The data for each player on each month is recorded using their rating closest to the end of each month. Which was all kindly provided by Walker.

Ant and that other Chinese player had a strangehold for years, and then in the later half of 2021 everything exploded. I saw you and Deejus pop up towards the end!
ANT13's domination is even crazier when you put into perspective the standard-specific elo: Standard was basically the only mode at the time so there's no other modes to boost elo, and it was not until ~2022 that his standard record was overtaken
This video just makes me sad that I missed out on so many years of Advance Wars pvp, regardless of how many times Walker has told me how difficult it was to play back then.
But I am happy being an AWBW player today, and during what is arguably it's best state.

It was almost unplayable 5 years ago when I tried Awbw for the first time.
@@mr.s.i6642 Walker told me something very similar. He told me I would've hated AWBW if I tried it earlier.
I only got into watching AWBW a few months ago. I missed out on so much. It feels much like how I didn't realize starcraft broodwar had a competitive scene until the starcraft 2 beta was out. Its awesome to see games like these thriving and having their own stories.

Walker kindly provided me with the site rating data, then I had to rearrange it to find the top players every month and input it very slowly into the graph software, then just edited all the rest afterwards.

Did something change in the MMR scoring system to cause such a surge? It looks like 1400 was as high as anyone could go for years then all of a sudden several people shoot way past 1400 and into the high 1600s.
The system was the same throughout, as far as I know, but there were surges of new players which adds points into the system
It's caused by rating inflation. The more players that came onto the scene the more points there were to be gained and so the ceiling gets raised.
