I lay here early morning. My immediate answer is that you are able to focus in exactly the way needed to listen to this. No more chores, end is near (sleep) You can go all in on music at this hour.
Adam Decker actually RATM genre is RAP Metal which is way heavier and with a even hard revolutionary message than Punk, the riffs also differ from that, Punk riffs are not that structurated as RATM ones
4:13 Balderdash you! one's old bean, shan't comply upon constrictive terms in which prohibits the lack of informing thyself of engaging resistance amongst adhering and obeying said commands.
Oh fuck yes. Just finishing my last cup of whiskey at 4am in front of the computer and this totally injected me with the will power to lurch to the 7/11 for a refill and RAtM marathon.
I know cellos typically follow bass or viola parts, but I feel if the cellos had done Zack's voice it would've been a better plan. The brass sounds... Too happy, almost. I don't really know how to describe it. But this was absolutely beautiful, I can't lie. I loved it, truly. Amazing job.
It's like a nice skeleton of what a really awesome orchestral arrangement of this could be. Needs more creative stuff like the piccolo lines at 2:46. I mean, you could totally reharmonise parts of it, really take it somewhere special!
Makes me remember a kid walking out of music class in 5th grade. Told the teacher he "was sick of singing Crocodile Rock, why couldn't we try some Led Zeppelin?". That was 1978.
If I may give some constructive criticism... I think it's Not Bad, but it all seems very controlled, whereas what makes the RATM performance great is the entirely out of control intensity of it all. If you compare this with the original track, what this orchestral performance needs (apart from more cow bell) is more "RHAAAAAAAAAA!!! MOTHERFFFFF!!!!!!". If that means breaking a few strings on those violins, so be it!
kleinebre well, they are classically trained musicians and I thought it was pretty wild for an orchestra. You can't expect them to go out of their comfort zone. Most of them are too scared to even play without their notes in front of them :-P
yeah, rock made badly played, out of tune and noise part of concert performance. People who stride for perfection have a hard time trying to emulate it. I suggest alcohol and drugs, plus no rehearsal...
zab666 oh what a cliche. It's not about being scared to play without the sheet music. Classical music is much more complex than playing a bunch of power chords. A Mozart Concerto or Beethoven Symphony is infinitely more complex than most, if not all, modern music except for maybe jazz and classical musicians are expected to be perfect. Soloists do typically memorize pieces. Also Professional Classical musicians have to learn a whole lot of music in very little time. It varies program to program. They don't get to play an hour or two of music they've been playing their entire careers with three or four songs from their new album like rock/pop musicians do. Just putting things in perspective for non-classical music people out there.
yeah, I agree. It is almost impossible to play long classical pieces without notes when you are a professional musician in an orchestra who plays something new every other week. I have a background in classical music as well and my comment was meant to be funny rather than offensive.....although I have worked with classical musicians that still would make themselves sheet music even if it is only 4 bars of the same 5 notes in just the chorus parts. Habits I guess ;-)
zab666 I apologize then for getting on you like that, then. As a hobbyist classical musician one of my pet peeves is non-classical musicians disparaging classical musicians for needing to read sheet music, and I have encountered some that were actually serious about it.
Nice try, but they don't seem to understand the need for intense staccato, especially the opening piano. Too smoothly performed. Feels like the edges were sanded off! Are they all on Valium? Still, it's nice to see an orchestra having fun with killer songs like this!
I agree. It's awesome and I definitely couldn't play any of those instruments, but as a consumer I would not buy or even probably casually listen to the song because it's just not rage like. Too smooth and happy.
There's a lot of reverb on everything, isn't there? I only hear the intense edges really in the buildups to the chorus and it's probably thanks to the high brass.
Our generation will be heard!!! Very moving and transitional!!! Powerful music at its best and I think a lot of people wouldn't even give it a thought if not in this form!! Great work guys and bravo!! Blown away!! p.s. third guy from the left...the barn door is open!!!!!....j/k had to lighten up the post!! ROCK ON!!!!!
A beautiful arrangement, and proof that not all pop-music is just nonsense. At the very least the aggression translates well. The anger not so much, but this is good.
It needs to be a lot less "pretty" in a way needs to be less precise like how a rock band is. Also needs more of Bari sax to give it that nice hard rock feel
Awesome! Got a feeling of original but it's converted to classical arrangment very smoothly. It also reminds me of Kashmir, and it's a good thing IMHO. :)
there must be sceince behind why i'm always finding myself in those kind of youtube videos in the middle of the night

