Great video, JetStar is such an awesome airline, The reason the safety demonstration was in Japanese was because it was a domestic Japanese Flight, if it were international they would have done English and Japanese .
I almost did a double-take when I saw the title! It turns out my route in 2005 was slightly different. I was in Japan for a military exercise at Camp Higashi-Chitose, and we flew on an Air Do (subsidiary of ANA) 767 from Chitose to Haneda, then had to take a bus crosstown to Narita, where we made a mad dash to get checked in, through security, and on our flight home on a United 777 to Seattle.
Nice video! Weird boarding passes though, they look more like a receipt than a boarding pass. They should either print the proper card ones or just get you to check in on your mobile device. Those boarding passes look so weird to me.
Einen Inlandsflug in Japan zu portraitieren finde ich äußerst interessant, dafür alleine schon ein LIKE! Dazu finde ich aber auch die Aufnahmen rundherum sehr aufschlussreich... Kurz: Daumen hoch ;-)
It is very common to get a "receipt like" boarding pass in Asian airlines low cost carriers. It is definitely way cheaper than the nice and thick boarding pass in common. I don't know about the BP in low cost carrier in Europe
I know that Norwegian uses a sort of paper like boarding pass, not the receipt like, but similar to the thich ones, just paper instead. With Ryanair and Easyjet you have to print at home, otherwise they will charge you
I know...I'd still prefer the regular boarding passes... :/ And I have recieved printed boarding passes on real boarding pass paper on Ryanair and Easyjet (not always, but sometimes yes)... :D
Great job as always! Does seat 4A on this plane have more legroom? I like the idea of getting rid of the seat back pocket, and just storing everything above the tray table. I was surprised by the curry; I thought that curry was only an Indian dish.
1000 yen for a meal sounds really good. You should also try Jetstar's business class if you get the chance. Although their seats are more like premium economy, they have an excellent business class meal service. You even get an amenity kit :-D
Thank you very much! :D Very glad to hear that, here's a list of airlines we are going to travel with can be found here: www.simply-aviation.com/airlines/
ive been a subscriber for about a month now i think and i really enjoy your content. it stands out from all other trip reports and ive seen so many videos of this kind that allow me to judge your videos as the best! keep up the great work!
Could you fly with Jetstar Australia maybe? Or just any Australian Airline in general? Your Reviews are always so entertaining whilst being informative. Great video
I just subscribed, looking forward to bingeing on about what looks to be 5000 vids. Well done, I already like your style. Jetstar on a Japanese domestic route? Wow, the Japanese must have a very liberal domestic airline policy, you never see a foreign carrier doing a purely domestic flight in Australia. Am I to assume you are Australian too?
Thank you so much! :D We have no flights booked from there yet...maybe soon though! :D A list of airlines we are going to travel with can be found here: www.simply-aviation.com/airlines/
The problem is that you can't compare all airlines...like this was a low-fare airline, you can't really compare that with a full fare long-haul flight for example... :/

The chicken Katsura curry said that they were available on international flights only. Sapporo to Narita is still domestic but goes to a different island. So I guess going to a different island for jet star is a international flight? Or S it because he pre ordered it?
Really? I didn't know it's only available on international flights... During the booking process a hot meal was offered for a small addition price and as always I went for it! :D
Oh those cheap receipt boarding passes, I hate it. I feel if they are going to supply them, then make them card, if not, remove them completely and make everyone check in with phones only. Personally I feel there needs to be a better way than both. I'm really surprised Jetstar are even allowed to have a division in Japan at all. Your pre order meal looked good, though that Carrot star did not look appealing lol. Wonderful trip report as always.
Thank you so much! :D Yeah...the weird thing was, that I went to the counter not to the machines just to get a boarding pass on real paper, but in this case the real boarding passes were printed at the machines and the other ones at the counter. So my way of getting a high quality boarding pass backfired on me this time, haha... And it was IMPOSSIBLE to print it again at the machine, haha! The pre-ordered meal was excellent! :)
Hello, I am flying to japan with my friend in the summer, was just wondering how convenient flying is rather than taking the train? Ive got 1 month and 1 week to visit the country and I want to travel up and down the country but we're each probably carrying one check in bag and one carry on bag. Do you know of the extra costs? Thanks!
It depends on the airline it you have to pay extra for check in bags. Trains are also very convenient in Japan. As we're an Aviation Blog we'd rather recommend you to take the plane ;)
We have no flights booked with this airline yet...maybe soon though! :D A list of airlines we are going to travel with can be found here: www.simply-aviation.com/airlines/
Great video, JetStar is such an awesome airline, The reason the safety demonstration was in Japanese was because it was a domestic Japanese Flight, if it were international they would have done English and Japanese .
Okay, wired because the safety demonstration is done on many european airlines on domestic flights also in english. ;)
Thank you for the comment back, really appreciated :) And that is one less to worry about when I travel to Europe haha

I love this video! I have posted Jetstar’s Tokyo/Narita→Sapporo/Chitose on my channel, too! On that flight, I also had chicken cutlet curry!
I actually liked the receipt style boarding passes. They were all over the place in South Korea as well.
I hate those "boarding passes" they are just not real ones. I prefere the classic ones. ;)
Nice video! Weird boarding passes though, they look more like a receipt than a boarding pass. They should either print the proper card ones or just get you to check in on your mobile device. Those boarding passes look so weird to me.
Qasim Amin it could be confused with other receipts if put into your wallet too!! Not good in my opinion.

I also love the engine view. ;)

I'd say that JetStars seats and the cabin overall was more modern than Ryanair's product, even it's new SkyInterior cabins...

How about you add a rating on the airline at the end of the video? (On your opinion)
The problem is that you can't compare all airlines...like this was a low-fare airline, you can't really compare that with a full fare long-haul flight for example... :/

For magazine in domestic flight in Japan, you can ask flight attendants for English version.
Oh those cheap receipt boarding passes, I hate it. I feel if they are going to supply them, then make them card, if not, remove them completely and make everyone check in with phones only. Personally I feel there needs to be a better way than both.

That is amusing about the boarding passes.
Most low cost carrier like AirAsia, Tiger Airways, Cebu Pacific printed boarding pass like this.
6:18 I usually find those particular pictures in different kind of hmm setting
I always see Jetstar in Perth airport
Most budget airlines in Asia have your boarding passes printed in a tape receipt type of paper.... To save costs...
