    At 10:20 I mentioned that you want to have a 550W PSU minimum if you're going to have similar specs to mine, and while in my case at stock you the peak power consumption never exceeded ~400W, having more headroom is always better. If you can, get at least a 600W PSU for a build like R5 5600 + RX 6800 & 32 GB of RAM.

    Having worked with about every 6000 series GPU I would make a couple recommendations.
    Undervolt - The 6800 from what I understand can run stable around 900 mV, you may have to test + 50 to get it perfectly stable. This will drop the power usage 30-40 watts, running a little cooler, and more then likely result in more stable clocks, all without having to crank that power slider to max(which is still an option if you want to crank up Mhz).
    GPU Ram - 6000 series cards LOVE ram speed & better timings. On all of the non 50 variants I set the ram to +100 and set Faster Timing. As long as its stable this will result in 3 - 6 FPS jump on its own. Sometimes you can only get one of these to work, in this case you will have to test if the +100 or the faster timing works better for your card.
    Mhz - In your testing the card is running very cool, I think I saw a max of 65c, and if you undervolt that is going to go down some more. You have head room to get more speed out of the card for sure. This is an area that is tricky and why I mention it last. You have to find the sweet spot, too little Mhz you leaving performance untapped, too much and you are generating extra heat and power draw for nothing. On my 6900xt 2450 gets me a 22000 time spy score, pushing it further only resulted in a loud more power hungry card and no gains, it ran stable at nearly 2700 Mhz but this was pulling 330 watts compared to my sweet spot settings which only pulls about 260, I think my score went up about 2%, not worth it.
    Ball parking I would guess 2250 min - 2350 max, 2100 ram speed with Fast Timings, 950 mV. With these settings the power slider might not even make a difference in performance but I would test it to be 100%.

    • @MartinHagi220
      @MartinHagi220 Месяц назад +1

      Or you can download morepowertools, give it as much voltage as you can cool without being too loud(1050mV in my case), change powerlimit(300Mhz, doesnt matter, card doesn't pull that much anyway) and you can run it at 1500-1600 MHz. You get 6800 XT performance. Just tested it like a week ago after repasting the card and got 2nd best result with my CPU/GPU combo in TimeSpy. Before that, i was running it exactly as you said, undervolted to 940mV in 1000-1100Mhz range. That was the only way how to run my card cool before repasting.

    • @brandonpayne1207
      @brandonpayne1207 Месяц назад

      Your pretty spot on with your OC settings for the 6800. I typically run a boost clock of 2350 with the mV set somewhere around 950. I can go to 2600Mhz but I have to run 1050mV to stay stable. I think my ram speed is set to 2128 which the actual in game speed is 2116 which is the 6800 ram sweet spot but you probably won't notice a difference with 2100.
      The 6800 can be overclocked and undervolted at the same time. It's a tweakers dream. I always wanted to play with a 6800xt and see what it could do.

    • @RegazozoGaming
      @RegazozoGaming Месяц назад

      @@brandonpayne1207 I cant 100% confirm this but from what I understand anything over 2100 on the ram speed loosens up the timings, on ram as fast as GDDR I doubt it matters but just food for thought, something to test.

      @brandonpayne1207 Месяц назад

      @@RegazozoGaming I played around with it on time spy and setting the memory frequency to 2128 gave me the best score. If I ran it any faster or slower I would get a worse score.

  • @yr6sport418
    @yr6sport418 3 месяца назад +41

    Previously, I didn't care so much about the amount of video memory because I just played 1080 until I got a crash on Hogwarts lecagy with my 3070 TI.
    Yups.. GPU can actually still get more than 60 fps with RT on, but the game always crashed after 5 minutes. Then I saw the video memory utilization is 7500 mB, or near the maximum available.
    At the first time the game is running, it only uses around 4-5 GB of video memory, then increases up to 7.5 GB before it crashes.
    Then I try with my RX6800XT 16GB, the game using video memory around 11-12GB. So for my next card, the amount of video memory becomes more important in consideration.

    • @ziokalco
      @ziokalco 3 месяца назад +3

      And many games (hogwarts included) lower things like textures automatically in an attempt to not crash.
      3070-3070ti where already known to have little VRAM, some reviewers managed to predict that despite 8gb of VRAM where enough to max pretty much everything, that would no longer be the case once consoles moved the bar. Something similar is likely to happen in 3-5 (not as bad as 3070-3070ti TBH) years to the 4070ti once PS6 releases

    What is crazy to me is that Nvidia found a way to make people pay for a feature that kills your fps and give you less vram but pay significantly more money for it meanwhile, AMD gives your faster gpus with more vram that are more future proof but people by Nvidia for features like DLSS which came out to combat the poor performance of Ray tracing. The problem is the vram will always be an issue because games will get more demand as time goes on and vram will be king. I have a Rx 6800 16gb and this card is insane. I love the card and I am future proofed and it does not do to bad with ray tracing if a game I am playing has it. I am never willing to kill my fps for shiny objects on the screen. It makes no real sense to me. I would rather native res with optimized settings for the best frame rate to fidelity I can get. I got my card for 315 and do not regret it at all. Great card.

