Turkey Hunting 2020 continues. In South Dakota Part 1 I was able to tag out on public land in the Black Hills on Day 1 (hunt link below). After cleaning my bird I am able to get out scouting and roost a couple groups of turkeys for the next morning. That night turkey master Brice Hensley arrives and the next morning we head out after them.
After several close encounters, we finally get a shot at a beautiful Merriam and it doesn't turn out quite as planned. In the end, Brice is able to tag out and that caps off my turkey hunting for 2020....what a season it was. You gotta love hunting public ground :)

Good work on your first bird. Watched quit a few of your waterfowl videos as well. I live in the Black Hills and assume your somewhere around Denver? Would love to trade some waterfowl and turkey hunts with you. I also tagged a couple hills turkeys this year. Could share some pictures of waterfowl hunting.

Drove for hours and walked for miles this weekend with no luck. Coming from ohio the hills are hard to hunt.

It’s definitely different. I went through a bit of a learning curve when I moved out west. One thing is for sure you will only be a better hunter as a result of the experience!

@@HoltzOutdoors most definitely, got my first deer last year, hoping to get my first turkey this year. All my spots I had been scouting around pactola are over run with sxs and dirt bikes on the weekends now.

Far from it he is a legend! The fact is if you hunt turkeys long enough you will miss eventually it just happens

@@HoltzOutdoors I’ve been hunting turkeys a long time. Killed a boat load of them. And I’m just taking it from the context provided. He did a lot of stuff I wouldn’t do. The video made the shot choice look far from ideal. And while I somewhat agree that you’ll probably eventually miss one, I’ve personally NEVER missed a bird on a clear shot in range. I’ve missed 4-5 turkeys and all were stupid frustration shots I never should’ve taken. If he’s a legend, the video did a poor job of portraying that. I didn’t recognize the guy. “Legend” must have been tongue-in-cheek.

@@Killada3pt it was about 30 yards amd he had a clear shot at its head he just missed the good news is with the hill in the way of the body it was a clean miss. If you ask me it was probably the fact that I ran him up a mountain at 5k feet of elevation amd the flat landers heart was about to explode lol At least you are man enough to admit you have missed before as you know it just happens sometimes.
