  • 🤍Thank you for watching🤍
I appreciate both of these microphones and if you're a beginner looking to upgrade from a Shure SM58, I would highly recommend the Sennheiser. However, as I continue to advance in my career, I have found that Telefunken offers a cleaner and more professional sound, which personally suits my needs better. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below!

Thank you for this video.... I'm a Paramore fan and recently went to a concert and noticed that Hayley has switched from the Sennheiser to the M80. I was considering dropping the $$ and switching too But I think I will stick with my Sennheiser e835 - It has done me well for the last 15ish years.

The e835 has a brighter tone for my voice which I actually really like and it’s also lasted me for many years and never fails!!!

It's funny the guy commented that the Telefunken cut through more when I found the Sennheiser cut through a good bit more. The Telefunken sounded beefier but a little tamer in the high end (not a bad thing, just different) but the clarity on the Sennheiser is beautiful, at least with the EQ settings you've set on the Bose. I really like the clear top end and tamed mid frequencies on the e-835 but I love the overall balance of the Telefunken. I feel when you do sing in your higher registers the Telefunken will handle those frequencies really well. I'd love to hear more singing with the Telefunken. The Telefunken is definitely a "darker" sounding mic, not as bright as the e-835 but very clean. Great sound on both these mics. It just depends on the voice and/or the sound you're going for (your voice happens to sound incredible on both).

everyone is missing that the E835 is a cardioid mic while the M80 is a super cardioid mic. Having both on hand in a live situation is best (this is what I do).

I own both mics. I admittedly use the M80 because psychologically I think it sounds better because it's more expensive. I honestly think your voice sounds measurabley better and clearer with the 835.

Honestly the Sennheiser sounds so warm. There is more clarity on The Telefunken but I think some of the mid warmth is lost. I´m a Sinatra singer so the Sennheiser E835 cable and E935 Radio mic have always been my go to choice. I like the look of the Telefunken (especially the gold one - as it looks like Sinatra`s gold plated AKG C535), but I´m not sure I would get the same "silkiness" that jazz singing requires. Thank you so much for the review, really useful. Your vocals are beautiful by the way :)

The e835 sounds modern and clean, the M80 sounds vintage, I think the choice between one or the other will depend on the musical genre and the color of the performer's voice, with your voice I liked the e835 much more.
    A cordial greeting!

Telefunken was smoother, it was very obvious through the interface, not as obvious through the Bose system. I would definitely use the Telefunken for Jazz over the Sennheiser.

    @romerbass2813 Год назад +3

Telefunken definitely is more direct and gives a bit more low end for a female voice. But E835 is anyways famous for being absolutely neutral sounding and be better for middle tenor / bariton voices.

I have the e935 and the M80. The e935 sounds more compressed which is great for backing vocals live; the M80 cuts through better and have better dynamics as long as the singer is positioned / angled correctly- better for lead vox

As a sound engineer, I prefer the Sennheiser microphone. With the Telefunken, the breath and pop noises bother me. The handling noise is also higher. The different frequency response can be adjusted with the EQ, but you can't get rid of the wind noise caused by breathing.

The e835 sounds noticeably better than the M80 (through your recording device). However, the M80 is a supercardioid mic, whereas the e835 is a regular cardioid. The supercardiod pattern can make a mic sound louder within a certain frequency range. Though, supercardioid mics usually have an issue with "plosives"... words beginning with the letter "p". The "P"losive sound is noticeably more on supercardiod than regular cardioid. My vote for is for the e835... sounds warmer and more in control.
However, this does not mean the M80 is a bad choice. Many musicians I work with have studio mics and "gig" mics. The e835/935/945 line of Sennheiser mics are used a lot for live shows, along with the Audix OM line. Usually, the more expensive mics (like the M80) are kept for the studio. Great singing and voice!

We’re missing the most critical component of any mic test here, which is where is sits in a mix. Solo mic tests are limited and will favor warm, flat mics. Mic tests in a mix will favor brighter mics. The Telefunken cuts.

I think otherwise...the m80 is a "stage microphone" like it's designed for when an arena is loud to pic up the singer's voice rather then the background to my understanding of it... "more expensive for the studio" begins at 500$ but then again it's ballpark it's relative to the studio

They both sound great (and you sound great!), but the M80 makes your vocal sound more like a record, like a fully mixed lead vocal track sung through a nice condenser mic in the studio.

I own the Sennheiser e935 and i bought 2 telefunkin m80's. I love my Sennheiser, it was $200. I bought the telefunkin because it comes in different colors, so if im doing more than one microphone, i could have different effect for each microphone. For example, i am doing a tribute to the O'jays "For the Love of Money ", where I have one mic for the lead vocal and one set differently for doing the chourus, i know which mic is which because my Sennheiser is black, but my Telefunkin m80's , one is cherry wood and the other is oak wood. Also, the Telefunkin m80 has flattened sides so if you set it down on a surface it won't roll. But, i don't have the Telefunkin m80's yet, so i will have to comeback to this video. When my wife finds out i bought 2 new microphones plus a new Yamaha sv-200 electric violin, she is going to be pissed. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't like my musical career as much as i do, but I support Trunp and she hates him and she goes full "TDS" on me when i tell her that i love Trump, to bad for her. He he he he he he.

the E835 is one of the very few mic's that does NOT provide more low end then a Singer needs... If you sing jazz, put some extra lows on your channel EQ, better than cutting it on your mixer for other styles because the mic gives too much. A lot of othe,r slightly more expensive, mics - even Sennheisers own E845 gives so much bass that it gets in the way of other instruments especially in live situations. More is not always better, on the contrary. There's enough low in the E835 to sound convincing for men and women, but all the useless low is left behind with this mic. No fatique with this mic, a true masterdesign!

The Sennheiser sounds a LOT better, more natural clarity, less sibilance, less plosives and better controlled proximity buildup.
Also - far more reasonably priced, plus it's an actual German brand and manufacturer with decades of tradition, not a USA new company buying an old defunct German distribution company name badge to milk on the "vintage prestige" and sell China made products at vastly jacked up prices.
    So... Sennheiser all the way.
