I'm not sure that I agree with Maria about the mortgage. Maria does not have to pay his mortgage but she needs to contribute her share of the bills. Would it be different if he said she should pay for food and utilities, and contribute to entertainment and other expenses? Whatever she pays, it will impact his paying the mortgage. Does that mean she does not have to pay anything? Wasn't she renting before? This is a relationship on a reality show with a low probability of success. There is NO WAY that her name should go on that house. If they are married for years then yes. But at the start of a marriage destined for failure, she will not make enough payments to affect the mortgage before their break up.
I don't think enough people are talking about Tom. He claims to be a high powered PR executive. I don't believe him. His woman can't be a housewife, and has to split the bills. Most men in high places have a housewife. And if you can comfortably pay your mortgage why ask your new wife to help you pay? Tom is lying about his job or he's having financial issues.

Dating in the US is not like dating in Europe. And some European countries take the cake because you got to split that bill. Going dutch is a thing over here. You may find some Kind souls to pay everything but it's the exception not the rule. Perhaps American guys may change but time will tell.
