    Have to agree with you regarding the roof rack sliders although we haven't lost any yet. My biggest bug bear on my wife's 32 is still the gear shift from fifth to sixth (mainly and back down) grrrrr! I didn't realise the little replacement plastic shift part had gone up to £75 and l thought £40 was outrageous. Pound for pound, it must be the most precious thing in the world!! Gold doesn't stand a chance. That said, l still love the car 😎

      You're lucky one hasn't pinged off whilst you're washing it yet!! A few people have mentioned this 5th to 6th shift feeling lately, It's not ideal is it spending £75 is quite ridiculous on that, no idea why they just hiked the price up on them, whish I have stocked up on a few 🤣 Absolutely, besides the minor bits and bobs the cars are fantastic!

    Lolz at the roof-rack cover clips (currently missing one again as I speak) and the gear linkage (had that cable pop off when I urgently had to get somewhere at four in the morning - typical; that's always when I seem to have tyre pressure warnings etc. as well...). 160,000 miles so far and perfect except for two big fixes: a new clutch (oil seal leak from the gearbox - made driving fun like with the gear linkage) and a new steering box (too much play between the front wheels, according to the garage). Now off to check about the map update - curious if that can be done without paying Garmin these days...

    • @wallsworkshop
      @wallsworkshop  3 месяца назад

      They pop off all the time!! And yeah mine always chooses the worst moments to do funky stuff lol. 160K miles is admirable! I hope to take mine to and beyond that, for the mileage too you'd expect to have done a lot more to it than 3 things one being minor. The updates can be received via the Garmin website but not absolutely up to date I don't think. I ditched the Garmin unit after it conked out last year.

      @@wallsworkshop well too bad about the Garmin maps - I tried and failed to get any support from them back in 2014 when it first popped up suggesting updates. Certainly gave the impression they couldn't give a damn unless you had cash. Don't want to change it though, really like the sound quality and can live with 10 year old maps

    • @wallsworkshop
      @wallsworkshop  3 месяца назад +1

      @@originalmossman That's a shame! I was also concerned about the sound quality changing mine over but it's just as good. I wanted to keep the Garmin ideally to keep a totally original interior

    I have a zc32s too
    The only mods I did is a RRP short shift and a short clutch pedal
    Absolutely love it, but I am now considering switching to the zc33s (Non-hybrid version)

    • @wallsworkshop
      @wallsworkshop  Год назад +3

      I had no idea you could do a short clutch pedal, what's it like? Honestly I'd stick with the 32 over getting a 33 but it depends on what you want it for of course

    I've a SZ4, I had hoped I could tune it, how wrong was I. I've tweaked it. In hindsight a Sport and a seat swap would have suited me better. But I'm okay with it, made my peace. There's a lot of crossover with the Swift models though.
    The Satnav updates are a chore.
    Yep those clips come loose too easily.
    I lubricated the gear linkage in the car with white grease. We will see how long it lasts. My feeling is to lubricate this ever 2-3 years for average mileage. But if it sheers or breaks it'll have to be replaced. In the Sports it might get harder use🤔🤔😉😇😄

    • @wallsworkshop
      @wallsworkshop  Год назад +2

      In terms of tuning even the sports aren't great, I gained just 14hp from mine. No point tuning an NA car really I just wanted to test the theory. Greasing the linkages does help a lot, but if it's the original bushing it is gonna need to be replaced at some point, like you said see how long that grease lasts for. For what all the small annoying bits are though I still thoroughly enjoy the Swifts

    • @musoseven8218
      @musoseven8218 Год назад

      @@wallsworkshopThanks. They are good cars on the whole. By NA do you mean normally aspirated? I've tuned MK1 Sprites to 110bhp at the back wheels, reliable, fast, great handling too. But we are gouged on all fronts these days so it's all ££££s to tune a car the old fashioned way💔🤬🙄
      Did you take the centre consul out to change the linkage? I'm guessing that replacements are stronger/modified/better made? Only available as OEM parts (most of which go to back order these days)?
      Thanks again for your time and efforts 👍✌️😊

      zc32s is my first car after passing with a mk4 golf, I do have a black box fitted because I'm not paying 3k a year for Insurance lol so you know I'm not thrashing it everywhere however I do use most of the power quite often because its fun to do it, I've done big journeys when its averaging around 48/49mpg and around town and bypass journeys its around 42/43 mpg, when you're doing 70 you're doing 3k revs so its not very fuel efficient but its decent ish ahah. if the right oil has been in it, it will be fine, some knob that owned it before me used a thicker oil which caused the engine to cease the day after i got it and had to get a new engine so yeah just double check and it'll save you 2/2.5k, hope that helps somewhat

      This is pretty accurate I'd say the same. 3K on the motorway is actually quite good, slap the cruise control on and it uses fuel very sparingly imo. Compared to ZC31S that sits at at least 4K at 70mph

      @jamesgriffiths7848 Год назад +1

      if youre driving it round town a lot its going to be quite a low range on a full tank, mine now gets 385/390 because I've done a few long distances with it and it averages out to say that you'll do more pretty much , don't quote me

    • @wallsworkshop

      I agree with this, It's like a live range feed so It does change all the time depending on driving style and location. Mine never used to see past 300 either but since I've been dailying it again this has changed as you can see in the video
