I think since the APC resupply and gives ammo, it's the top target since most units would either need to fallback to base to resupply or need to hold position until another APC arrives

@@MrJulio632right. But given its advance wars, your unit is probably gonna be dead long before it’s out of ammo or fuel
It really makes no sense for bombers to go for APC. But the lander is targetted over APCs. The reason they go for transport units is damaging given verus taken. APCs and Landers don't fight back. So it always net gain. But bombers can't be attacked by most land units. So I don't get. They should go for missiles became it is the most monetary damage they can do.
@Zythria AW1 and 2 AI logic is very fucky, but AW1 is the one known for hyperfocusing on APCs.
As far as I can tell, the AI is set to prioritize Transport units. I don't quite know the logic of this, either in code or why it was done that way, but my guess is to shoot down potential Infantry transports to try and prevent HQ cap rushes, or to deny APCs transporting Infantry to capture distant or vital targets. But however it's done is kinda stupid, so it just hauls ass to bully the APC, Loader, or T-Copter instead of that big, juicy, defenseless Battleship.

@@luisemoralesfalcon4716 DoR is my favorite for specifically that reason - that and the Missile Boat. DoR did a great job expanding things, and I really wish it'd had a sequel.

@@luisemoralesfalcon4716 They're all pretty good. AW1 and 2 really make you think when it comes to picking CO's for a battle. DoR kinda.. made you make do with whomever stepped up to the plate. Famicom Wars even has The Austrian Painter and Bill Gates as CO's.
That last bit existed only within Missile Chan's dreams.

Let's be honest, if APC-chan is resupplying naval units, Cruisers would be the last ones. I can imagine how a submerged submarine-chan would look while taking the supplies.

These always brighten up my day. Even if they're not the best financial performers, I really enjoy seeing them.
APC sometimes could be underrated because it cannot fight back, but it really helpful to keep supply up especially for flying and water unit and transport bazooka further than their own mobility. And in Days of Ruins it even could build temp airport or harbour. Best support
The amount of times poor heroic APC-chan has saved my rocket and artillery units from enemy tanks just by sitting on a bridge and taking one for the team is virtually incalculable. Someone give this girl a medal.

I love those Super Famicom Wars-like resupply and transport animations. Also really felt the AWBW transport clip xD
Just remember to keep your infantry safe inside your APC instead of dropping forward if you see a Drake, Olaf or Hawke SCOP charged up.
I really like how unrealistic some stuff the world of Advance Wars is. The APC can supply any unit. On land units it’s fine when if comes to sea units, there’s some stuff that’s crazy. The rounds used on battleship cannons are nearly the size of Christmas trees (from floor to ceiling) also they’re really heavy and it’s bizarre that many rounds fit into one APC and still have room for the driver and an infantry unit. And when it comes to air units, in reality, to refuel a plane in the air, there’s another plane that supplies the fuel. And when supplying with ammunition, it’s not recommended to do it in the air.
But other than that I really enjoyed playing Advance Wars and the impression of girls being the war machines.
Even if you say these don't do as well, I adore your designs for them and their interactions. The silliness is appreciated!
The AWBW troop transport killed me. This is so accurate for the rare few times you actually see APCs.

Using the APC to protect key units, as well as supplying them, have made me appreciate having them in the army.

To be fair on the A.I. hyper focused on Transports:
A lot of Advanced Wars can be cheesed by speeding through the map with Transports and capping the objectives. And as people pointed out, it is an attractive target (no retaliation damage, potential extra return if loaded, keeping enemy units supplied at important choke points, or just being a meatshield). Sure, killing another unit could be more cost-effective with fixed returns, an APC's value will only increase the longer it stay alive. Factoring each commander's specialty in, certain units may become more or less useful depending on the commander, but a Transport will always be universally useful no matter who is in charge. And you probably don't want to leave an APC alive just to have it run past your army and spit out a bunch of infantry on top of your base.
So while the A.I. priorities isn't the best, I do think targetting Transports is the "safest" choice without having to factor in every little details of the situation.
Meanwhile APC chan during Days of ruin be building stuff and carrying the CO

its basically making her needing to take down the bag and "deploy" it, hence the "need to wait for the next turn after moving to fire" for indirects.

To be fair targeting the resupply unit would be a good strategy since it temporarily cuts off ammo and fuel supplies until another unit arrives so it helps in the long run.
Ending scenario analysis:
Average player: Kill Missile-chan due to her doing more damage and costing more.
Smart player: Kill Artillery-chan as Missile-chan cannot hit you there and the artillery can contest your presumably larger ground force while missiles can't.
AI player: DETH 2 TEH SNACC KART =P
If I had to guess, the original ai was built to just pick the target that they do the most damage to while taking the least immediate counterattack damage from. Since apcs are quite frail and usually one of the easiest units to damage along with doing no counterattack damage, it makes sense units would prioritize it.
Ok using the RA Gal production designs (the pram) made alot of sense now! I haben't played the remake so I forgot the AW APC can resupply other units!
