The Most Fun I Have Had In A Car! Ginetta G55 SuperCup | SCD Driven

- I was going to say I’ve never had as much fun in a car for £90,000, but really, I’ve never had as much fun in a car full stop, and the members who had the chance to drive the car on the day were equally besotted.
The G55 isn’t a car you can drive from home to the track if you’re buying it as a toy, but trust me, this thing gives you more than you can imagine over a road-legal, track-focused supercar in the right environment, and the consumables are deliberately made to be far cheaper too, so you’re not crippling your wallet on pads and tyres after a day’s abuse, and you’re not remortgaging your house if you end up in the gravel.
Thanks to the guys at Ginetta Car for the opportunity!

The noise of the gearbox is amazing 😍
You need a drive in it mate!
Love the look of this car. The front is like an Exige, and this is how the Evora lights should have looked.
It's like a mix between a viper acr and a Honda s2k!
True! Can see that
And 100% under rated
Cool film. Really gave an insight on the experience of getting into a real race car.
Glad you enjoyed it, our first time with slicks and aero was quite the eye opener! Thanks for watching
If you drive it, or if you even play it on a good realistic simulator game, you will instantly notice it's the ultimate closed-wheel racing car. It might not be the most powerful, but it has the right amount of power x manouverability x aero which produces extremely fun races. The car itself is also not forgiving without ABS and TC (as any great race should be in my opinion, though nothing wrong with GT3, I love them too), but if you master it it will reward you greatly, which is the most fun learning curve really. The word he used "Visceral" really defines it.
The Cyclone is a great engine. I love it in my 2014 Mustang
Ginettas are awesome...they should sell these cars for the road world wide...that would be awesome
Enjoyed that!
Thanks for watching!
Great video, seen these live many times as the support races to the BTCC. I now want one myself.
Thanks for watching! We want one too! Such a lot of car for the money and mind blowing on track.
They make these just down the road from me. Great cars
Have you been round the factory before?
@@scd I have not unfortunately. But i often see them coming out of the industrial estate after they have been built.
Good looking car
It’s so well proportioned but it was designed for performance ultimately
They're amazing little cars. You can buy the base G5 for not much more than an Elise. Obviously that wouldn't have a 3.8 motor, but still pretty swift with a 2.3 Focus RS engine. Great cars.
It looked and sounded awesome. Must be even better with a race livery to add a splash of colour.
Food for thought as it went past the 600LT. Maybe the sweet spot is: One of these and a regular sports car say 911 (for road use) for less than the price of many a Supercar but many time’s the thrills on track.
Couldn’t agree more! What do you really need performance wise in a road car? On track this will give you thrills a road car could never do! Deffo needs a cool livery on it too. Thanks for watching
Ginetta is love ❤️ much more fun in race action 🏎🔥
Cant wait! Testing one at Silverstone on 26th August. I wonder how it will feel to drive the 458 back home afterwards....?
it's like corvette !! just a mix !
The cyclone was severely underrated imo. Same power per litre as the early coyote.
Happily would spin to 7800+rpm with just a tune. In my 2013 mustang with 3.73 gears, steeda st tune, intake and exhaust on st tires it ran consistent low 13s. If the s550 had been lighter it would've been a proper motor indeed. 🤔
Your right on the weight, if these could of been in a 3000-3200lb frame it would of been faster then a 370z. 2012 3.7 auto owner Here, Circle d, 355 gears, ported intakes matched to heads, coyote 80mm throttle body. Manley .020 pistons and rods. Shorties with cheap high flow cats. Shift points 7500-7700. 12.6@108. On street tires I can hit 60mph 4.5 seconds hit 100Mph at 11.2. Best dyno with cats is 316whp @ 7100 holds 300whp till 7700. Its the greatest v6 N/a ford ever made.
you make me jealous !
would like to drive this car for some hours also, although I already have a great car = Porsche Cayman 981 ..
I like these cars
Im just driving this in a sim which as just been addded to Automobilista 2
Now that is a supercar worth it's price tag!
Is it a supercar tho ?
@@blessedafricarains6429it’s a cup car, difference between a supercar and cup car, one belongs in Australia and one lives in the uk
If you can afford to buy one, you have to dude!
Fancy going halves? 👻
AMS2!
Curious where that engine whine comes from if it a NA 3.7 Ford engine.
The whine is from the gearbox.
@@darkchild130 gotcha. Super solid chassis then. Wow. Love how it sounds.
@@AtticAZ it's a glorious machine imo
It doesn't sound like a 3.7. I just watched a G55 lap Sebring and it sounded raspy like a 3.7 would. Ignoring the gearbox whine, this sounds like a V8. I bet he drive their V8 car and didn't even know it. Dunno.
sounds like metal to metal grinding
Sorry guys it is not clear - are you saying this is NOT road legal?
Yep not road legal - track only
your steering wheel is on the wrong side bro
Ford . boooooo
front engine design proportions are really ugly, it's like ur driving a big shoe or boots, it's rare that a front engine design gets the proportions right, a C5 corvette gets it right and certain aston martins get it right also
