It’s so awesome as a 5sos fan (and not an expert on instruments at all) to see other professionals give Ashton his flowers ☺️ I’m so happy to see that others can see his passion through the way he plays ❤️
Thanks for calling me a professional! haha means a lot when imposter syndrome strikes. And yes, Ashton looks like he came ALIVE behind the drums! I'm sure it must feel great to be able to just smash away without expectations or judgement - his passion is so obvious!
I just can't get enough of Ash. My favorite drummer. This 65 y/o has seen 5SOS twice, and I literally could not take my eyes off of Ash. Just a special, special talent. ❤
Never heard of this guy or his band before..... but he absolutely demolished it. I'll never judge a drummer by who he plays for, ever again. Better than the original, by far.
These Drumeo videos are pretty fun. I think Ashton did very well for never hearing the song before. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Drumeo video with Mike Portnoy trying to learn Pneuma by Tool. "Mike Portnoy Learns Impossible Danny Carey Drum Part".
I watched this just the other day, it's Megadeth so of course I did, Lol. Megadeth was my #1 for 25+ years until The Warning came along. I've probably listened to this song a thousand times just in high school alone. He did really good, was different and he's no Nick Menza but very impressive for sure. And that's big shoes to try to fill. Small world he was signed to Capitol Records and so was Megadeth back then.
How often do you hear low female contralto voices in popular music? Agree, they are rare. The "dramatic contralto" voice is a very rare gift. And how often do female contraltos have a range of 3 octaves? It's hard for me to remember even one name. And a dramatic contralto of 4 octaves? At 21 years old!? Such voices are born once in 100 years. But if you add to this the richest overtones that you have heard in women, which can only be compared with a male bass, a phenomenal ability to extract two or even more notes at once (lower plus upper register, polyphonic voice!? polyharmonic), phenomenal speed of switching registers, the most complex vocal techniques, including yodel. Meet Diana Ankudinova! And I want to see your surprised eyes and open mouths when you react to her!
One of the most famous hits of the king of rock 'n' roll Elvis Presley in an unrivaled gorgeous, phenomenal performance by Diana Ankudinova ( 18 y.o.) He really did *rip* thru this! :) I reckon he was relishing something he could get his teeth into instead of the pop he does for a living.... but was also at his limits for something to play thru on just a couple of listens, hence his mentioning there being a lot of cortisol in his attempt! Nice to see Dirk popping up to show some appreciation at the end of this too. :)

Of course Ashton mentioned Chad Smith, love 5SOS & Chad Smith friendship.
Thanks for this one Jesse - such a fun ride! Every aspect of that song and Ashton's performance was intense but in the best possible way.
No, thank you!!! This one was so much fun and a great cross- road of music!!

Love Megadeth. I hear
"Die Dead Enough" in FTF's "Broken Glass".

66Samus drumeo is my favorite one. This one is good though.

Then you should listen to Safety Pin by 5sos, and remember that he was 20 when it came out (so he wasn't as experienced then as he is now)
