This is a great video, that's because you have shown what happens when you rig it wrong as well as when you rig it right. Lots of videos are perfectly edited and you only see the finished product with no mistakes. People need to know if and when they go wrong. It's good to see your keeping it real. 🎣😎
I too want to say that I appreciate you not editing out the mistakes. This video is far more informative with the mistakes then had you cut them out. Even your comment about how to judge the placement and depth of the Hook was instructional. As of right now I've never tried to put a hook in a small or for that matter any size worm. I just got everything in the mail today, but have no idea what to do until with them I ran across your video. Thanks again. I'm 77 and just learning how to fish. What a shame I waited so long. I've only caught three fish in three years. In spite of that, I enjoy the hell out of fishing. " Tight lines as the expression goes. "
I'm all about that versatility! Thanks for watching Robert, now go check out my updated rigging video I just posted a few days ago. It's pretty much the same video, but the riggings are better, there's underwater action, plus more tips on how to fish the ned rig more effectively. Have a good one!
If you use a peg give the the weight some room. I normally put my bobber stop about two to three inches above my hook. The bait will cast just the same and all zman baits will float that 2-3 inches over the muck. Add a glass bead and hold on for dear life lol. Vmc drop shot hooks are the best drop shot hooks on the market hands down. Those hooks shown on the drop shot are amazing for wacky rig and neko rig. Those are my favorite two hooks for finesse overall.
Great video. I fish the Ned rig pretty much everytime I fish at some point. What I can tell you is that rigged on the TRD head they will get hung . Rigged on the weedless head , they will get hung. I've lost countless ned rigs. Thanks for showing the Texas rigged option.
Thanks Todd. I recently posted an updated version of this video with other weedless ned head options, a better Texas rig setup and better jig to pair with. Go check it out!!
Love the Ned! One comment on TRD rigging: on the non-laminate (one color) baits, following the seam is ok. On the laminates e.g. green Pumpkin/orange, or others with a lighter and darker combination, rigging with the darker side on top more likely resembles something lifelike or natural. What do you think of a Carolina rigged TRD?
Thanks for pointing that out Don, I see what you mean and how I technically rigged the Coppertreuse one upside down. I think a Carolina rigged TRD could be deadly too, good suggestion!
Even more appropriate than the Carolina rig, especially in shallow water and in weeds. Mojo is better for finesse anyway, light gear and light line and smaller baits like the TRD. Thanks for the comment Dennis!
I bought a lot of cyber-flexxx when Strike King came out with it. I found that it was very sticky once it got wet, algae clung to it. I'm much happier with the new elaztech formula. Nevertheless, the Ned rig craze has prompted me to pull out those old cyber-flexxx baits.
I imagine the cyber-flexx would be best closest winter when the algae and grass are down. But I've heard many people say they get more bites when their elaztech is more beat up, ripped up, starting to get sticky like you're taking about, etc.
@@hooksetsarefree Elaztech certainly seems more firm than cyber-flexxx. I will do a side-by-side comparison the next time I hit the water and I'll let you know the results. I will let the bass decide. 🎣
Nice video! YESTERDAY I decided to switch from "plastisol" to Elaztech exclusively. Gave hundreds of my old plastics to my fishing buddy. Your weedless options are fantastic. Love the TRD but do get hung in grass, so I'll be using those! Thanks! Roger, The Smiling BassHole
Awesome, thanks Roger! Check out discounttackle.com to save 20% on all your elaztech baits! They're an awesome company and I mention them a lot in my newer videos. I highly recommend you shop there so you can use those savings on jigheads, storage solutions, and other gear! Thanks again for watching!
I never knew you could put a zman worms on the football jigs I've been using a ned rig I did catch a pickerel with it but I'll try it on a football jig
1 way i miss much... make a rubber in the mid take a hook with a small angel and hook it with the rubber and maybe slithliy in his body. Then you have in the down phase a realistic up end down of both ends
Hey Will, I recommend a 1/10 oz Z-Man Finesse ShroomZ jig for most applications. If using other brands, 1/8 oz will work, but going lighter to 1/16 is best for shallower water and will snag the bottom much less frequently!
How much action do you get with such a big EWG hook that sits so far back in the body of the TRD? Wouldn't a smaller 1 or 1/0 EWG hook provide more action. Also, with elaztech being so soft my guess is you still would get great hooksets with the TRD body squeezing during the hookset.
Yes you're absolutely right. That's why I made a follow up video that improves on these rigs. That one shows it on an owner twist lock 1/0. Go give that one a watch!
Hey Dennis, the end with the bands (which should be slightly fatter) is where the mushroom head should be rigged. The knubs are on the tail end of the bait, where the shape altogether slightly tapers off. Hope that makes sense.
Tyler. Can we communicate privately? I have an idea you may want to develop. It will eliminate nail weights and superglue. It came to me while I was watching your difficulty with the nail weight in this video. And I am guessing superglue would be a messy, sticky, and timely undertaking. Tony.
Sure thing Tony, thanks for the comment. Send me an email to hooksetsarefree18@gmail.com or send me a direct message on instagram (my page is @hooksets.arefree)

4:25 "Now we've rigged it too far, unbelievable" fourth time is the charm 🤣
Those things have some crazy elasticity!

