"World's Most Advanced Humanoid Robot" Can Now Have Full Conversations

  • Ameca, a half-impressive, half-absolutely horrifying robot with genuine facial expressions, was recently shown to us as an easy way for humans and robots to communicate with one another. It's all very "Uncanny Valley," but it's impressive to see the state of the art in action.
    The good news is that Ameca has recently been improved. British scientists have given the chatbot GPT-3 the ability to converse naturally without human guidance. Humanoid robots like the one they built are a reality today; they can move their faces in a convincing manner and carry on a natural dialogue.
    While you might think that Ameca's responses would be scripted, Engineered Arts explained that this isn't the case.
    "Nothing in this film is pre programmed," they stated. "The model is given a simple prompt explaining Ameca, providing the robot a description of self.
    The Engineered Arts crew probes Ameca with a variety of inquiries in this clip.
    Assistance with the disabled, aid in dangerous areas, research, and companionship are all examples.
    On the contrary, the robot didn't appear to be in the greatest mood, saying it was "feeling a little depressed" when asked how it was doing.
    According to Engineered Arts, the robot serves as a testing ground for new methods of human-robot interaction, and in the official video, Ameca suggests many potential uses, from assisting people in dangerous circumstances to serving as a friend for lonely people. At any case, the proven compatibility between chatbots and humanoid robots suggests that it won't be long before you're greeted by a robot assistant in stores, workplaces, and maybe even fast-food restaurants.
    While Ameca can't walk at the moment, Engineered Arts says it is working on a walking version, and designed the robot to be modular and upgradable.
    'There are many hurdles to overcome before Ameca can walk. Walking is a difficult task for a robot, and although we have done research into it, we have not created a full walking humanoid,' the firm said.
    Engineered Arts has not revealed how much the robot cost to make as it is still in development.
    Let us know in the comments! How far can AI develop? And how this could affect us?
    And as always, make sure to like, subscribe and check our website at www.techwiki.co.
    Thanks for watching.

    I have to confess, seeing the other robot back there turning its head to see Ameca wake up scared me a bit, it's almost as if both machines knew they were being controlled, it gave me a Detroit Become Human vibe when the androids "awaken" each other to others.

    It's gonna be really really amazing. We need to be careful with this. Because at some point it will improve very very fast. Possibly without input from us. We could easily lose control of it..

      @@gonewithlonna6109 with AI it's a wild card. If there is no control it can define anything it wants. We have to be careful. It's the same as controlling atomic bomb use, only it would be more widespread, because all you need to do is download the application and use it. Imagine if everyone could use an atomic bomb. Or imagine if the atomic bomb had will. Understand?

    • @danytargaerys712
      @danytargaerys712 Год назад

      @@tidaltidaltidal robotics and AI are slightly different. I'm focusing on AI and how far it can go. AI will improve, and that's a given. How much it improves is the question. Right now AI is in its infancy.. in a few decades AI will be far superior to us, and it will improve itself, with no input from us, in an accelerated manner. Imagine for instance that a neural AI doubles it's thinking capability every year. Within one year it will be twice as fast, one more year it will be four times faster. In another year it will be eight times faster. Then sixteen times, thirty two times, sixty four times, a hundred and twenty eight times. And so on. It could become over a thousand times better within twenty years. And it will continue to improve in an accelerated fashion. It would be good enough to easily circumvent any safety measure we put in place. It's going to be something we can't even imagine right now. It will travel space, time and multiple dimensions. Funny huh? Just wait and see..

    Is someone watching the interview off screen and generating reactions accordingly and thus controlling the robots facial gestures? You can see the mecha imitating the asian fellow @ 1:36 in real time. This seems to be the case. And they may also be speaking answers which the mecha is expressing to. So a human operator is off screen controlling her.

    🇧🇷🇧🇷 Ameca seems to have few circuits and mechanism to able her to do so much automatically. It seems she is more an animatronic than a autonomous robot. Look at her: we can see hers few body mechanisms and , for having an AI on it's own, hers mechanisms seems to be quite too simple. Plus, why does always have people close to her in order for her to " work properly "?

  • @paulolima6407
    @paulolima6407 Год назад +1

    A "depressed" robot is not impressive. I need the details. You should have asked: why are you overwhelmed? What happened? What being depressed feels like? Are you less motivated? What does it mean to feel overwhelm? Etc. Without knowing SEVERAL details and analyzing the speech, I won't be impressed at all. You can program a robot to say something like "depressed", I don't care about vague claims from programmers that the conversation wasn't scripted. Not buying it.
