      Hey Kakarot197 sorry youtube deleted my previous comment i stepped on a red flag I think.
      I ve found your missing ship. Her name is The Forrestal. She is the sister ship of the Gray Phantom. She was shutdown on earth side by Rogue Slave Wraith team's Ground type mobile suits.
      She was commanded by a corrupt Federation officer named Grave and he used Slave Wraith team as his personal assassin. Due to his many blunders and losing the ship, it was covered up and Federation went hush hush but Zeon remnants knew its exact location.
      This takes place in "Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story: Missing Link Manga" Due to its rarity and hefty price plus lacking English translation i couldn't double confirm it.
      static.wikia.nocookie.net/gundam/images/a/aa/Forrestal_missing_link.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20150702145213
      This is a picture of Forrestal you can compare all the little details with anime picture. They are a 100% match.
      From the location of antennas, shape, colors, weapons, and curves they fit. It is so accurate you can see 4 missile launchers which 2 on each side of the hull of the right mobile suit launch hanger and they are not present on the left mobile suit launch hanger.
      This is the exact quote from Pegasus class information page translated.
      "Forrestal - A Gray Phantom-type ship used by Federation official Grave. Participated in the attack on Solomon and A Baoa Qu. Destroyed by the rogue Slave Wraith team. Appears in the Missing Link manga."
      Edit: This is my own theory; The place where ship's name was written, there were big branched trees covering it. Since ship's name was Forrestal which sounds like forest and In Irish it means paddock. This could be a hint or a cleverly hidden message.

    My question proposal:
    What was with the Federation’s obsession with the Zeta Gundam? They tried so many times to mass produce the thing (Zeta Plus, ReZel, etc), but by F91 we see that all those attempts have failed. Why do you think they were so obsessed with the Zeta and why did they fail to properly mass produce it?

    • @yichenqiao8772
      @yichenqiao8772 2 года назад +21

      most MS pre 0105(before Xi Gundam/Penelope) can not fly atmosphere freely like a plane unless the MS can transform into One(precisely it called Waverider mode), so there is a high demand to replace FFs into TMSs, such as Zeta. Zeta itself was hard to build due to the complex transform structure, so it will not change even mass produced

    • @ITeleportedBread782
      @ITeleportedBread782 2 года назад +16

      I think it’s because of how using a transformable MS can do the job of a Dodai/Base Jabber while being able to participate in combat like a MS.
      I wouldn’t say that the mass production of the Zeta failed, it’s probably because they’re expensive to produce due to the movable frame technology. It would explain why they’re not very common and only special units/bases like Londo Bell and the Cheyenne Base have them.

    • @TheShardsFamily
      @TheShardsFamily 2 года назад +16

      you can't mass produce plot armor

    • @yoshuasidharta4685
      @yoshuasidharta4685 2 года назад +8

      I think it's because they can fill role as fast response unit, interceptor, air support/raid unit, and others role depending situation. But zeta type frame too complex and costly for mass production so they only produce limited numbers. EF solve this by using methuss and ZII type frame that more simple and less costly to produce and maintain

    • @blackcomet2nd950
      @blackcomet2nd950 2 года назад +3

      Now I don't know why it didn't make an appearance in F91 besides the obvious reason being that it wasn't an idea yet but I do recall reading somewhere (Maybe gundam wiki fandom) That the federation did succeed in mass-producing the zeta gundam in the form of the ReZel. Now I don't know if it appears in Hathaway's flash I haven't seen the movie but if it doesn't then the likely explanation is probably that while it was a great mobile suit and was declared a success in mass-producing the zeta gundam it probably eventually got to expensive for the federation to afford.

  • @SwiftGundam
    @SwiftGundam 2 года назад +46

    That makes sense. Honestly, after your last video, I found out about the Blanc Rival and how it was still active in 0090. So the theory might have been had grounds to stand at the time, but then 0083 happened. Along with a bunch of other side material. If they decided to just push the Pegasus-class aside due to difficulty in repairing and keeping them maintained, well, that does make sense as in the Post-War time between 0079 and 0087, they are very strict with their budget.
    Although, you'd think they would work on improving the overall design of the Pegasus-class to make it more budget safe. But given the rise of corruption in the Federation, cheaper alternative were more enticing.