Ink....I clip a small split shot on a light O ring, and add a hook or a Yum Ned Dinger or a TRD. Stands straight up on any bottom rocks.
Just subbed and thanks for the vid, from England, UK 🇬🇧.

cant wait to try these. great vid. subscribed.
Yup you can use the TRD as the bottom on drop shot. Instead of the cylinder weight. Use the Ned and use a minnow as the drop shot bait. 2 for one.

Cool video man 👍🏼 now you got me wanting to make some videos like this too!
Man... Subbed! Kick ass content! That finesse jig with trd.. 👍🔥
Thanks Bryan, tight lines!

No mention of super glue on Ned heads? I always put just a drop there. Good video, keep up the great work!
Zman baits have a negative reaction to superglue. they also have a bad reaction to regular plastisol baits.
I use super glue too. Holds the bait on the hook and haven’t had any issues.
@@buckeye830 when I used super glue on them it melted
Chasing The Fish I’ve been lucky then. Haven’t had that problem. Maybe it’s the brand of glue?
@@buckeye830 it could be I guess. I use loctite gel. It could also be something about the water too I dont know. It turns into this sticky mess
Great video the Ned rig is a great bait God Bless
Good video.... Love the Ned rig.
I will try to use these other ways here in Missouri.
New Sub !!
Awesome, thanks for watching Sarge!
I like that you didn’t edit out the mistakes while rigging the TRD. Cool video brother. Thank you
Very nice! I love Zman. Just joined your channel 👊
Edit: 12K views!!!! Congratulations 👍
Woo! Thanks for watching and thanks for subscribing. More Z-Man content coming soon!

make a rubber in the mid take a hook with a small angel and hook it with the rubber and maybe slithliy in his body. Then you have in the down phase a realistic up end down of both ends
Nice video thanks for sharing some knowledge ✌️💪I think that the dark color goes up and the coppertreuse normally the fish is lighter at the bottom
You're absolutely right Marcos, I knew this shortly after making the video but thought I would leave it in anyway. Thanks for the comment!
@@hooksetsarefree but sometimes dose little stuff make a big difference ho know maybe it works better like that 🤷😂✌️🙏
I sure like the dropshot rig and will be trying it .
Right on Jack, let me know how it works for you!
Have you ever rigged the yamamoto
5.8" skinny worm? How do you rig them
Great video 👍
Like that on a jig. I will be trying that.
Thanks for sharing I just picked up two packs of zman worms same size.
No problem. Make sure to fish it with light jig heads and on light line, and good luck man!
It's still worth the Hassel to rig cuz they streight up catch good fish 💪
What size jig would you recommend for a 2.75 inch?
Hey Will, I recommend a 1/10 oz Z-Man Finesse ShroomZ jig for most applications. If using other brands, 1/8 oz will work, but going lighter to 1/16 is best for shallower water and will snag the bottom much less frequently!
I feel like the Trd tubez would make awesome dropshot baits
It does, but a short leader with Z-Man plastics does better for me and making the presentation look more natural. They are just so dang bouyant!
I've been fishing zman trd for 2 years never had trouble rigging
That's great Gavin. I hope you still got something out of this video. Thanks for watching!

This is me trying to put the TRD on..
So do you put the seem at the top when putting on the hook. You never specified other than find the seam
I had to re do my need rig about 6 times this weekend trying to get it straight,.. lol
Haha, that's why I left the part in this video showing me messing up the rigging of the coppertreuse one. Elaztech can be difficult sometimes!
@Far East Angler Thanks for subscribing and for the kind comment!
nice man..good tips
Thanks Michael!
Thanks man, I’ve got toodropshot this joker
Yeah man, ALL the Z-Man TRD baits are killer on a dropshot!
Scooby do rig and Pocket Change rigs just to add two more.
Fredrick Rourk good thinking. I like Tackle Advisors. The fall on the pocket change rig would be deadly with the Finesse TRD!
Your welcome for 200 I think you will grow
Thanks man!
I found that the Nichols Toadstool weedless ned head works better. Stronger hook plus a fiber weedguard.
Thanks for the recommendation! That hook does look great, I think I'll probably pick some up next time I make an order on TW.
Great summary
Thank you! Did you check out my follow up video that was much better and included short underwater clips??
@@hooksetsarefree Nope! But I will now!
I bought the Finesse TRD, has bands on one end and knubs on the other. Which end goes up against the mushroom head?
Hey Dennis, the end with the bands (which should be slightly fatter) is where the mushroom head should be rigged. The knubs are on the tail end of the bait, where the shape altogether slightly tapers off. Hope that makes sense.

BLINK!!
Thanks, your mistake looks like my best effort’s.
Haha no worries. It definitely takes some effort to rig them right. Thanks for commenting!
The Texas rig hook is way to big. Your loosing a lot of action that
I totally agree. That's partly why I made an updated version to this video. I use a 1/0 there and it looks much better. go check it out!
shaky head
Good thinking! I much prefer the Big TRD on a small shakey head though...
These stupid baits keep sliding back down!
Pull up on the bait to lock it on the keeper. It's elazteck. You won't hurt it by pinching it and pulling it up to set it on the keeper.
