Dan and I are always looking for new values in whiskey, and we've always said that there are different levels of a value. This Barrell Craft Spirits Foundation may just have hit the right spot between price and quality! This being at $60 isn't going to be "value" for everyone, but where it's priced in the market with the flavor it's bringing we think everyone should be finding this for their shelf at home.

This one is great. I tried it at a Barrell sampling. I picked up a bottle in SC for $49.99. Killer price for a great blend of 5+ year bourbons. Cheers!
Just ordered two - and got free shipping! Thanks again for another value pick!
I couldn’t find it in Kentucky. Finally scored one in Novi when visiting family. Wasn’t crazy about it at first, after a couple of weeks it improved a great deal.
Nebraska just got this last month I'm hearing. Going to find one today! And a holladay soft red wheat rickhouse proof.
I’m waiting on mine. I ordered 2 bottles from Barrell and got free shipping!
Guy's I believe the Master Blender is Tripp Stimson. He's been on a couple of the Bourbon Pursuit podcast's.
I'm a big Barrell fan and I was disappointed by the neck pour. However, I love it now. I get the dickel, as what I would call a high note, but the mids and lows balance it so well.
Bought it at Binny’s. Very interesting profile. Fricken good.
Just picked up a bottle today and stumbled on an EH Taylor for basically retail. A good bourbon day!
My local store has had this for a Month or so for 54 after tax, I’m currently on my 3rd bottle. Insane value bottle, guess I need to stock up a little bit now
Bought this as my first foray into bourbon. I like it.
Strayed away from Barrell after a few not-so-great bottles. Might have to revisit them.
Just cracked it tonight. It’s a great pour.
Just went to Total Wines in DE this morning to check out their selection and almost bought this; but passed on it... because it wasn't barrel proof and I wanted to see how people felt it was first. Wish I'd grabbed it now. Also wish we could get whiskey of the months in PA... Someday they may let us get liquor by mail... wasn't so long ago we couldn't get wine by mail.
They have some really interesting bottles. If you can get samples, I recommend giving them a try.
The Barrel Foundation mash bill is Corn 73%, Rye: 23%, Malted Barley: 4%, so I'd be surprised if it reminded me of BT MB #2, which has a wheated MB, AFAIK.
Going to look for this.
How does this differ from their Stellum line?
Where did you get that amazing hoodie??
🥃 mornin yall!!
Love Joe and Tripp, but since Nic has done more with the blending team than just Stellum single barrels, I feel like we have gotten Batch 33, 35...maybe Vantage???
I popped my bottle last night. After Dan's comment about it slapping the whiskey row series, I had to find out for myself. 1910 and 1920 are 2 of my favorite bargain, hits above their weight, bottles. I'm a bit shocked. The neck pour off this Foundation bottle beat both of those for me. If this bottle improves as it opens up, this might be a new shelf staple for me. I was considering returning this bottle, so I could get another Seagrass. I decided to try it after this review instead. Thanks. ...you are now officially forgiven for the Sagamore Double Oaked recommendation. :P
You're tripping hard if you don't like that Sagamore Double Oaked.
Where the you get the t shirt and sweatshirt?
I’m with you on younger versus older Dickel. I’ve enjoyed some of the BiB releases and the #12. I have had some of the single barrels at over 15 years, and there hasn’t been one I really liked. They all seem too oaky.
The 13yo Dickel BIB is my favorite.
How does it compare to batch 35?
$48 at my local store
I want to know how to get my hands on that Barrel King you guys put in your top 3 of 2023
Join Barrel Kings Gold Club! Hasn't been a bad month yet (I joined on my own dime and I love it). Go to barrel kings website you can join on there.
That barrel has sold out since but there is a better one coming from the sounds of it.
Did anyone else notice the bottle of Buffalo Trace that showed up, right after it was said it tasted like Buffalo Trace?
Barrell is the one distillery I rarely regret spending $80 on.
They are terrible to their employees. Find something better
@@morrisdanny481Typed from a device that was made via literal slave tier labor.
Brewzle mentioned a blantons alternative. John J bowman. What do ya'll think? I'm just interestin in good is good. Not hype overpriced. That's why i watch. You guys rock. And then the flip of that, to say, i'd pay extra for this. Was fun too. Isn't that the whole game. Bang for the buck.
