Need to change your channel name to funnylilgalcries because the tear bending is off the charts with the Avatar series as a whole. Love your reactions!
Watching Aang deal with Zuko and his troops only reinforces that the only reason the Fire Nation was not blown away (pun intended) by the Air Nomads was because of the comet in the sky.
Monk Gyatso trying to protect all of the children in the Southern Air Temple broke me. Just him running past the female air nomad who was holding back the Fire Nation soldiers - I sobbed so loudly.
26:36 Dallas Liu is a very skilled and talented martial artist. He actually is doing most of his own stunts alongside Gordon (Aang). They are absolutely awesome actors.
3 episodes in and I’m enjoying it! Some missteps, some flaws, but the casting is spot-on, the choreography is fantastic, and as a die-hard ATLA fan I’m satisfied. I didn’t go into this show expecting it to even touch the original and it has exceeded my lowered expectations. Critics have been harsh, but negative reviews were trending before the show even aired. Many WANT to dislike the show but audience scores are higher and I’m seeing most are happy.
YES!!! I have been WAITING for your reaction!!!! I binged this series and my god, yes, I tearbended ALOT during this series, I think it is a different take but so good. I cannot wait to see all of your reactions to this series!

It being better than the movie doesn’t make it good. The first episode gave me a headache just like the movie. And both do not understand the source material