    Just went from a 3060ti to 6800, loving the improvements! I’ve seen my games eat up way more than 8gb of ram now, Cyberpunk specifically has been running so much better I’m playing it again, and I swear I’m gonna finish it this time 😂 also have a 5600 which is definitely fine for now. Mostly wanted the extra VRAM for future titles that come out (hopefully the next battlefield is actually a good one 🤞🏼) Sold my 3060ti so I didn’t even spend too much overall. Also kinda of feels like a middle finger to Nvidia which has been outta their mind when the 40 series pricing and performance, and that’s only going to get worse next gen.

    Results should be a little higher for most viewers. My factory clock speed for XFX swift was 2304mhz vs 2150mhz or lower that the creator's card is running at. I overclocked my GPU to 2375 that way the full undervolt offset applies. At 2400 mhz to 2475 mhz it starts to ignore undervolting and at 2500 mhz and above it completely ignores the undervolt and runs at full voltage.

      I just sold off all my 5600,5600x,5700x,5800x and 5900x.
      I can tell you with both the 6 core and 8 core parts using the same 65 tdp you will struggle to boost up as well on the 5700x. So in many cases that higher clock speed helps the 5700x might perform slightly worse because it’s sharing the same power range to more cores.
      My garage pc gets my hand me downs and I just found a used $140 5700x3D and sold my 5700x for $120 a week later. Not needed for the GTX1080 and 60hz monitor but it will resell much better in this next year when a 7600 gets pushed down to the garage pc.
      $30 to upgrade isn’t bad but not likely to benefit you as it’s a standard 5000 to 5000 change and next to no performance gain. I would consider you trying to find a 5700x3D instead as that is the next tier of performance. AliExpress I think has had them for $120.

    I'm really jealous of people that never encounter any driver issue with Radeon. I've had my RX 5700 (by XFX) for 5 years. Bought it during the cryptomining boom for about $400. Let's just say that it has given me a very inconsistent experience.
    It's a fantastic 1080p card. It runs cool, quiet, and very power efficient. Plenty of pros. I would've loved to sing AMD's praises. But the one & only (and biggest) con of it is that it just loves to crash at random. Emphasize on "random." Sometimes I could play for dozens of hours with no crash whatsoever. But sometimes it could crash every 15 minutes. I played tons of Monster Hunter World/Rise. I swear to god, the crash tally of just those two games combined is in the hundred. I couldn't replicate the crashes. They just happen when they want to. I've literally tried everything. Believe me, I've had 5 years to troubleshoot. Underclock, undervolt, disabling XMP, reinstalling drivers a thousand times, disabling settings in Adrenalin, limiting fps, changing power supply, motherboard, RAM, & CPU. Nothing fix it. I was so desperate.
    I finally got fed up and replaced my GPU. I was considering getting a RX 6800. I even almost bought one (about $300-ish used). It was a decent deal, that's why I even considered it. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the seller deleted the ad cuz someone else got to it first. So I ended up getting a RTX 3080 instead weeks later ($310 used, great deal imo). Divine intervention perhaps? Had it for a while now. Zero GPU crash. So, it's safe to say that I'm not going for team red anytime soon. Not because I'm all in on team green now, but having endured all those random crashes for 5 years has made me so jaded and very cautious of Radeon. Maybe there's just something wrong with my card specifically. Who knows. I'm not rich. I can't take any chances when buying expensive stuffs like these. When I spend my money, I want it to just work. I don't want to gamble.

    • @RATechYT
      @RATechYT  3 месяца назад

      Hey i am also used MSI RX 5700 XT Gaming X model since 2020 Q2 and just like you said, whenever pc crash because of gpu i was cursing AMD, i like the performance of the card just like you said but wasting time of your things while you work and before you save and lost everything because of AMD was massive punch in the face, because this god damn issue came out of of nowhere and theres no damn fixing.... I am really glad for picked RX 6800 because its great deal for per fps/watt usage + 2 years warranty its big. By the way if the 6800 faces CPU bottlenecks in some scenarios things would be worse if you replace it with an Nvidia card cause of the driver overhead. People should never forget the Nvidia tax - and anyway the cheaper Nvidia cards seconhand are cause many people are having to replace them now.
