This is seriously like learning a new language for me. It's hard to visualize and put together in writing. Thank you for breaking it down so well! I took my CDL Class B today in NY. I did fine with all 3 except the air brakes. This has me so stumped. But I won't give up! Thank you for teaching us! 🙂
I am currently enrolled in a CDL training school in CT. Im in my 3rd week and I go for my learners permit in just under 2 weeks. While I am learning from my classes and my instructors are good , your videos are are a great addition to the process, and they are really helping me to learn this vital information . Thanks so much for sharing your teaching methodology,!
Shalom! Jonathan you are a genius Master Teacher. The Most High has given you the wonderful gift of teaching. Thank you and blessings to you and yours!
I just passed my permit test with ease. Now starting my training and oh man there’s a lot of info we need to know before we can get behind the wheel. Your vids been helping me trying to get advance with the knowledge I’m gaining. I know the vids are more then a year old but oh man they help alot. I watched alot of different vids already and so far your vids have pass along so much info for myself. Really appreciated you and other instructors knowledge in RUclips for us to learn from.
Greeting from Canada! Just watched this. Dude, you have a way of explaining this stuff both part one and two that make it very easy to understand and retain the knowledge. I like the fact that when I fully understand the system and understand the feedback loops when crap hits the fan I will know what to do. This is a much better way of learning than rote memorization. Well done!
Again.. great instruction (visual with theory).. good work! You realize you could actually register students for this class virtually. Great revenue source online. Critical test to even move the vehicle! Should be done before every trip for each new driver.
@@kingsleysarfo. its multiple choice answers. Download the CDLPrep app. Study the 3 sections on the permit, after 2 weeks you should be ready. Good luck
Thank you for these. Im studying for my cdl A and these are helping me tremendously. I've learned the study guides, but this is helping me actually apply it.
Hello. Thank you so.. much for you videos, I truly appreciate it. You have excellent teaching skills plus, you are far better than that cdl book. I will let you know when I pass the test Insha'Allah! Jazak'Allah khair.
Greetings from Ventura California Thank you for your videos they are very helpful am currently in school for my CDL. And always turn to you to understand
The reaction from the students when you explain that less than 5% of drivers do brake checks is priceless.. and in 6 months, they too will not be doing brake checks
Here - in eastern-south Alaska - all school bus drivers do DAILY the air braking test. Due to weather conditions they cann’t afford to take not testing risks. I am working on my CLP, too. Your explanations are usefull to me, but if you would talk a little bit rarely and louder it would be even better. Those students barely it could be heared.
Thanks for the input! This video is a bit of an older one - we do our best to make improvements every day! Glad to hear you're working on your CLP - we've had students come down from Alaska to take our training!
Just one thing I don't understand, if you can't apply the service brakes after the spring brakes are applied on the trailer. What releases the spring brakes. Or is the trailer just stuck?
This is really great man. I appreciate the class. I’m going to training with CR England starting may 4th. I heard the brake test was the hardest to pass. You really broke it down for me. Thank you
@ around 6:00 do you press the service brake while the emergency and park brake are applied? I thought that could damage the brakes? Shouldn't you chock your tires and press in the emergency and park brake before you pump the service brakes to lower to 60 psi for warning lights and or buzzer? Then pump the service brake for the 20-45 psi emergency brake to pop out?
I thought the gauge only reads the stored air so if Theres a leak in the 2 system brakes how are we gonna wait a minute to notice if it drops 3 or 4 PSI in the system??? Is there another gauge for the emergency / parking brake ???
I’m fairly new to this; but I have a question that wasn’t covered. For example, is it common for the compressor on a Class B truck to fill one tank and then the other?
At the pop up test, trailer brake didn’t pop out (between 20-40 PSI). I said: this is not a good test, i want to redo it. So I filled up the air to up to 60 PSI and redo only the pop out test. I got failed for this. What is the proper way to redo any test if you don’t get the desired result?
Lmao you don’t check the air brakes because you had an argument with your wife. You’re in the middle of the road and the psi hit 40 to 60 and guess what? You’re going to make a lot of friends lmao
This video helps me a lot to understand about air brakes and all
Thank you for the video
I got my permit today
Congratulations, Lachhi! Good luck in your CDL process! Thank you for watching!
Amazing material I wish these guys offered an online course

That is a great explanation of how and why we need to do daily air brake tests during pre-trip inspections, Jonathan. Thanks.
