      Ngl the one at 1:30 is kinda bad luck, kinda the fact the Audi is going too fast, and honestly the fault of the orange car for tailgating and turning without seeing if it’s actually clear

      @@Bova-FettI feel like this accident could've been avoided if Audi was more patient and if the orange car paid more attention. But the orange car looked like it could only really go the speed of a golf car so idk how much they could've done. Still tragic either way.

      Yea I got cut off once and almost ended up slamming into the side of an 18 wheeler causing my Ranger to go on 2 wheels briefly when I had to cut back to the left. And the idiot who cut me off went back into the lane he cut me off from I’m assuming it was the wrong exit because he exited on the very next feeder road.

      @@Bova-FettYeah through traffic ALWAYS have the right of way and the traffic MUST ALWAYS yield. The fact the pigeon didnt wait before crossing the other lane AND slowed down while crossing means the fault of the crash is kind of on them. Of course what happened to the two pigeon drivers was a tragedy but this accident should once again emphasize that:
      THROUGH TRAFFIC HAS THE RIGHT-OF-WAY!!!

      Notice two things: the small white car was not allowed to turn there. He also slowed down very fast. Both contributed to the accident. Truck has the most fault, but not 100%.

      @seraphielprime5092 5 месяцев назад +333

      I have to agree with user666mega here... Also, note that unfortunately, the traffic engineering here also contributed to the crash. Notice how it's a high speed area, and yet there is no dedicated lane for the turn there. I would say it's an amalgam of things that contributed to this unfortunate crash.

    • @sejbr
      @sejbr 5 месяцев назад +255

      One of my instructors years ago said that before you can actually turn, you should always both keep your wheels straight and stay straight in your line. In case of a rear end you will then most likely be pushed ahead in your lane and not pushed into oncoming traffic. Shame it's not widely known/done. Few of my friends never heard about it when learning to drive.

Offroading showed me how easy it is to overheat an engine because it's using more power to climb grades when the intake was designed to be at speed while under that duress. there is a reason why left lanes on country roads are considered the most dangerous.

    • @memelox_1705
      @memelox_1705 7 месяцев назад +29

      The Kia van was at fault, the number one rule on freeways is that you DO NOT stop on the highway, he could’ve indicated very early on and slowly move down the speed, the bus behind him did not have enough time to think. The driver probably was zoned out and did not have the turn in mind and so when he remembered he snapped on the brakes not realising the huge speeding bus behind him. Tough luck in the end

    • @brkr78
      @brkr78 7 месяцев назад +84

      @@memelox_1705 I honestly have no idea how the rules of the road in the USA work, but in every EU country the one following another car has to do so in sufficient distance so he can avoid just that, even on freeways, highways, interstates, call em what you want. Because there can be a 1000 reasons why a car suddenly stopps, from technincal to human factors, from wildlife to being stupid - in all cases its the fault of the one driving into the vehicle in front - unless they just overtake and then slam the breaks, but that's difficult to prove without dashcams and isn't that common. And being "zoned out", especially when driving a truck, is a big, big, BIG nono - Next thing you know and he's swerving into oncomming traffic.

    • @theblitz6838
      @theblitz6838 7 месяцев назад +9

      It seriously depends on the situation indeed. You can't just come to a sudden stop in the middle of the road without using any indicators.
      In that case it could be seen as a break check because there's no way for a truck to stop on such a short distance. Dashcams are an absolute must.
      From what I could see, the white van just suddenly slammed it's brakes inorder to take the exit on the left while crossing a "double white line"? Or was it a single white line? It's hard too tell...
      I don't think what he/she tried to do is allowed on that particular strip of road.

    • @abnormaalz
      @abnormaalz 7 месяцев назад +46

      It is the fault of the truck behind, but that doesn't matter when you're in that car. You can take steps to prevent this from happening yourself.
      1. Tap the brakes slightly and early in advance. Your brake lights will come on, and this is an indicator to the car behind you that you are about to brake. Don't let your foot off the brake until you are making the turn.
      2. DO NOT, absolutely NEVER, turn the steering wheel UNTIL the lane is you are crossing is CLEAR. If, for whatever reason, someone does crash into your rear, you will not be launched into the opposite lane but instead forward.

    Fantastic visualization. Having survival stats is also extremely helpful in illustrating just how dangerous driving is. These simulations should be shown to all drivers, new and old, to emphasize how patience and carte can save lives while piloting motor vehicles!

    4:06 this shows why it's so INCREDIBLY important that you DO NOT start your turn until you're clear. If the car was straight, it would have not been pushed into the blue truck, and perhaps it would not have given the impression to the truck behind it that he was already turning and he would be out of his way.

    • @CAustin582
      @CAustin582 7 месяцев назад

      They were making an illegal wrong-way turn into an exit. Notice how in the camera footage there's a no right turn sign, and two similarly shaped signs facing the other direction in the distance. You can bet if there are no right turns allowed, there are probably no left turns. Also there's only one dedicated lane connected taking a right outgoing turn, with no matching incoming on either side.

    • @abnormaalz
      @abnormaalz 7 месяцев назад

      @CAustin582 it's insane that it's even possible to make that turn then. I'm not surprised that the driver thought he could make a turn there, because it's not clear enough that it's not allowed

    • @IntEagleOvefovex
      @IntEagleOvefovex 7 месяцев назад

      There's also the double white lines. They didn't even bother with a single, they made it pretty obvious you not suppose to cross it. At least for rural areas it was pretty clear imo

    • @abnormaalz
      @abnormaalz 7 месяцев назад

      @@IntEagleOvefovex turns out it wasn't clear enough, as we see. Even in rural areas in the Netherlands, there will be a median to make sure it is physically impossible to make the turn unless you go over the actual median. This road is designed poorly

    • @IntEagleOvefovex
      @IntEagleOvefovex 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@abnormaalz oh I thought this road was in the US, here the white lines literally means you can't cross unless they are dashed. Let alone double line.