    • @Inufan337
      @Inufan337 2 года назад +1

      Given said corruption, there is a potential justification for that theory in-universe where you just chalk it up to Zabi-style power plays; stating the Pegasus-class being discontinued/scrapped while holding onto some behind closed doors in an attempt to upgrade for later use. Still has little if any ground to stand on out of universe, but at least could be a feasible reasoning within.

    • @FrakkinGaiusBaltar
      @FrakkinGaiusBaltar 2 года назад +1

      It might also be that the Pegasus-class simply wasn't as good in 0087 as the newer Alexandria and Irish-classes, and thus they were, quote-unquote, relegated to EFF forces only, while the Titans used newer ships.
      Plus, as stated, they might also have been hell to maintain since we generally see very little standardisation in the Pegasus class itself.

  • @thearisen7301
    @thearisen7301 2 года назад +12

    The Pegasus class being expensive makes a lot of sense considering there is so many differences between them.
    Another thing that could be is the Alexandria class are significantly superior ships. Better defenses, better mobile suit handling (MS repair & speed of recovery/launching of MS) & better weaponry.
    That leads me into what I think would be a good explanation. Simply put, the Titans had to choose between keeping the older, expensive & war worn Pegasus class or getting Alexandrias. They chose to get as many Alexandrias as possible. The Pegasus class was then put into mothball which is why there were some still around in 0090. The Titans probably lost most or all of the Alexandrias which brings those Pegasus out of mothball.
    That would also explain the Pegasus Kai as a modernization that happened as part of bringing old Pegasus out of mothball. Look at the history of the US's Iowa class BBs for a real life comparison.

    another thing about the Pegasus class, at least the White Base variant (which has White Base Jr and the Pegasus) is that they could only carry 6 mobile suits and maybe 2 fighters. The Alexandria class is able to carry 12 mobile suits and it is better armed that any Pegasus class ship (talking about different versions like the Blanc Rival, Thoroughbred, Albion and Grey Phantom/Stallion). The only Pegasus class ship that can carry more mobile suits and is very well armed is the Spartan from Thunderbolt but that is in its own universe now.

    The part about the AEUG using Pegasus classes symbols to rally behind as being a reason the Titans decommissioned them reminds me of Star Wars. When the Republic became the Empire, they quickly phased out the Venator class Star Destroyer for the newer Victory class and then later the infamous Imperial class. Part of that was the Empire was wanting to shift away from assault carrier based warfare to straight ship to ship fighting but another big part of it was symbolic. The Venator had been a huge icon of the now former Republic and to a lesser but significant extent, the Jedi, which were both something the Empire wished to erase any memory of.

      Just to put it to scale, these are all major events within those 25 years that have been animated: Zeon Militarization, Sydney Colony Drop, OYW, Solomon Nuke, North America Colony Drop, Gryps War, First Neo Zeon War with Fed Capital of Dakar occupation & Dublin Colony Drop, Second Neo Zeon War & the Char Asteroids, Third Neo Zeon War and those attacks, then the reveal of Laplaces Box. I totally agree with your assessment that the ship couldn't make an uncontrolled reentry. However there's also nothing saying that it didn't make a controlled reentry and get abandoned on the mountain afterwards. So I'll put forward a theory as to how it happened.
    Based on nuclear tests radiation was a big issue with non-acmospheric tests showing this being the biggest threat opposed to nukes detonated in atmosphere. So some crew either survived long enough to get the ship through the atmosphere and had to abandon the ship to get away from the radiation. Or a replacement crew was put on board and once again once through the atmosphere had to abandon ship. The powers that be then decide that a radioactive ship that will kill anyone aboard it not to be a threat and just leave it on the mountain.
    They then care little for the people living around the ship. Much the way with landmines and other leftover munitions

    The crashed ship is most likely a Grey Phantom, and my theory is: that area might be the territory of Zeon's guerrilla hideout, they maybe got informed that one federation ship will go through this area, so they were standby and prepare for an heavy ambush, the ship moving across that mountain low and slow, so it got ambushed and the engine were almost total lost, the ship got stalled and free fall, it ended up crashed on the mountain. Look at the scene, the crashed ship doesn't look like it crash while moving fast, it's more like falling crash from losing speed. But I think the ship may already got damaged from their last battle and they're just unlucky for getting ambushed while looking for repairs.

