Sick game. Recognizing armor was going to be a struggle for the build he was forced to go into and bringing plague of rust was genuinely very insightful. It's not like Searing Doom is a slouch of a spell either.
The dragon princes quite literally only couch there lances for Caledor one of the most powerful HE mages who was able to tame dragons, it’s why in battle they always ride around with them held high until they charge, they even refuse to dip their lances for the phoenix king
@@elnin8 He is. All Dragon Prince's armor is made by priests of Vaul. Vaul is the patron god of Caledor. Their capitol is the OG Vaul's Anvil. They like smithing, fire and dragons.

Well nice to see my game cast here! Kislev might be the best MU for this challenge because their threats to Shadow Walkers can be countered by Dragonprinces. The Plague of Rust combo is an old strategy that was already used in WH2 :)
@@arn1345 all the shooting factions do because kislev is so slow and expensive and their only anti large is warbears or Grom. Yes it says ice tiger gets a bonus versus large but realistically it's a single model and used as a body guard or to goon enemy lords or harass archers.
This High Elf player is "The Phoenix King" and has been part of the tournament scene for years. Yea I suppose we have two modes and two communities. Thank's Turin for making this possible...
Vaul the smith is probably the god I'd most associate with Dragon Princes. Not only is Dragon armor of exceptional quality, but Vaul's anvil, the may temple to vaul, is located in Caledor. Well, the High Elves' snvil snyway. There are technically 3 "vaul's anvil" temples. On in athel Loren, one in Ulthuan, one in Naggaroth
Kislev is definitely a 'weaker' faction not because their units are bad but because their roster is too limited. Warbears and Sleds can do alot of the heavy lifting but they're really expensive and can be shut down pretty easily in this shooting meta and no one really wants to take greatsword tzar guard because that's just too expensive for what it accomplishes despite being the only anti infantry bonus unit. Their saving grace is that by our blood is pretty damn good and makes going wide usually a logical decision.
Desperately need that fat big FAT DLC for Kislev and Cathay. It is painful to go up against all other factions with such incomplete rosters. They are lacking so much support for their already awesome units. Cathay has cool cavalry but lacks all the support needed for them. They have awesome infantry but lacks the support to help utilize their defensive nature. They got extremely powerful ranged units but lack the support to properly defend them. Yes, their already awesome defensive units are designed to be able to protect the ranged units but you have to be able to go on the offensive while doing it because all other factions has answers to such tactics. You must be able to disrupt the opponents answers to your defensive nature. Not just that but Cathay lacks armor piercing and overall killing power from both infantry and cavalry. All the power lies on 3 units, all being ranged. Shotgunners, fire rockets & Celestial badass Dragon Crossbowmen. Either way, I know Cathay & Kislev won't get enough from their first DLC knowing it is split between 3 damn factions. Fucking why would you split it like that???!!! And also it being a damn Chaos faction which we have so far gotten 6 content drops for since launch. Horrible.
@@ReachStudioPro i kinda fell into this tar pit thinking of cathay was actually a shooting faction but if you test it out for yourself, 12/8 bonus from harmony makes cathay infantry shit on every unit that can cost like 200-300 gold more than them. Try cathay full melee builds and rely on lanterns to proc range unit harmony since they are harder to kill than bow men. Celestial halberds really do be kicking chosen ass and lore of yang is actually super good for killing chaff.
Really cool to see a build like that succeed so well, the micro of the cav and the really well executed plagues of rust was really cool to see. Super fun match.
I've always thought that buff/debuff is the most interesting way of magic. You have to use actual skill and your units to win, you cannot just slacken your jaw and push a button. Sadly, it is the weakest way to magic. Plague of Rust is actually a sign of what things should be. It is cheap to cast and lasts for 45 seconds I think. All these abilities should last much longer.
A lot of debuffs should have a longer lasting effect. I think 45 seconds for plauge or rust is fine. Assuming you have any ranged and/or heroes/lords attacking the target during that duration you are certain to either kill or bring the unit down by a lot during those seconds. Other improvements for these spells could be to decrease the cooldowns on them. I feel many of them would be far better off with shorter cooldowns.
My thoughts exactly, damage spells need to be toned down a little bit more and bigger emphasis put on debuffing/buffing like having longer duration. Buff/defbuff animations need to be more verbose too, the visual rework of fire magic is a step in the right direction.
@@semi-useful5178 Comets take skill aswell though to hit because of the big wind up. The problem is the direct damage and quick hitting, big damage vortex/ line clear spells that take little effort to set up and can take more than half hp off of elite units. Imo WH multiplayer would be better if the high damage spells were weakened so they couldn't do more that 1/4-1/3 hp damage to elite units or give spell resist to them so we can finally use things like Har Ganneth Executioners without knowing they'll be killed off long beforebthey reach the front line.
Aye! A crossover land battle champion from human boy yes-yes's stream community, what a sight. He usually goes by the phoenix king and is hell of a HE main.

Kislev having only 2 anti large units, one low tier, one high tier is always tough. Against units like silverhelm and even dragon princes you're either overspending or underspending
This felt like a much more solid attempt at the bounty than the first one. I know the first one was CLOSE but this felt like no contest with the plague of rust.
This match was a masterclass, superbly done by the HE player, against one of the top players of the competitive scene no less. I'm not a HE fan by a longshot but I do hope that those who are take heart from this glorious battle.
Interesting to see Tempest casters not using Blizzard, its a great spell since they have a hard time dealing with elite units in melee. The micro on those Shadow Walkers was next level, avoided multiple spells.

Yeah. I remember Imrik hollering about Vaul every third line in the campaign though...so maybe that counts as their sponsored God?