Sounds like a 007 track.
11vinci yeah! it's like watching a james bond movie hahaha
11vinci bourne!
indeed
Exactly what I was thinking
Agreed! Also suitable as a score for a movie based on a Dan Brown novel.
This would actually work quite nicely as a Bond theme.
It really does
@@Zeagods-CyberShadow guys....just because you hear horns in songs it doesnt really mean it has to be bond theme :D :D :D
Maybe for the movie where Bond learns M is the baddie and Bond has been fighting him all along.
I want to travel back in time to the 1700s or whatever and play these metal covers to the people
What?
Now that would be sick

Jesus what's with all the negativity, this was honestly pretty damn great. Anarchy punk rock in classical? Phenomenal

I love how the intro sounds exotic and when the verse kicks in it sounds like a hero theme.

Living the dream
fongfongy to be satisfied by this kind of thing to that level must be nice
Sounds like a Bond theme
the ''vocals'' sound too happy to me
Same
No one can mimic anger and fury of Zack's vocals. This 'cover' is kinda nice, though.
It's cool hearing it though. I had this CD. EVERYONE had this CD.
I don't think these classical instruments were made with Rap Metal in mind, strangely.
I'LL DO WHAT YA TELL ME!

getting mission impossible vibe
This is the Philharmonic with Rage Against the Machine, "Killling in the Name" in A minor. You're listening to classical on NPR
This is precisely what I wanted it to be. BEST.

I'm the piccolo player in this video, and I enjoyed 2:46 :)
@@Maya-sn3qm great job best part of the song.

Makes me remember a kid walking out of music class in 5th grade. Told the teacher he "was sick of singing Crocodile Rock, why couldn't we try some Led Zeppelin?". That was 1978.
I definitely wanted more groove considering what this song is and not played as linear as it was just played
Zack wasn't there

BRILLIANT
Sounds like something a bond villain would have as his backing music.

THIS IS SO AMAZING OMG
It would be a perfect suspense/thriller soundtrack.
Wow! This is insane!!!
These are a few of my favourite things! RATM and orchestral music. Awesome!
This is absolutley amazing!!!
You know you’ve made it when an orchestra turns you into elevator music. :-p
It is a very cool interpretation.
That would have to be the most intense elevator ride of my life lol.
But all jokes aside, very cool interpretation indeed.
Awesome. Totally supported the Kickstarter!
Amazing! Although it does sound like something off the soundtrack of Disney's Hercules, which makes it even more amazing.
Goosebumps!!
I'm always going to hear this whenever I listen to the original. This was great
❤Me,too. .great
Excellent! Really awesome job

They made it sound like a Bond theme tune with a bit of a muscial dance song.
Damn, that opening sounds so sinister
this sounds so polite compared to the original, pocket is completely different but arrangement is dope.
"Killing in the Name Of" but you're only killing that pompous baffoon's ego with a snarky quip about his mother's state of romance.
Very cool concept, but the groove needs work for it to be all it could be.
I agree with you, it needs some swing to it. It feels too concrete to me. But great arrangement nonetheless
Yeh the lack of swing, as minute as it is in the original, definitely takes out a lot of the character and groove.
Outstanding! You even got the little run in at 2:34, respect!
2:58 think "Hero's in a half shell. Turtle power!"
why do i see peter fighting the chicken in my mind when i hear this?

The fog of Rage Against The Machine is no match to the mist of what is to come!
feeling wasnt right. schism was great.
This is more parade-like. Schism was more "opera" like. Sorry bad englishes.
It needs to be a lot less "pretty" in a way needs to be less precise like how a rock band is. Also needs more of Bari sax to give it that nice hard rock feel
