RaceRoom is awesome. I have no idea what it feels like to drive a race car, but the physics feel real enough to me. You are really missing out if you dismiss the sim because it's older or doesn't have mods.

the Graphics may be a bit out dated. but you'll soon forget about that when you're in a heated close race. the racing itself feels much closer than ac for me.

RaceRoom may look somewhat dated, but it's still an awesome sim. I don't play it as much as I used to unfortunately, but everytime I'm in RaceRoom, I absolutely love it. Great selection of cars and tracks, great FFB, and the physics feel realistic as well.
I do wish they'd add driver swaps for online racing though - I feel like it would be an amazing endurance sim, especially for something like NLS.

Another Pro: The single player custom championship builder... If online racing isn't your thing, or you are new to sim racing, but put off by the hardcore racers bashing you over your mistakes, the single player builder gives you the ability to develop your skills with an adaptive AI that gets better as your skills develop, and you get to choose the mix of tracks and cars (i.e. multi class events are no issue here). This is where that HUGE selection of tracks and cars really comes into play.

@@jovaniseptovich5110 that's not what I think felt the most weird. To me, the braking felt the most arcade-like of anything, but the dampers also felt very strange (and no I don't mean the in-game setup needed adjusted, I mean the actual physics of the compression and rebound, before you ask about me adjusting the dampers lol) both of those felt one-dimensional and also corrections in the weight transfer didn't feel right either, idk.. I'm definitely not gonna slam the door on it I will give it more chances and try it more, but again I think I'm just spoiled from ACC and rF2 which are both very hard to beat in realism.

@@jovaniseptovich5110 but also just to add one more thing... I felt like I was getting away with way too much in certain places at Spa, and then in other places it was way too easy to lose control, so that again kinda ties into the "one-dimensional" aspect I'm talking about but what I'm actually feeling and thinking of can't really be articulated and I wish I could put it into words. I guess I'm trying to say something along the lines that it doesn't feel consistent, and it's "on vs off" type of physics rather than it being gradual/progressive physics. Granted, I'm exaggerating to make a point here though as well. If anything, it feels better than any other sim-cade game I've tried including Forza motorsport, F1 code master games, gran Turismo, etc. But at the same time this doesn't feel like a true sim to me. It's kinda weird idk haha. But I'm drawn to it because of its peculiar nature of being an odd one in the bunch where I think it's too casual and arcade-like to be a "true sim" but at the same time, it's too realistic to be categorized as a "sim-cade" so what exactly do we call it? I guess we just call it raceroom 🤷‍♂️ sorry for the 5,000 word essay, it's 4:08 AM I better get to bed

I think I know what your getting at here. The primary sim I play is rf2, which famously has physics very much on the oversteery side. When I got into raceroom for the first time, I felt like it was almost arcade like because it was too easy to keep the car under control. However, as I played for prolonged periods of time, I found that it simulates everything that I thought it didn’t well, it was just less sensitive to inputs, in a way sort of like AC. Everybody has their own experiences, but that was mine.

I absolutely and resolutely love Raceroom. Out of all the sim racing games I find this the best and most consistant Sim Racing game out there. Yes the graphics maybe dated, but the content is as current as most sims and feels more organic in terms of its users.
I find that the other sims allow the more hardcore sim racer to peacock about with all the modding on offer. However Raceroom is simply a no BS sim, you do your "peacocking" on the track and not drawing attention to yourself with a pretty livery. Speaking of cars & liveries, Raceroom offers such a diverse and nostalgic yet origality on sim racing and it's netcode is (from what I've heard from other sim racers) the best out there.
I've never had an issue, glitch or system error on Raceroom. The only error I've ever had to endure is my own skill issue, through either misjudgement while racing or simply not being quick enough.
It's a shame that it's maybe not as popular as some other sims, but it's certainly value for money compared to thers.
Loving your content, keep up the excellent work.

The driving experience and sense of grip is really unreal compared to other sims. I personally think a lot of other sims have a way of being unrealistically unforgiving and I think RaceRoom strikes a great balance where you can really feel out the grip of the cars and drive on the limit. The AI also is quite nice for me as someone who races offline a good bit. Sadly the sim is absolutely getting left behind and they need to update the core engine before it's too late.

