Yes, totally agree, this song is based on a straight-forward, driving melody/beat, but is so dynamic thanks to Stevie and her amazing vocals. Have fortunately seen Fleetwood Mac once, and Stevie Nicks once. Without doing research, this song is about coming of age, and the loss of innocence. And, yes, the rhythm section is killing it here.
The song is about the death of her uncle. Stevie and her cousin were the only ones in the house when he died. Some of it is also about the death of John Lennon. As someone else stated the title is from Tom Petty's wife saying she met Tom at the age of seventeen. Because of her southern accent, Stevie thought she said the edge of seventeen.
She is glowing with her solo material and own band. Stevie can only go so far with Fleetwood Mac, she seems freer and almost bursting with joyous energy(possibly cocaine) here
I think Waddy Wadell said he really made a rod for his back with that rhythm riff! But it's so freakin iconic. Stevie Nicks is an incredible songwriter - and her intensity and passion is off the charts. Thanks for this!
Goddess. Truly love her. You're so right though, apart from her unworldly vocals, this track has so much unique stuff going on instrumentally, you feel like you're being taken somewhere you've never been before. ✌❤
Fleetwood Mac's 1977 Album "Rumours" was released the same year I graduated high school. Back then, I just sat, mouth open, and stared at Stevie Nicks, mesmerized by her voice and beauty. It's now 2025. My mouth is open again.
As a 14-15yr old boy coming of age Stevie was my 1st love. Her voice just melts me to this day and I'm now 55. Fortunate to have seen her three times. My wife and I have been together since we were 17 and we've always had a running joke that my 1 pass in life could be Stevie. That's 39yrs now and I've been true to my word and remained faithful. So if you happen to see this Stevie...call me. 😜
Steven, THIS song (and video) are from her first solo album Bella Donna and the supporting tour (which was shown on HBO back in the day) "White Wing Dove". The entire album is amazing, and this concert is one I watch several times a year. You'll notice (if you look) Stevie is wearing platform boots. She does this because she's barely 5' tall and wants to look taller. While people often joke about her voice sounding like a goat... there's another way to take that. As a singer/songwriter, she can be considered as one of the GOATs. In this era, Fleetwood Mac was having a lot of internal issues, and Stevie wanted to branch out a little bit while not officially leaving the band. This album and tour was a direct result of that. Definitely check out more of her solo stuff, and if you can find it..... watch that entire concert. It's amazing! (I'll see if I can find it for you).
Steven, I found this playlist that (IIRC) covers all of the songs from the show: ruclips.net/p/PL3iPE-7bEwOGtRDH_Qr0qFcM8NPRczQGb It's been a while since I watched the whole thing, and can't find it online right now in one video. Enjoy!
If you can check two song off the other side of the mirror album of Stevie’s. Whole lot of trouble and Juliet great drum tracks and her voice is awesome!
A friend of ours used to love her so much He named he's bike stevie after her When asked why He said because in my dreams id be riding her every day as well 😂😂😂😂 teenagers only one thing on their minds Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
I love all of the old rock classics like Boston, Journey, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, The Stones, etc...but somehow I did not even know this song existed until about 2 years ago. Like most, I fell in love with it during my first listen. Amazing song. There is something ethereal and mysterious about it that drags me in.
This all show is absolute perfection. The drums, guitars, bass, piano, percussion, vocal harmonies, everything. And on top of everything, the magnificent and iconic voice of Stevie. I bet any of those people there will remember the show until their last day. What more can a mere mortal ask for?
RARE: Stevie Nicks Bob Welch Gold Dust Woman Mick Fleetwood Christine McVie 1981 HQ Version". Stevie sounds great. Bob Welch was a singer\guitarist with Fleetwood Mac in the early 80's. Mick does some great percussion.
I’d love to hit some Don Henley and/or some Eagles but the word is that he personally copyright strikes channels. 🤷🏻♂️ Not sure how true it is or why that would even be the case!
@@setonhillstudios Yeah, I forgot about that. But you def should check it out bc it's a really beautiful song. Stevie did another great collab with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, you may have heard it. It's called, Stop Dragging My Heart Around.🔥🔥
This was a very short tour in late 1981. It lasted less than 3 weeks before she had to go back into the studio with Fleetwood Mac. I was very lucky to see one of these shows. It was the second night of the tour in Dallas at Reunion arena and it was still the best concert I've ever seen. And just like on this night the audience was showering her with every kind of flower and gift you could think of. Stevie just stood on stage with her hands in her face crying and saying thank you and thank you over and over again. There's never been an artist that connected to an audience like Stevie.
❤🙏Stevie has been my spirit animal since she first appeared on the scene, so really enjoyed this reaction! Others in the comments have already filled in the blanks for you about her writing of this song, it's meanings, and even the amusing inspiration for the title-- So may I simply suggest a few other songs she has written to check out: (1) Her performance of "Silver Springs" Live from "The Dance" Tour; (2) The live performance of "Rhiannon" from 'The Midnight Special', the ending of which Mick Fleetwood likened to an exorcism; (3) "Dreams", the Official Music Video, 4K Remastered; (4) The official videos for "Gypsy" and "Stand Back"; (5) Her latest release, "The Lighthouse", which is a banger.
This is an iconic song, you will still play and enjoy this in 40 years, just like we are now ❤ I’m gonna recommend a little ban from the North, Arcade fire with their Ready to start… they won a Grammy 🎉
All right my brother Stephen.... When ever I hear the beginning of the song on the radio, it makes me think of Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. Good song with good guitar hooks for certain ‼️💯🔥🎸🎤😎🤘🏻
The wife and I saw Fleetwood Mac several years ago when Christine McVie came back to the group. They were great, bad seats but they were great. It was easy to see how they were so successful. The music was flawless, true pros.
Saw Fleetwood mac in the early 90s there harmonies sound great so did the band . They played new material at the time that wasn't released at that time. Stevie Nick's live at the Red Rocks in about in about 1985 or 1986 in Colorado does a version of white wing Dove which is considerably better and longer even though the credits roll through the music at the end. Also worth checking out from that concert is Stevie Nick's singing stand back it's a vibe you gotta see it peace.
I got to see Fleetwood Mac in the 80s on the tango in the night tour. Then mick Fleetwood had a solo band called Mick Fleetwoods zoo, and he ended up having Stevie as a special guest for a few songs. Both times were amazing. Love Stevie
Let's Gooo ! First 😅 I saw Fleetwood Mac live in Toronto in the early 90s and she was as beautiful as ever. This is one of my favorites for sure. Please check out Tragically Hip New Orleans is sinking studio version 🙏 Great reaction and Peace out Steven 🙏 ☮️ ✌️BTW check out Stop dragging my heart around from Stevie with Tom Petty ❤️
Love Stevie nicks with or without Fleetwood Mac....you can't go wrong at all with any Stevie nicks, she's in her 70's and still touring and sounding astonishing as ever, with help from her vocal coach, their take of "leather and lace" is spot on from her take of it Don Henley, please check out Stevie's bangers " talk to me" and she can sing anything, and one of my favorites is one that nobody talks about is "after the glitter fades" a more of a country feel but amazing, and another banger with Fleetwood Mac is "silver springs" live from their 1997 the dance tour, such emotion between her and Lindsey, and my favorite one is "angel" live in St Louis 1979, her and Lindsey having the time of their lives, a total opposite from silver springs!
I saw them in 1975. Basically, when this little newest lineup of Fleetwood Mac was just getting together very good. I was a huge fan though of the Peter green me Fleetwood Mac. Love their blues rock back then. But there's no dout, then you learn to know with Christine McBee, Stevie Nicks. In Lindsay, Buckingham added the pop sound that enabled them to reach out to the publook and pay the bills. I'm a fan and any.
Back when I was a much younger person and still playing guitar, I would set up my gear on stage and right by my foot pedals I would tape Stevies picture. Been a huge fan of hers since as long as I can pretty much remember. She is also easy on the eyes.
This song was inspired by the relationship that Tom Petty had with his wife. Stevie asked his wife when they met, and she said it was at the age of 17. Stevie said that she had such a strong southern accent that it sounded like she said the edge of 17.
When it comes to raspy female voices Kim Carnes Bette Davis Eyes will always be # 1 for me. But the original studio album version of this song is a strong 2nd for me
I believe the death of John Lennon may have influenced some of the lyrics. Could be mistaken, I heard Stevie talk about how his murdered hit her. The song came out in 1980, and John was killed that December.
They just don't make 'em like Stevie any more. Come to think about it, they just don't make music like this any more. It's all just noise nowadays, with very few artists able to construct a song the way they used to be done and delivered.