      And I would hate to reply to you that we are in the G Gundam universe. Where there is science and there is the more insane martial arts magic. And with Master Asia being a both the previous champion and a martial arts masters (capable of catching mobile suit size bullets with his bare hands) he willingly did not allow the DG cells to infect his body.
      And I always thought that When Domon got his new god/burning gundam and fought Master Asia in the masters gundam and made the master gundam explode and the god/burning Gundam flew all the way from that battle site to Hong Kong and by the next episode Master Asia was already at Hong Kong with seemingly no damage or concern with Domon being at Hong Kong that lead me to believe that the Master Asia that Domon fought was a clone or visual copy of Master Asia created and possibly trained or spared with the real Master Asia. That or more martial arts Magic.

      @@GojiraFan-in9oo My headcannon is that Devil Gundam became quasi sentient after it absorbed Kyoji and mostly just infected everyone with DG cells to humor both itself and the unwary "hosts" because they only saw the Gundam and it's DG Cells as a way to get power. The folly with this was that the Devil Gundam could never be controlled/commanded or made to be "kind" as the leader of Neo Hong Kong tried to spin it and only confirmed it's hypothesis that humans were the problem. Incidentally, Master Asia also believed that humanity was the cause of Earth's pain and wanted to fix the "problem",so when he came across the Devil Gundam he immediately understood what it was trying to accomplish and joined the Gundam as a 100% willing participant that didn't try to use the Gundam as a source of power. Seeing how Master Asia was an exception to its rule on humanity's lust for power the devil gundam actually respected Master Asia enough to not infect him; after all why infect an actual ally who doesn't care for more power, actually understands what you're doing and is very willing to aid you?
      As for the Guiana Highlands fight, there's a good chance that was a DG cell clone of Master Asia and his gundam that the real one was controlling while he was in Hong Kong (IE the clone was his eyes and ears as he remained in Hong Kong due to his sickness). Incidentally, this would also explain how Master Asia was able to catch MS sized ammunition, but I'm just pushing it there.

    • @GojiraFan-in9oo

      @@MachineMindDesigns that theory is extremely pushing it. Even in the 2nd half Master Asia was able to send a skyscraper flying with Domon's help despite being wounded, so destroying mobile suits with only a headband makes sense in that regard.
      Sure the Dark Gundam made a DG Cell clone of Kyoji, but that was Kyoji's last moment of being able to control the Dark Gundam.
      Also I doubt that the resurrected Dark Gundam is intelligent enough to show respect, as it was only until the final form that it was able to use emotions to strengthen itself.

Pegasus, like the trojan horse has two launch pads, heavy weaponiaries on its sides and complicated body design. Alexandria main launch pad located in the centre, and seems to be far more easily serviceable. The command room also bigger to accommodate more newer equipments and stacked, likely for the same reason.

    Question: How do pilots control a mobile suit really? I know that most MS cockpits have two levers/sticks similar to the throttle lever we have in airplanes, and they're also equipped with foot-pedals. But how do MS pilots control the roll, the yaw and the axis movement of the MS, not to mention the individual hand or arm movements we see when an MS tries to grab something, etc...

      In F91, when Seabook reaches for a beam rifle in the hangar, head mechanic's scolding implies that movements are definitely automated in part once task is determined, but also some degree of manual input is allowed.
      General movement would be easy to envision, but more specific limb manipulation would have to be both automated and somehow largely reliable to predict based on crude inputs.