Etsy made me tear bend a bit was realizing Monk Kiatso (sp) didn't know about Aangs safety. His last thoughts were fearing for his friends life. Also it looked like Monk Kiatso was holding the glider Aang took from Zuko's quarters.
I finished the the season with my wife on day one. Needless to say we were tear bending more than I care to admit. It’s not our OG avatar, but the story develops in a way I wasn’t expecting and surprisingly rooting for it!
i love your reactions so much i started crying with you 😭 everyone's so negative for no reason, thank you for being relatable to fellow big big atla fans
Loved your reaction. So far I'm very happy with this reimagining of the animated show. The sets, costumes and bending look great. The acting by the kids and adults is solid. Aang is easy to love, Katara is appropriately caring and one can see her journey & growth is just starting, and Sokka is Sokka. Looking forward to your future reactions.
I watched the series and I see lots more tearbending coming your way. If I had to compare the two series, I say they both have the same “Avatar spirit” or exist in the “same Avatar universe”, both are fun, both have great character development and both have their own unique storylines. Don’t worry about comparisons and just have fun. Can’t wait to see you react to the next episode! And Zuko. If you love Zuko, you’ll probably adore what’s coming throughout the entire series. 😍
@@eglantinepapeau1582haunts your dreams? Dude what was she even doing? She must’ve been spinning for minutes in that tornado and Sozin just casually walks up and incinerates her it’s so forced and funny.
The weird thing with how visceral they chose to make the deaths in the attack on the Air Nomads, they decided to erase one of the the darkest aspects of the original series. When Aang finds Gyatso’s remains they are surrounded by the corpses of a bunch of Fire Nation soldiers, popular theory is that Gyatso used the same technique Zaheer used in LoK to suffocate them. It’s an odd choice to have the “Worlds Greatest Airbender” according to Aang resorting to just trying to push the soldiers trying to attack the children he is guarding away, and not making use of anything advanced.
I do find interesting how the production telegraohs to all the animation fans that this will not tonally be the same show you remember with that cold open. Seeing all the reactions of people shocked and horrified by that first immolation is very telling of what some were expecting.
Just binged the season. Without spoiler : they changed a lot, but the spirit of the show is intact and everything works for me, that's a very good adaptation. Eager to see your reactions, I need someone to cry with me. :)
Thank you not expecting a 1-1 recreation of the show! I’m enjoying it for what it is and it makes me sad when people are mad that it’s not exactly the same as the show.
Not being a 1-1 recreation, and having no nuance are not the same thing. Even if you haven't seen the cartoon, the TV Show is "meh" at best. Looking to the camera and announce your feelings? Whoever wrote this nonsense should be fired and go work in fastfood or something.
I binged it on Thursday and loved it. Yes it’s different not 1:1 but the changes made make sense and some I think better than the og. They nailed the important bits and even go 1:1 on the dialogue with what happens. Only major complaint is bumi but I think it still works.
You know whats sad? I never tought of it But aangs friends those little airbender kids all died that day by sozin And this live show just reminded me of that little kids where also involved
@@ooiiooiiooii bad job in live action? No airbender survive in the cartoons either It was an ambush, yk why? Because there was an airbender traitor Who told there location to sozin
@@Moesie It was an ambush because the timing was unexpected. The Air Temples locations aren't secret, it's just that no one except the airbenders or people the airbenders accompany could reach them at that point in history (other than firebenders during the comet obviously)
Aang said that, and I see the dragons going, “What are we, chopped liver?” Maybe they can’t reach them the way the bison can, and it was the Fire Nation using the power of the comet to fly… I dunno, even in the show itself it felt a bit of a plot hole. Especially if the Mechanist was able to reach the Northern Air Temple leading a few score refugees… And the Temples would have been another reason to give this four seasons instead of rushing to the North Pole in one season (it’s unfortunate that we need to cut a lot of the locations on the way there). Would also have let them introduce more stuff out of order like Azula and a number of minor characters… ah, well.
Your reactions are so wholesome! I love it! I had never seen the animated version. Watching all 8 episodes made me jump into the animated version right where this leaves off. I am conflicted, though. I can't honestly say which one I like better. The jovial, Immature tone of the animated show, or the darker, more serious tone of the live action. I'm edging slightly to the live action, though. Keep up the great work!
I was so excited for this reaction and was not disappointed. I always appreciate that you let yourself feel and express the emotions of it. While I was watching it myself, I cried a lot. A lot of people are fixated so far on what's been taken out, ignoring what's been added. They're missing Aang's playful almost oblivious disposition--but in return we were shown that this was a real war, with real consequences not: 'did Jet just....die?' and 'you know it was really unclear' they made it very clear that this is a war, and with war comes loss, pain, people get hurt, people pass. It hits home when they show children running from the assault on the air temples. I'm okay completely with the changes they made because this is I think, going to be a far darker ride. I hope you continue to enjoy it!!! ( I sure did)
Yoooo this was more than I could have ever expected it to be and then some. Like my mom and I had the chance to watch it and good lord all the emotions were definitely there and I got a little teary eyed watching it cause I was actually proud of how It turned out and everything that happened and it was just absolutely all around 10 out 1,000
Watched your FL to this last night and am much like yourself, very happy (with some *tiny* reservations - mostly re line-delivery from kids, easily forgiven). The OG is a perfect meal/song/piece of art & tbh, had they tried to replicate it exactly they'd NEVER have succeeded so I'm more than happy to get slightly alternate takes on some events, have others fleshed out a bit and just (even if it's a Star Wars Legends-style where you can make headcanon certain events if you want) be in this world some more. Looking forward to watching the rest again with you.
I think that Katara being nearby had an effect on the avatar state like as the Avatar, Aang sensed that a bender was near and it drew Katara and Sokka to him for help [always wondered why ocean would have rapids when I watched the original] and then when Katara started bending right by him, that triggered his escape.
As far as live action adaptations go and well my rule of judging a series after watching 3 episodes I have to say I'm loving how they adapted it so far. Especially the tone we aren't kids anymore so having a more mature tone to the series was the right call. Apart from that I love what they did to Sokka just loving it!
I totally agree with you, I've been talking about the future of the Avatar Kyoshi anime series for years but everyone is waiting for the adult version of Ang to arrive. I love her tough brutal girl personality the most, if kyoshi were a god she would be the god of war You'll feel it a bit in episode 2, Aang, you should be ready for the brush, Kyoshi won't take pity on you. 🤣🤣🤣
I was one who was hopful, not skeptical at all, I loved the trailers and after watching it, I was disappointed. They made a lot of changes that I still don't like, but I'm rewatching it now, and it's starting to grow on me! Its WAAAAY better then the movie that's for sure!
This i have been waiting for a long time ahhhh Both in seeing it and watching your reaction to it, personally i have been enjoying it a lot, the cast is still young and fresh so I'm fine that they are still trying to find their way with performance, and would never hold it against them. As for the visuals they are perfect i love the bending skills and how they are designed, how they world looks and how the wildlife looks in this live action adaption. Some people seem to have issues with the shortness of how they are moving the story along, at the loss of key events and character connections been loosely portrayed. but im enjoying it all of it. A couple of personally highlights the entire opening sequence I loved seeing the whole story play out between the Fire Nation and the Air Nation (even if back form the animated series the mystery of Aangs story was a little stronger the way it was told) I don't recall the artifacts lighting up that signaled to Zuko that the avatar was back (also loved the fact that the artifacts revealed mow much searching for the Avatar that Zuko had already done to date) one other cool Zuko thing in the production design that the inner walls of his quarters were shaped like dragon scales which looked AWESOME as production design goes. Im loving the performance with Dallas and Paul (Zuko and Iroh) really enjoying Ian's performance (Sokka) and Gordon is lovable as Aang, Kiawentiio (Katara) starts to improve and im sure as more experience comes along she will only get stronger. All in all loved the first episode felt the feels in the right place for me, and enjoyed your reaction to Episode 1 cant wait to see more.
One of the coolest things about the earth benders, every one always said "Why didnt he put the wall BEHIND him" and hes like "I did" and just fights half a dozen fire benders. THis guy may have very well been a dai lee agent. No other earth benders in the show have had such " i didnt here no bell" energy. Earth benders dont run.
I can totally see why the original creators left now, but I really dig the slight changes they've made to various characters and storylines. It really helps give this new show its own identity.
13:25 Remember, traditionally, they always told the Avatar or revealed the Avatar when they were 16 years old. Due to the fact that Sozin was mobilizing and planning his campaign against the other nations since Roku passed on, Aang was told at 12 years old because they felt it was necessary. In this case, according to the story, Gyatso revealed it to him now which prompted Aang to fly away in order to think. In comparison to the animated series, Aang left because over time, since he was told he was the Avatar, the others isolated him and he felt singled out. It was when they told him he needed to leave that it was the final straw and he ran away. Both story versions, the way they were written was pretty good imo. Netflix did have to compress the story of book one into 8 one hour long episodes.
Angela as someone who has a water tribe tattoo and is a cancer zodiac, I cried SOOO much during this series and I couldn’t wait to see how much you cried and for me to cry with you a second time😂😂❤️❤️
I loved your reaction Angela, and like you, I was so worried about this because the animated series was so perfect to me. I like the changes they made and I like the darker edge. Unlike the Shyamalan atrocity, they didn’t rely on lengthy exposition but showed us what happened so we can understand why these characters behave the way they do. I’m three episodes in and I think this is a winner so far. When I tell you I was BAWLING when I realised that Gyatso was with the childern (and Aang would see that). I mean I was crying the entire attack but that part really got me. After Gyatso vs Sozin I was just in shock and had to take few minutes to calm down.
Me being dull as fuck and not crying 🫥
It's alright I didn't use to cry while watching stuff or listening to music but for the past year I have done that more. But people experience things in different ways and you don't have to cry when not feeling like it. I doesn't make you dull it makes you different and that is okay.@v9wy4ih2h

