Sometimes I enjoy painting with my palette knife. For now on imma be like: "MOM where is my knife that looks like the toy that you tell your kid it's a knife that cuts fruits and the fruits are actually connected with Velcro???"
I’ve had a tough weekend, with a death in the family and emergency trip to Puerto Rico, where I’ll miss one of my college classes, so having you upload and having your videos to watch really makes my day ❤️
I love your channel so much, i can't tell you how comfortable i feel while watching you and you inspire me to work more loosely (i'm usually really afraid to just draw something from imagination for example)
Honestly, the beginning of the canvas painting was so hard for me to watch, because I kept picturing myself trying to paint that and, gosh you have so much perseverance because I would've gotten so frustrated and threw it out 🤣
Can I just say Rin's videos are just so calming to watch. As someone who has anxiety everytime I watch your videos it always calms me. I'm never anxious watching your videos. Thank you Rin for your videos!
YES! I got my October artsnacks box yesterday, and I’ve been WAITING for you to open either your August or September or October one. Also, I love your art so much! I’ve been watching you for at least a year and a half - maybe even two years - and you inspire me to draw so much and you’re the one who mainly got me into art. Watching your videos makes my day and I’m so happy to have discovered you!
(Editing because I hadn't finish the video yet until later): I love the fact that you're using the green as the shading because in that reference that's exactly what's happening with the Green leaves bouncing off that white. You may not notice, but you *are* actually looking at color differently as you do these limited color pallets and I'm noticing that it's having you enjoy your art more and just *as* frustrated. (you do still get frustrated, but it's becoming less often and you're enjoying the results more often of the final piece) Part of the reason why the Sap Green doesn't go more neon is because it's more of a Warmer green and thus more desaturated as the yellow and blue in it is more warm. The Lime Green is more cooler and thus the yellow in the green is actually cooler. So while the yellow you used to lighten it up is cooler than the Sap green that you used to lighten it, the warmer yellow and blue within the green is keeping it from becoming the cooler green you wanted. I hope this helps because I know color theory isn't the most easiest thing to learn.
Exactly! The shading here was lovely to see. Straying from how paints work with hard to mix cools and warms, a big part of the 'neon' effect of cooler colours also comes from the rarity of blue lighting in the nature we perceive - it's also in our heads. A blue-tinted white will nearly always give off a brighter, more unnatural look, because that kind of colour in a natural setting mostly means artificial lighting (or bioluminescence), while yellow-tinted whites seem more 'real' and thus less 'neon', because brown and green tones are what natural shadows reflect outdoors, and fire and sunlight tend to give a warmer effect than artificial lighting.
@@EmmaJohnsonShenanigans It's more that there's two different temperatures for each color. You can have a warm blue and a cool blue for example. The warm blue would have a bit more red in it so it's closer to purple while the cool blue is closer to a true blue. So in this case you want to avoid using two different temperatures of the two colors you want to choose to mix. If you want to mix sap green with more yellow. You want to use a warmer yellow like a sun yellow instead of a lemon Yellow (which is cooler) otherwise, the Lemon yellow will actually turn the sap green more gray and not as vibrant. Now if you want to mix the Lemon Yellow with a Lime Green, then they will actually become brighter.
Beautiful in all its stages. I love watching your process and love listening to how you talk about your art and color, form, etc. I think I'm finally going to finish a gouache landscape I started in April (and have been avoiding finishing in fear of making it worse). Thanks for the video and thanks, always, for the inspiration!
wow! You are so amazing at art! no matter what supplies u use, it always surprises me that u always find a way to create something amazing. keep up the good work. i hope to become as good as you.
Yes - that's exactly how you build a painting! Rough in blobs of paint and slowly refine from there. You stop when you get to the level of done-ness you like, or you get sick of looking at it. A layer of that gel medium on top of the entire painting (once it is very dry) will seal everything in, give it a consistent sheen, and protect the paint underneath. You can also mis small amounts of color into the gel medium to make glazes. You use glazes on top of the dry underpainting to shift the perceived color, but also allow the color underneath to shine through. That's how painters make that lifelike glow and depth of color. That's typically how painting mediums to work. You want the slower-drying layers on top so the paint doesn't dry unevenly and crackle Good job as always! Thanks for another great video!

Watercolor pencil in color 'lagoon' appears to be purple like to me, idk why🤷♀️
Same w me
Same for me but I'm colourblind so I just assumed I'd got it wrong again 😅😂
it appears to be a warm blue, which leans closer to purple. it would look purple in comparison to a cooler blue like turquoise or cobalt, but if you compare it to the purple shade of the marker she used on the opposite side of her swatch sheet thr pencil appears much more blue.
@@CaroXZombieShockXMCR thanks, as for an artist it was a bit of a struggle for me to understand if it's just the camera or a warmer tone of color
Oh thank jeebus, I thought it was just me. 😆

I'm always awestruck by anyone that can get acrylics looking half decent, I admit I'm terrified of them. Great picture and you've given me the confidence to attempt to use acrylic to paint something, I'll take your advice and just see the blobs :) Great video as always. Big loves Jxxx