Another example of the glorious 80s!! Stevie Nick's and Christine McVie were both lead vocals for Fleetwood Mac
She is a goddess. And by the way, made some good music along the way. ;-)

Have fortunately seen Fleetwood Mac once, and Stevie Nicks once. Without doing research, this song is about coming of age, and the loss of innocence. And, yes, the rhythm section is killing it here.
Every concert the audience gives her flowers at the end.
Gotcha! That’s awesome!

🌸 let's not overlook the fact that she is absolutely GORGEOUS
The ethereal beauty, Queen Stevie. Absolutely everybody was in love with her.
Its her voice!
If ya didnt notice thats Mick Fleetwood on drums .. he did that concert with her
That's Jimmy Paxson on drums,he looks a little like Mick,but isn't him.
The rhythm guitar is mesmerizing. Keeps you entranced.
Do a reaction to Stevie’s Stand Back.

Ive seen Stevie twice in the late 80s. Phenomenal!!
Love me some Stevie! Anything solo or with Fleetwood Mac is incredible. Thanks for all the reactions, much appreciated!

Haha 😂 She just might call!
My first time here, and I love your reaction! You should react to her performance of Sister of the Moon in 1979, she was amazing there!
Thanks for the recommendation and thanks for hanging out! 😁

Love Stevie nicks❤
I saw Fleetwood Mac in 1997 I think. I was crazy good, I’ll never forget it!
@@cosmictwin8514 That’s an awesome memory! So cool! 🔥
There’s definitely something special about this song. It takes me back to when the song was released and I was 17. It really resonated with me.

Music always helps me when I was in jr high and high school and some college I sang in the choir loved it😊
That’s awesome!! Keep singing! 😁
I have seen both Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks by herself. Great concerts. Stevie gives her all when she performs.

I've seen Fleetwood Mac in concert!! Always SPECTACULAR 🎵🎼🎶🥁🎸🎤🎙🎧🎹🔥🔥🔥
Just an unbelievable artist !
Stevie is the face and voice of Fleetwood Mac
Stevie and Don Henley of the Eagles singing, Leather and Lace.❤❤