Gyatso did a poor job helping those kids. It made me laugh. It is played so serious and shot in such a funny way.
@@ooiiooiiooiiI didn't think it was funny but I was getting "Anakin in the temple" vibes.
I like how brutal they were allowed to get with the bending.

I finished the season, their hearts are in the right place. I won't spoil anything, you'll laugh, you'll cringe a little and you will definitely cry.
I learned to accept the cringe moments, ignoring those moments it’s a good 7-7.5/10
@@danieldarago9780 I also believe that as the actors age they will get much better, especially aang
I personally think aang is one of the strongest actors, atm. Most of his cringe moments seem to be production/writing rather than his acting.@@JohnMurphy-m4l
let's hope the writing improves as well. Irohs actor is a veteran but his expositional leaning dialogue is hard to make sound natural
@@JohnMurphy-m4l If anything it will be like the animated series I bet. Book 1 being the weakest. But Books 2 and 3 picking up steam.
I watched it the day they released it. The whole season in a row. And what I can tell... DEFINITELY better that previous live action. I am in love with Suki
I fully understand your emotions. I grew Up with the series on Nick. Now i saw this and i think IT IS amazing. The Respekt they Put in IT .... (Sorry for the Bad english, i am German). And I as a grown Up man had so much tears in my eyes...
gosh I can't wait to see how they do Iroh and Zuko's journey. He's the character I resonate with the most, because I used to be a bad dude. But after this show, and other events in my life, I changed and realized it's ok to be a good guy who helps others without honor. This show is so important.
Honor is built by your choices and actions. A bad guy has no honor. Pursuing to be a 'good guy' is honorable in and of itself so you're on the right path.
@@Brian-zw4zu This is a kid show, coming from a kid show. I can't see how adults don't get bored watching something so full of cliche's and really unrealistic black and white type of script.

As an Avatar noob I enjoyed this episode! FYI I enjoy your reactions a lot because its rare to see someone that gets as emotional during happy/exciting scenes as sad ones. I'm the same way! 😁
Angela, your positivity is a big deal. Thanks!
Need to change your channel name to funnylilgalcries because the tear bending is off the charts with the Avatar series as a whole. Love your reactions!
Lmaoooooo so true !!!

Maybe funnylilgalscreams for episode 2? 😏
I watched the whole series and I thought it was a pretty great effort! I know you're gonna love it :)
That Gyatso... whew 🥺 They got him so right, and that actor brought so much heart.
The cute little kid way he says "I'm Aang." And smiles. Ah man, so much tearbending going on. BEYOND hyped to watch your reactions! LFG 🥲
So glad I'm not the only one that cried every time Gyatso showed up...
Your reactions are so genuine 🥹 I cry alot too I can’t help it
I binged the whole season instantly and I can’t WAIT to see you watch the rest of it
YES!!! I have been WAITING for your reaction!!!! I binged this series and my god, yes, I tearbended ALOT during this series, I think it is a different take but so good. I cannot wait to see all of your reactions to this series!
I love how you were already emotional as soon as the episode started 🥺
I DONT CARE WHAT THE CRITICS AND HATER SAID....THIS IS 10 TIME BETTER THAN THE MOVIE AND I LOVE IT. EVEN IF THEY MADE CERTAIN CHNAGES IT IS STILL AWSOME!!
There is no movie in Ba Sing Se
10 times better than one of the worst things ever isn't a high bar. This show isn't very good.
It being better than the movie doesn’t make it good. The first episode gave me a headache just like the movie. And both do not understand the source material
It's almost like if the guys who created it left the project because it wasn't at all their vision. Oh yeah nvm that is exactly what happened and the product shows.@@ooiiooiiooii