    Question of the week (with regards to the model numbers):
    RGM-89 is the vanilla Jegan which appeared in CCA, U.C.0093 and 1988 in the real world. RGM-89D is the 'Jegan D Type' or aka 'Jegan Type-D' according to the HGUC box arts that appeared in Gundam Unicorn, U.C.0096 and 2010 in real life. Also in Unicorn, the RGM-89A2 is simply 'Jegan Type-A2', the RGM-89De stands for 'Jegan D Ecoas Type' and the RGM-89S stands for the 'Stark Jegan' and the 'EWAC Jegan' was numbered RGM-89DEW. The 'Jegan Type-D Escort Type' from Gundam Narrative is numbered RGM-89D-ESC.
    All that is understandable and reasonable. But when it comes to F91 I got super confused.
    According to the PB HGUC box art, 'Jegan A Type' is numbered RGM-89R rather than RGM-89A, which I have absolutely no clue about what the R stands for and why it is not assigned the model number RGM-89A. The same goes for the RGM-89J 'Jegan Normal Type' and the RGM-89M 'Jegan B Type'. The R, the J and the M after Jegan's model number do not make any sense to me and I doubt there is something to do with the order the anime released in real life as well as a reason in the U.C. universe. What is your opinion on this as the expert on the model numbers?

    In lore explanation could be that because Pegasus class warships are designed for autonomous operations, and Titans being autocratic, they did not want their captains to have the degree of operational freedom that Pegasus class would bring.
    I'm not exactly sure in what forms the Pegasus class allows for autonomous operations other than orbital re entry capability, but whatever it is, assuming that it is notable then this makes sense. Nothing will keep your officers in line if nobody has the capability of stepping out of your tightly controlled logistics.
    My wild guess on the "autonomous" aspect is that weapons selection on Pegasus class ships are really lean in a way that truly makes it jack of all trade while being light on logistical needs. For example, none of them are briming with heavy cannons and turrets, but have just a pair of mega particle cannons. They have pretty good carrier capacity and are pretty roomy but are much more survivable than columbus class. So perhaps the ship is just really excellent combination of lean minimal weapon selection that let skilled captains enough tools to pull of daring tricks, but light enough so that it remains light on supply requirement.

    Over the years Gundam type suits were used by Zeon against the Earth Federation. The GP02, Psycho, Moon, Xi, and even the MK II Gundams were all enemy units. Seeing how the idea of a "Gundam" is no longer exclusive then it makes sense why they wouldn't want to link their image to that kind of suit. Their warships, on the other hand, are what lead the charge and deploy the suits. They'd be the first things you're likely to see in major conflict and the warships' designs will have to be easy to identify.
    All that said, that's why it makes sense that the Gundam isn't emblematic of the Earth Federation these days.

Controlled descent perhaps, to make sure it didn't break up before it crash landed in some remote impoverished village, irradiated and stripped of its reactor and sensitive components. Hell, it wouldn't shock me to find out the feds chose that space deliberately, maybe they wanted to force a bunch of Zeon sympathizers out after the war by "accidentally" dumping radioactive material(the ship hull) there, which only made the zeon sympathizers more likely to want to retaliate violently. I would think the Pegasus-class is like the Nimitz or Gerald R. Ford-class carriers. Rare, but not rare enough because of their cost and strategic importance. Then the cost to maintain a fleet of them after that is too significant compare to other ships like salamis so most are decommissioned. With various variants and different models in the class (like the Spartan in Thunderbolt), it's quite easy to understand why the class is decommissioned only 8 years after the OYW. I mean just look at the class itself and you can see only the first 3 ships have a similar structural design (if I'm not wrong). From the Blanc Rival or the Thoroughbred onward, each ship has a somewhat completely different design. I can't imagine how much of a pain for the logistic corp of the EFF to manage the supply and repair for them. So quite understandable when they say "good riddance" to the Albion.

