It just makes sense that Kyoshi would help Aang during the attack at Kyoshi Island. I think the animated Kyoshi could have helped Aang more. Roku took the spotlight for himself
In books, communication with previous avatars can happen this way, like a "possession". Kyoshi took over Aang's body. in the cartoon it happened the same way, both kyoshi and roku do this with aang.
I think the kyoshi character here adapted some part in season 3 of the original series. In the original series, Aang hesitated if to kill Ozai before the final battle. Kyoshi was the one who had no hesitation to encourage Aang to take Ozai’s life.
I've never seen the actual show but I do know a little bit about some of the characters. That being said I loved this first season. Can't wait for Season 2. I plan on watching the original animated series soon.
it didnt happen this episode but it happend twice in the show once with Roku and once with Kyoshi. Roku was in the firetemple and once in the filler episode in season 2 with Kyoshi. personally i love the scroll change it makes tottaly sense for a watertripe village to have bending scrolls.

Here's what they did. Instead of making Sokka a sexist jerk for 5 minutes of the series and have him overcome it and be humble, his story arc is now "I want to be a warrior, but really I'm a nerd and my dad is disappointed in me." So when Suki shows him up, it's really rubbing it in his face. Instead this episode became about boy crazy Suki. She starts off a good warrior, and feels bad for embarrassing him with her good warrior...ness, and gives him warrior lessons. Also she wants to leave the island and see the world. Hopefully we get a season 2 and hopefully they pay that arc off, because abandoning Sokka's growth moment for that isn't really worth it. I think he channels Kyoshi in "Avatar Day" where Sokka is a detective. And he channels Roku at the Roku shrine.
That's because they nixed the sexism arc; he did it in order to learn the respect and honor that the KW command, and it was (in a way) a form of humiliation for his behavior.
@@basicsimp8798 I agree with you as well. I wasn't mad that they removed it just a little disappointed if that makes sense. At the very least they could have kept him wearing the uniform to show him how it makes the kyoshi warriors different from regular warriors maybe?
I hope Roku is prominent in the show. I know Kyoshi is a fan favorite (and it makes sense for Aang to summon her on her island), but Roku is significant for starting what Aang had to finish. Aaaand I wish the fans weren't still seen as a feminine tool/accessory despite their unisex identity in East Asian cultures. Hopefully Sokka makes use of it.
I'm disappointed that they removed Sokka's misogyny. On the other hand, I like Zhao better in this series than in the original. In the original, he was basically just an arrogant hothead but here he is more subtle and manipulative.
You know the original creators were pretty involved in the shamalan movie right? I don't get why people are obsessed with original creators being involved heavily in movie or TV adaptations. They like to change things alot that they didn't think of putting in the original or couldn't. Rick Riordon was very involved in the Percy Jackson series and that show changed so much from the book.

It also happened in a filler episode of the cartoon in season 2. An Earth Kingdom town was putting Aang on trial for Kyoshi killing their leader.

I liked the stuff between suki and sokka here more than i did in the cartoon
I like all the changes, making it faster pace. You might only think it's rushed cause you have seen the animated series.

I agree as well but I do like he still wore some of the armor they had over their outfits which to me was a decent compromise.
Seriously, it was important that Sokka was humbled in the early episodes since in the future his sexist mindset is proven false.
