selling them raw. Definitely an awesome find!

      Doesn’t make any sense at all. So you open a 200$ hobby box pull a card worth 10k. Do you sell it for a 2k bc the box only cost 200. No. You try to maximize what you got. Sell it for what it’s worth. This goes for everything. You bought. House in 1980 for 100k. It’s worth 2 million today. Do you sell for 1 million. No. You sell at market or as close to Market value as possible

      Ya the guy just needs to be patient and he'll maximize his sale on the stuff. Sure 125k sounds great.....but so does 200k.....250k. I think it's a good thing he went with the auction

    He’s set on the 500k. What if you offered 125k then split 50/50 anything over double your investment? Basically once you get 250k in value, he gets 50% of anything over that…
    He wouldn’t feel like he’s leaving 375k on table if it turned out to really be worth 500-600k. And you’re not risking a fortune.

  • @victorfrankenstein50202

    Disappointed that he didn’t go for the $125k, but he had a goofball chirping in his ear, telling him it was worth $550k. What he didn’t tell him was the fact that it’s worth that kind of value if was already graded (high), and deemed all authentic. People like this get the big frying pan eyes 👀 when they hear what it could be worth, not having any knowledge in this market. He literally had a few hundred invested, and could have turned into $125k, with ZERO risk, and that was just for the few boxes of Pokémon Cards. Even if he countered with a couple hundred thousand, then maybe $150k might have got it, but he had that HALF MILLION number stuck in his head from that other dummy.

    In my opinon 125k is way too much of a risk ! He will probably never get anywhere near that price point. Everything has to be in flawless condition gem mint , second it is going to take along time to try to get
    500k.

    Grading isn't cheap and vintage cards don't grade as well as modern. Hopefully the guy does well but seems like he isn't aware of how much more money he would need to invest just to maybe see those numbers he is thinking its worth. Super cool episode though.

    Yes sealed is easy. However you dont just throw the singles in. There is significant value there as well but more investment and work to put into them to grade and get a fair market value for them. I am both a sealed and collector of single cards. Likely 50-100k of each. If i decided to sell there isnt a chance in hell that Im taking market value for the sealed and then just throw all my singles in. I would go to my grave with them before that happened.

      @@CHASINGCARDBOARD well maybe I suppose there is a small chance that is true. However even if there is a God and heaven and hell and all that of all the hundreds of different religions, gods and beliefs how do you know yours is the real one. The way I see it you can choose anyone of those religions and God's but it's unlikely you will pick the right one or you can choose common sense. That was my choice and common sense tells me they are all imaginary tales passed down for generations. That's why they are all different.

      i didnt see any incredibly valuable singles, just base set unlimited stuff. Sure its worth grading, but hes gonna be sad when he gets 100k for everything which is most likely. Theres like 20k in singles that I can see. Gold stars, 1st editions in pristine condition, etc would bring the value up a LOT more but didnt see it.

    None of that stuff was first edition or “first prints” that I saw. And not sure who said that most Japanese are worth more than English versions, the majority of cards are worth more as English. There are a few exceptions though with cards having different art on Japanese and English versions like Sabrina’s gengar. All being said that is one hell of a score, now to do the work to sell it. Most storage buyers I know don’t want to find end buyers they want to find someone to take it all.

    We DO NOT want CC to become a a TV show! Organtic and real shows like CC get ruined once they go to "Hollywood". Plus cable TV is a dying industry.