JJB Single Barrel is great. Should cost $50, but distribution is hit or miss. Brewzle was correct.
Thanks! Eyes peeled@@TheUMIA
John J Bowman is originally distilled at Buffalo trace and then JJ Bowman does a secondary distillation. so yeah it's a lot like BT because it basically is BT.
Great Blantons alternatives include Bardstown Origins (rye based) bourbon, Wilderness Trail (rye based) bourbon, and BM SB. Many friends have recommended Green River, but I will not say that based on my bottle ( I hear there is some variation in the batches).
JJB is just as good if not better than Blantons imo I have both and did a blind and I like the JJB

I have yet to find a bottle of Barrell that is not entirely disappointing and I'm done spending 2x rarebreed for a product that drinks like Tennessee flavored acetone.
This is the same price as rare breed and is less nutty than rare breed lol.
Better - this or Bardstown Origin (similar prices)?
I'd have to try them back to back, but my memory says Bardstown Origin white label. This Barrell is possibly more interesting given the blend, but I think Origin nails the basics just a touch better to my palate.
Barrells blender is nic christiansen i believe. Theres been amazing cheap whiskey forever. The buffalo trace comparison worries me though.
I heard barrel just laid off their entire team with 2 week severance and no health coverage. I hope they treat their whiskey better than their former employees
Sometimes you need to let people go. 2 week severance is more than most people receive .
Sorry I didn’t know you were a cop
Guys, the ad was like 20% of the video.
yeehaw
It is over $100 locally
funny that Chris no longer drinks
The cheapest bottle of any Barrell product in Australia is $200 AUD!!!!
it gets me drunk so it works
Soooo.... It's great for the price and I'll keep a bottle around but you gave me higher expectations 🤷♂️
can you blind this travellers whisky to BT and ER I get no BT from it at all more canadian barton blend
5 year for $55 or knob 12 for $47. hmmmm
I can get KC 12 here in So Cal rather easily. My local Target carries it at $62, which is by far, the cheapest I’ve seen it. I’m not sure how your guy can sell it at $47. Probably was mismarked but you scored with that
It is not mismarked, I asked. they sell huge volumes at this store. @@jasonczfan8658
to make it even better, buy 6 and you get 5% off
@@jasonczfan8658
Or Eagle Rare 10 year for $35 (yes I'm in an ABC state)...
@@francisrizzo1529I find ER for sub $40 regularly
If it tastes like BT, that's a big NO for me!
Barrell is hit or miss for me. Often ery disappointing for the price point. I haven't had this one yet.
That's gotta be the cheapest Barrell ever.
Who eats Mac and cheese with steak? 😂
Who doesnt?
@@johndrews206all the people who eat potatoes.
@jdickinson1977 the potatoes are right next to the mac n cheese
It's a midwest thing 😂
You're telling me you've never had steakhouse Mac? Dude you're not living
No thanks.
I just acquired a bottle of this. I paid 54.99. ....If it's not good, I'm never listening to your channel again. lol Just kidding, I bought this bottle before your review. ....I should have stopped watching your channel after the Sagamore Double Oaked praise though, that was a yuck for me. lol
Not everybody’s pallets are the same my man. Maybe whiskey isn’t for u. Maybe it’s the kind, maybe u need higher proof, maybe lower, maybe flavored, I don’t know. A lot of factors
@@JohnnySteppa Really? I had no idea! What I do know is the whisky community has a bunch of people who don't know what facetious is. Who also have huge sticks up their rear ends, over any perceived slight to their favored influencers. I think Dan and Sean smart enough to see my comment for what it was, just a bit ofsarcastic ball busting. You'd think the "just kidding, and lol" would be a big enough clue to the intent of my comment. Apparently not. Generation Safe Space can always find something to go Karen over.
@@AnAbortiveRomance tbh you sound pretty hurt yourself here… though I do agree
This stuff is sub par. $55 bottle that should be $25. This is bottom shelf. Very disappointing bottle
This was def consideration for my bottle of the year... cause i got it free... Thanks @2Ten90 .. was surprised how tasty it was...but I do not get BTrace on it. Have a Great Day Everyone 🥃🥃🥃🥃
