I’ve been handcuffed and physically brutalized by police on more than one occasion. I’m throwing everything I have into a degree that will hopefully allow me a better shot of getting out of this not being able to get a decent job because of your criminal history situation (where I’ve been stuck for a long long time now). I’ve been consistently harassed by police, called every racial slur in the book, threatened, and laughed at every time I was the victim of a violent crime. There are real issues with policing in this country and it’s much much worse for people living in the ghetto. That being said, it can also be true that, and it’s why people living in these zip codes, are much less likely to support abolishing all police. As bad as things are currently, I promise you that there are in fact people in this world capable of a level of violence that we can’t allow in our societies.

Just a note, that the standard in living between Bulgaria and the US, is so stark, that even with all the insane fees and extortion that the traffickers were doing. The workers were making twice as much as they would have, had, they stayed in Bulgaria. Now, I know the traffickers were taking $250 a month off them for their rent, but were other utilities included in this or were they also having to completely support themselves? Were meals provided? Were other perks provided? I mean, it's a slam dunk that these guys were in the wrong. Probably didn't get enough of a sentence regarding their punishment. I’ve been handcuffed and physically brutalized by police on more than one occasion. I’m throwing everything I have into a degree that will hopefully allow me a better shot of getting out of this not being able to get a decent job because of your criminal history situation (where I’ve been stuck for a long long time now).
I’ve been consistently harassed by police, called every racial slur in the book, threatened, and laughed at every time I was the victim of a violent crime. There are real issues with policing in this country and it’s much much worse for people living in the ghetto.
That being said, it can also be true that, and it’s why people living in these zip codes, are much less likely to support abolishing all police. As bad as things are currently, I promise you that there are in fact people in this world capable of a level of violence that we can’t allow in our societies.
