I bought a PC racing wheel just for BeamNG. I love that the game is continually updated, and new and exciting things are always on the horizon for this game. I've been playing this game since alpha State, that's before it was on steam. Before BeamNG was on steam, they had their own proprietary launcher, and you had to buy the game from the website. When The devs moved BeamNG onto steam, I got an email with a product key for the steam version.
The game has had so many updates since 2013, the first update I ever saw was the Ibishu 200BX. Back then The soft body physics were almost beyond state-of-the-art. And they are even more so today, as well as many of the additions to the physics of the game, like engine parts breaking, tires going flat, brake fade, etc.
After a decade of playing this game, I am even more interested in playing it today than I was 10 years ago.

i remember in 2016 sometime, i was around 12-13 years old when i was actually thinking about making a game with a similar mechanic as the nodes and beams that beamng uses. at the time i had a magnet set. i cant remember the brand but it was basically a bunch of magnetic ball bearings and little sticks that would link up using the bearings as joints. i had thought about the idea of games using a similar mechanic to have more satisfying bending of metalic materials. these magents were one of my favorite toys along side legos of course.
im not sure if youtube will let me link it but there are still sets you can buy today that are very similar.
anyway i wanted to figure out how to make a game that used a similar idea to play around with. i didn't have a computer and my school was pretty rural and underfunded so they offered nothing in terms of computer sciences.
then i found a whybeare video. it had autoplayed from a robocraft video that i was watching because i was super interested in realistic/satisfying destruction sandboxes. of course robocrafts much different now then it was at the time.
but at first i didn't really think anything of it. he was just driving around in a d series and i didn't really get to see the actual physics. when he hit a wall with that truck i was thinking 'wow thats some really good crashing models. looks super realistic.' but the more i watched the more i realized that it wasn't just crashing models, it was a full on sim of an actual vehicle.
this was the first and so far only game that i have seen a similar concept implemented. the fact that its so popular now and the devs have fleshed it out so much is amazing. now that i have a pc beamng has been one of my top 3 favorite games for years. its the literal embodiment of something that i had wanted for so long as a kid and actually found.

i hold this game very close to my heart, it pretty much taught me how to drive.
When i bought my sim steering wheel, i already knew what i was going to do there xD. Going thru gears like a champ, without fear of destroying a real gearbox
