This inspiring. This is what years studying and playing jazz does for you. The changes in this song are really simple as is the melody, so it’s not at all difficult to reharmonize. What’s impressive is that they do all that and manage to do justice to all the hooks in the original as well as shining in what they already know. Brilliant work.
Now I want to see a metal band do this to a jazz song. There so many possibilities... it's a great concept. They truly are masters. It's amazing to see.
I had used Andrew’s 30-Day Drumeo promo 5 months ago. I had never even sat behind a kit before! By the time that 30-days was done, I was reading sheet music and playing full Metallica songs. It was so worth it! Thank you Andrew ❤
Twice then we blow. Then we take it out. Yall playing the head out? Come on y'all were jazz musicians. Absolutely loved this. No words how beautiful a rendition this was from each member, but dayum that piano was sweweett. Wish I could request my album choice next.
I'm a metal/punk guy at heart. Miles Davis A kind of blue is one of the few jazz records I like and I actually introduced it to my father who grew up in the jazz era.
I highly recommend John Colerain - A Love Supreme. Closest I've ever come to a religious experience involved reefer and that record in a dark room by myself one evening in my 20s. Edit: I should have also stated I'm a metal/punk guy at heart.
Thank You for this reaction. Their performance was instantly impressive, then improved to utterly *_GLORIOUS._* 😂 I'm glad I held off and watched the video with you. You added to my enjoyment and understanding. Worth watching twice. Thrice! Best Wishes. ☮ PS - Well done to New Zealand Black Ferns against France on Saturday. 🏉
Another thing that really struck me was, as laid back as they seemed, physically, they played with a sense of urgency. That sense of urgency is what really kept the rock sound in their rendition.
my mouth was agape throughout this entire thing. incredible. also if you have the time, the episode with philo tsoungui of the mars volta hearing rush for the first time is super entertaining. huge recommendation.
Absolutely loved it. And this isn't the first time people have taken rock tunes and jazzed them up. Maybe the most famous one is called JAZZ IS DEAD where jazz guys took Grateful Dead tunes and jazzed them up. The first version of that band had T. Lavitz from the Dixie Dregs (one of my fav bands) on keys. They should do this with 8 or 10 songs, and release it. It would very likely get a lot of Nirvana fans buying it and possibly introducing them to a new genre, a new world of music.
My favorite Jazz stuff are sax quartets and heavy bazz focus, then comes the drums for me, so I loved that intro. I guess I kinda love the darker tones, not too surprising coming from a death and black metal love, I guess.
Much more difficult eh? Must be Endless Nameless haha thatd be funny! That was super cool… very nicely done! Now, I wonder if they played Heart Shaped Box at their gig that night PS I like your new technique of taking notes throughout, rather like some of the artists on Drumeo.
I misunderstand you and write a comment based on my mistake, sorry for that. Great analysis at the end don't be like me and see the entire video before be a hater.

Ever heard of "Panzerballett"? This is a fantastic jazz-metal group.
Let get it clear, Nirvana was not a metal band. 😊😉
@67bronski I never said nirvana was a metal band. I said I want to see a metal band do this with a jazz song.
@davidw.5430 no I have never heard of them. I will have to check it out. Thank you for the info.
@@davidw.5430 "take 5" by panzerballet should qualify :)
What an incredibly talented group of musicians!
Very well schooled and experienced players
Not a slouch in the band. All of them are world class and sing so well together. Thanks for sharing this!
In the switch-up that Bass player was COOKING!!!

Fantastic!!!

that was bonkers, stunning musicianship. 😳
every musician, regardless of style, needs kind of blue in the house 😊
100% Classic jazz album

Mind. Blown. That was awesome! Loved your reaction, too. Thanks for bringing this joy to us.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm glad to hear you talking about jazz; something I've been wanting to learn about, and maybe, just maybe, learn to appreciate. thanks!
Good watching great musicians just picki it up so quickly

I might need you to keep me updated on the rugby scores LOL

“Can you dig it!!”
I know the reference, that was hilarious
My friend is a metal head who I've been slowly introducing to jazz. Just sent him the original video lol

Forget Orchestration; jazzification is the gold standard. Superb.
Lovely to watch great musicians
21:55 I now want a shirt that says: "Let's do a little Spang-A-Lang".
And like others have said, those are some _talented_ musicians.
Just really studied players

What a musicians! It's easy 4 them. Wonderfull. Epic. Perfect.
What a pleasure to listen to. 🎉
RIGHT!?
That was absolutely awesome
I wonder what their "normal" jazz gig was after this! Probably like a Vulfpeck concert: 20% faster.
he played the shite out of that bass.
Monster!!!
They're almost starting like a jazz version of "Message in a bottle", especially the piano.
My favorite Jazz stuff are sax quartets and heavy bazz focus, then comes the drums for me, so I loved that intro.

Heard this 10 times in a row
Into it!
I am intrigued by this video.
Amazing. Mind blown
Glad you enjoyed
When that box started talking I thought I heard a Chick Corea disciple…
I'd like to see Mike Patton singing vocals, "She eyes me like a pisces..."🤘🏻
Heart shaped box is a great choice 🎉
Much more difficult eh? Must be Endless Nameless haha thatd be funny!
That was super cool… very nicely done!
Now, I wonder if they played Heart Shaped Box at their gig that night
PS I like your new technique of taking notes throughout, rather like some of the artists on Drumeo.
They nailed it 😁👍👍👍👍👍👍
How well this song works in jazzbarrangement❤
Check out 'brass against'. They do some amazing covers

YUP!
