@EvelynOfDestruction i had figured out how to get the file to actually be used as a spray now.. but it only accepts jpgs and not any of the other file types, also is stuck with a solid white backdrop i cant remove.

If you're trying to increase the file size from 299 KB to 512 KB, it's unnecessary and may actually reduce image quality. Also, for sprays, the file just needs to be under 512 KB, so 299 KB should be fine as it is.

This is super obscure source engine jank. If you've seen their spray before in a community server with sprays enabled it will linger in your temp folder and can be seen despite casual disabling downloading sprays

Maybe try make image that is 512x512 or 128x128. Check if it is not too big in size (it cannot be bigger than 512 KB) you can check it by clicking on file with right mouse click and pick properties. All the information about the file should be there. Also, file don’t need to be named „spray”. Make sure it is actually .jpg file not only a name of file.
@@taska61 Did you save the image as a .jpg or name it "spray.jpg"? The file might be corrupted. For testing try downloading some .jpg images of similar size from the internet to see if the issue is with the file you created. Also, double check if the path you created does not have any typos.

Are you sure your image has a transparent background? A transparent background isn’t the same as a plain white one-it means the background is completely removed from the image. Is your image saved as .png format? (unlike .jpg, which doesn’t support transparency). There are many ways to remove the background from an image. For example, here’s a video tutorial showing how to do it using Krita, a free program: ruclips.net/video/6YhrTF8-HiA/видео.html

I’m so glad it all worked out for you in the end! On casual servers sprays are disabled, that is why others can't see it. On community servers it should be visible to all.

Unfortunately not :( But maybe valve will give it back. They finally introduced hiding objector images in settings so maybe they will do the same for sprays so it is hidden only for given player who decided to hide it for themselves.

There is no tool to equip, you use key for sprays, not specific item. Have you ensured that sprays are not disabled in your advanced options?

Do moving VTFs with transparent backgrounds work on objectors too?
Unfortunately, no. From what I heard, people are applying the same wood texture from the objector to give the illusion of a transparent background.