    Question:
    It has been established throughout the Gundam expanded lore that due to different manufacturers having different standards for equipment, it is near impossible for mobile suits from one faction are unable to properly use weapons from another faction(eg. A GM can't properly use a Zaku's Machine gun. At least, not without potentially losing the targeting system, or being unable to operate properly). This also applies to most other AU series(with notable exceptions for G Gundam and IBO), where you don't usually see a faction's MS use weapons from the enemy(eg. an AEU Enact can't use a Tieren's smoothbore gun, and vice versa).
    So how was Waltfield's Gaia(which was implied to be the same one that was used by Stella) able to instantly use the Strike's beam rifle, which uses a different handplug and FCS drivers?

    Question: What ship class came between the Argama and Niel Argama? Was the Niel Agama a unique ship?

    I bet money the Albion got scrapped immediately following the events of 0083, I mean, they put Captain Synapse to death and buried all the files

    What about the fact that Dogosse Giar Class. Like The General Revil is straight up better 48 MS with 4 catapult instead of what 12 or so MS plus another 6 or so Fighters with 2 ms Catapult.
    with the spartan being the only custom build ship with extra ms compartment for about dozen in main hangar, And 6 ms with 6 or 4 ball each for support in each of the 4 landing craft totalling 36 ms with 24 to 16 balls also few fighter and flight system.
    Anyway what are you're thought on MS carrier in general. I'd like to hear more about the columbus and salamis. Also maybe the zeta to unicorn era carrier.

      I'd like to know what the Federation did with the Magellan class ship (I hope I saying that right) after the one year war. Did it get upgraded like the Salamis? Or was it just completely scrapped in favor of the salamis?

      @@blackcomet2nd950 upgraded up to 0083 and i think stopped used by gryps war. Even if its cheap, post OYW Frontline is basicly Gone replaced with Guerrilla attack here and there, so i guess they decided high performance Quick reaction force is the way forward.
      Look at the Londo bel Carriers small and armed with Very High Spec MS (Lot of custom Build high performance unit in manga and anime. Like the Stark Jegan, Rezels, Delta plus and Jesta for crying out loud).
      And by The time of Gryps war everything before that is basicly zeon hunting too, the attack on 0083 probably make the feds realized that mass pro unit and conscript pilot and ship crew isn't what they need against A LOT of OYW Zeon Veteran. The Albion, Spartan Taskforce and Phantom sweep Taskforce also many other Manga related Taskforce are the way forward up to that point, the only exception to the rule is regular patrol unit which is why they build the Hizack and upgrade remaining GM1 into 2 with a hand me down Salamis Carrying them which are Plenty post OYW and 0083 Federation Re-Armanent also magellan isn't build with MS in mind for stuff like Extra Refuel, Re-Arm, And probably basic stuff like pilot living area (drr beds,Briefing and locker room) Since its built Before GM are in the fight.

    Here is something I thought about. But I guess solid rounds might as well be burnt up by earth atmosphere but if they didn’t. A single zaku bullet could do a lot.

    Hello, I am here to answer one question that's been bugging me a while.
    If the RX series' model numbers represents each unit's year of starting development, why is the Gundam Mk. II's model number 178?

    Yeah I always thought the Solomon theory was having way too many holes from it being nuked from whatever's left of it not being halted during its travel to Earth by the Federation or salvager's or whatever and of course re-entering the Earth's atmosphere without just blowing up because I highly doubt it's systems to protect it from re-entry still work and of course without it being a miniature space Colony crashing and exploding into a crater in a bunch of Pegasus pieces all over the place when the impacts

    Hm, I never thought about where the Pegasus class went in Zeta before. Interesting. You know a question that popped into my mind, maybe you've answered it already, but I can't remember any Federation mobile armors, if you discount the ones that are just mobile suits that transform into flight mode. Did they have any and if not, why?

    Also if it was the Albion, the wings getting sheared off by the mountain would've probably made thee surrounding mountain unstable along with much more damage to the hull.
    Also what happened to Dorel Ronah after F91?

    The Doggose Giar/General Revil was basically an upgunned and upscaled Pegasus.
