Really well made! It brings back memories of when I watched YBR videos from 2015 - 2020 before I owned the game. Seeing the game evolve to what it is today is amazing.
I bought Alpha access in Nov 2013 for $16AUD when it was basically a physics demo and the growth in the game has been probably the most incredible of any video game ever. The tire physics were very wonky initially and I remember the devs making all these grandiose promises that it will be really accurate and have all these features in future and many scoffed thinking it would never come because devs almost always just gave up on things like this. Not only did it come but they have added sooooo much content and it is one of the best games out there for off-roading and it just continues to get so much better each year. Something I really love about it is that it came out just after my son was born and now 10 years later it is his favourite game along with the Automation add-on and at 11 he has become very adept at building cars and can now even draw an entire engine from scratch because of what he has learnt from it. A very special thing to be able to share with him & I am so grateful to the BeamNG dev team to keep hitting it out of the park.
Very well made video tbh. The comparisons looks good. I have been playing BeamNG since the first official version 0.3.0 and have seen the game develop (very slowly) over 10 years now. The game back then in 2013 and the game now in 2023 is like two completley different games. Everything has been improved and remade. Just imagine how the game will look 5 or 10 years from now. :3

How tf do the shadows look much sharper and better in 2013 than now?. This is the exact reason why when beamng add's fsr 3 (Frame generation) they need to also add Ray tracing to make the shadows not look like poopy doopy.
hello matchbull, the reason why the 2013 shadows are sharper is because the shadow map is way smaller. you can see that at certan angles, the camera was too far for the high res shadows to appear. in 2023, beamng usually has much bigger shadow maps, offering way farther distance shadows. but yes, there was some sharper shadows back then but otherwise it looks better

@@simsimw dude you’re the best from your comment I figured out how to do it. I love this video, and I will be watching more of your videos and you should definitely get more subscribers. :)
I followed the evolution since it's predecessor Rigs of Rods, which I played a lot before BeamNG drive became a thing. I'm still a little sad because Rigs of Rods is an open source project, it has working multiplayer and it is cross-platform with a native Linux version. But BeamNG drive has come a long way from what I first perceived as a paid closed source clone of Rigs of Rods. There is so much more high quality content for example. All the maps and vehicles have way more detail than most of what was available for Rigs of Rods. And as you showed in the video, the physics and sounds especially have made huge steps. In Rigs of Rods it was very common for two vehicles to get stuck to each other in a collision, which made multiplayer demolition derbies somewhat unfun. Also the performance was unoptimized which probably was the reason why so few high quality maps and vehicles were created for it. BeamNG drive level high detail content in Rigs of Rods lagged badly, so a lot of the terrains and vehicles were kept simple on purpose. Also Rigs of Rods was really clunky with the menu and general user experience. Steering wheel button and axis mapping had to be done with a text file. BeamNG drive is way better in that regard. It's definitely worth buying and I'd say it's the best vehicle physics driving simulator. I'd love to see the physics engine part of BeamNG drive sold as a module to other game developers with driving focused games and simulators. Because a lot of games that revolve around driving fall short in regard of somewhat realistic physics, even those having "simulator" in the name