    • @michael1
      @michael1 10 месяцев назад

It's not free at all is it? It just has a stupid business model because they tried to jump on a "free 2 play" bandwagon, but didn't actually have any free content worth playing, and it just made the sim ridiculously overpriced compared with everything else. The guys developing it are clueless and useless too. The same bunch of idiots that did 'race pro' on 360 - an epic failure - but they showed how untrustworthy and dishonest they were at that time by failing to release the promised 'race pro' demo, not telling customers that the game was crap and not fixing it - at the time, together with 'Atari' they were banning people who mentioned the demo or talked about the game's many faults - the bottom line is they had no clue how to develop for the console but did the wrong thing about that. Compare with other titles and you'll see they've got other experienced devs to port their games over. Their dishonesty is something they've carried forwards onto this title being too happy with their ban and delete buttons. The bottom line is : there were significantly better sims that made this not worth buying or playing that had more content and you didn't have to pay for that content piecewise when race room first appeared. That's why this title failed miserably with no players for years. That is still true today. It's still the last racing game that anyone sane would throw money at. That some of you are giving them money out of pity may be commendable in your nature, but sometimes it's better to know when to let something die rather than keeping it alive in pain and misery. Although, undoubtedly these idiots will change the name of the company once again and try and dupe more people out of their money as they keep doing (like another bald headed guy who once worked with them does)

I did enjoy some simulators online but I care more for offline career mode and not a single one is good, hell even GT is getting more realistic each gen but the career also got massively worse and it's still not a pure sim, the new Forza Motorsport really hit GOLD in the gameplay, it's finally amazing kinda to a GT simcade level but the rest of the game is just pure GARBAGE from career mode to the worse AI EVER...

Essentially they are now so far behind the minimum standard expected from a sim that people are leaving.

Worse bit of advice I've ever seen online - no wonder you only have 342 subs in 3.5 years. To be fair, you simply didn't cover anything in enough depth here - which is a fair summary of this game. It tries to do a million things, and fails at many. To insult manufacturers too, the developer can't even be arsed to license the real cars that many cars are based on. So these cars are like a poor mens mods.
*No Aston Martin (old or new)
    *No Lamborghini (old or new)
*Lots of missing famous UK tracks
*Lots of missing famous US tracks
*Lots of missing missing EU tracks
*Poor support for gamepad compared to other race titles
    *No rain
    *No fog
    *No day to night cycle
*Game engine from 2013, which was based on even older technology
*Game is a DLC cash-cow for the developer (by the way I own almost ever DLC pack)
*Devs announced they'd update it, yet so far have done almost nothing worth reporting about since
*Formula cars aren't from official manufacturers
*Formula truck isn't from a real manufacturer
*Radio silence since last May after dev did interview to talk about outdated engine and the need to rewrite it
If you've built/upgraded a PC in the past 5 or 6 years, this is a waste of your investment long-term. Even locked at 60fps, it doesn't run smooth like modern engines do. The tech is that old and poorly coded. Honestly, buy something more modern, even the physics here aren't that special in 2024. Hold off until the devs bring a new graphics engine and rewrite/gut the web-code and the UI. I say this, because we've no idea when it will happen.
Without rain/night, it's a long term boring game. It doesn't matter how cheap something is, if you're going to uninstall it. I've owned the game from the start and don't even have it installed now. So, a short misleading opinion piece here. With Assetto Corsa Evo around the corner, and the possibility that GT Revivial might be worth buying if reviews are awesome - then this isn't worth it yet. It will take a rewrite and major improvement before I'll go back to RRE. With rain in iRacing, and with new modern content and tracks added at every turn there are even more reasons to go that route. They are also improving code so that it can make more use of more modern processors. They've also expanded the iRacing dev team with the subs they earn. DLC will be expanded at a much higher rate, plus they are also now going to make their own new gfx engine, and test parts of it by introducing it into the current engine first.
Plus there are several new DLC developments and racing projects to be released, that aren't fully revealed yet.

drives fantastic but looks like ass, especially the car interiors, they are just pumping out cars and tracks without updating any core features for the last few years now especially things like dynamic tracks and weather, they are being left behind

Actually there is, you can by going to the competition tab, and the ones at the top all have prizes for the top 30, and some might some at the bottom might but I’m not sure. I think it lets you play the ones at the top even without owning the content, and only a few let you do that on the bottom.