Yes! I have been waiting for your reaction! Sooo happy about „sharing“ this experience with you. ❤
Angela, you’re the first person I’ve come across who reacts to things the same way I do, I also cry in all the moments of happiness, sadness, anger, etc. Your heart is so special ❤
The second that I hear Sokka screaming in fear on the back of Appa I knew they nailed it.
Etsy made me tear bend a bit was realizing Monk Kiatso (sp) didn't know about Aangs safety. His last thoughts were fearing for his friends life. Also it looked like Monk Kiatso was holding the glider Aang took from Zuko's quarters.
I love your reactions! You literally made me tearbend😭👌 I'm looking forward to the rest of the season
I finished the the season with my wife on day one. Needless to say we were tear bending more than I care to admit. It’s not our OG avatar, but the story develops in a way I wasn’t expecting and surprisingly rooting for it!
I binge-watched season one in a single day, (no spoilers) and there were so many *perfect* call-backs to the animated series!
Someone call the guy who made the movie and tell him, "see!!!, was that so hard."
They really set the bar high this first episode
i love your reactions so much i started crying with you 😭 everyone's so negative for no reason, thank you for being relatable to fellow big big atla fans
I’m so glad you got me excited for this show! I finally got to see the first 2 episodes and enjoyed it so much and loved watching your reactions.
Thank you Angela, as always.
Thank you too
Loved your reaction.
Never forget: BRING ME ALL OF YOUR ELDERLY!
This is so much better.
I finished this and as a fan of the OG they did a really good job. Can't wait for season 2.
You're my top favorite "react" channel...THANKS for sharing your authentic self.
I like that we started with Aang in the past. It's a good way of showing that time hasn't passed for him and he's just been thrown into this mess.
This was so much darker than I thought, 4 people burned to death
yeah the vision of that poor air bender lady being burned to death in a tornado still pretty much haunts my dreams
Must’ve had the high ground
@@ooiiooiiooii it's horrifying
I do find interesting how the production telegraohs to all the animation fans that this will not tonally be the same show you remember with that cold open. Seeing all the reactions of people shocked and horrified by that first immolation is very telling of what some were expecting.
Couldn’t wait for your reaction, and you did not disappoint as usual!! ❤
Just binged the season. Without spoiler : they changed a lot, but the spirit of the show is intact and everything works for me, that's a very good adaptation. Eager to see your reactions, I need someone to cry with me. :)
LOVE THE TEAR BENDING! True emotion is hard to find in these reaction. Truly the best reactor ❤
I never tought of it
But aangs friends those little airbender kids all died that day by sozin
And this live show just reminded me of that little kids where also involved
The original is much better since you actually see Aang play with those kids. Gyatso did a laughably bad job protecting them in the live action.
@@ooiiooiiooii bad job in live action?
No airbender survive in the cartoons either
It was an ambush, yk why?
Because there was an airbender traitor
Who told there location to sozin
You’re one of my most anticipated reaction to this live action!
( I sure did)
Avatar Kyoshi is getting her own movie
I *just* finished binging the season. So good. Happy to be able to see your commentary right after that. Such a treat.
I went into this series hating it before watching it.
I just finished the entire series and I think it was wonderful.

I just can't with Gyatso ..they literally chose the perfect actor for him😭🩵
Watched your FL to this last night and am much like yourself, very happy (with some *tiny* reservations - mostly re line-delivery from kids, easily forgiven).
I am so happy with how well they have depicted bending in the live action world. Infinitely better than the M Night attempt.

What! Unthinkable! I've never skipped a commentary, never, okay maybe once, possibly more, but other than that, never!
Been waiting for you to get to this! ❤️
Love the pendant on your necklace!
Yeah, the original writers wanted an exact copy, but honestly, I'm glad the director went a slightly different direction,
@@samlung2724Not true. The creators wanted more changes.
I wouldn't assume things. I've heard a rumor that the creators wanted more drastic changes.
I've been waiting for your reation all day... Finally!!! ✌️😁
I also love that I can watch this show with my two adult sons, who grew up on this show when it originally aired on Nickelodeon and enjoy the experience together. My heart is happy!
Can't wait for the original writers animation to come out
