The yellowish plants he's standing in is one of the worst plants in the Southeast. Because it forms dense stands that outcompete native plants, produces tons of long-lasting seeds, has deep roots that access water and nutrients others can't, releases chemicals that inhibit nearby growth, and alters soil chemistry by fixing nitrogen it domminates other grassland plants. These traits make it one of the worst invasive plants for grasslands. Edit: damn his lyrics are always killer.
Oh, go on, give him another horror to sing about! Kudzu, honeysuckle, out west we have these salt cedars that suck up all the groundwater, then there’s the invasive zebra mussels…
This is so fucking awesome. Been going down the rabbit hole listening to all of your videos on here for about 2 weeks now and I can't get enough! And you keep 'em coming, and all are great...astounding!
@@tylerehrlich1471 I've seen a few clips of songs, like "Mass Shootings" and one, forget the title but he sings about how You'll Never Own a Home that are probably from tiktok or something, but he doesn't have full length recordings of them on the youtube channel! Would be cool to be able to find those somewhere!
Mr.Welles I sing your songs riding my bike miles to and from my 12 hour shifts I personally want to thank you for your work. Your music is raw and honest and helps me pedal
Jesse. Just seen your live set at Farm Aid. I lost 3 close friends within a few months of each other this year and your music got me through a lot of sleepless nights and panic attacks. You're amazing and I wanted to get the chance to thank you personally, so I hope you see this. But if not, thank you, all the way from the UK! Hope I get to see you live one day! Much love Xx
I generally look forward to seeing you skyrocket to the level you already live on for most of us. Could possibly be the best songwriter in the last 20 years.
This song goes with my favorites of his: the emotional bangers!! (Fear is the mind killer, the poor, anything but me, why don’t you love me?) Jesse Welles is tapping in to some spirituality baby
My day is complete after a fine meal, checking in with the family, wash the dust off and settle in to another fine piece of work from this man. Thank you Jesse
I’m a cynic, mostly miserable person who always rushes to find something not to like about anything…….but damn it I can’t find anything I don’t dig about Jesse Welles. Bravo and thank you brother
Jesse, thank you for putting into words and music what some of us feel in our hearts, but never seem to be able to put into words and music ourselves. We have needed someone like you Jesse, thanks for showing up when we needed you most. We are all one human family and I am awefully glad you're our Heartbrother. Again, thanks for the music Jesse, and the stories, because in the end, that's what our lives are made of...stories.
He is like some Robert Johnson crossroads kind of stuff. From a talented punk rocker who goes away for a while and comes back as the premier singer songwriter of a generation (or maybe ever!). I spent the 70s unraveling and trying to interpret Ian Anderson, Geezer Butler…. In those guys whole careers they never put out as much culturally significant heavy sh** as Jesse. “Wow, Heaaaavy Maaan”
Your songs are very relevant to personal problems I've been working on recently. Not every song speaks to my woes but I still take the truths you sing about either way. I thank you deeply for these songs you give me strength to rise when I push myself down and to keep moving forward.
cool song. love the structure and breaks, and the "alright" before each guitar/harmonica part. i can tell you're feeling this one, love to hear the story behind it.
Mmm love this young mans 'vocal fry' very distinctive. . a big talent yet to be discovered, . glad the yt rabbit hole led me here. Wishing you the best young man.. Keep on keeping on
In just one verse, so far I’m seeing a possible Dylan reference “dealing in slaves”, a Malcom x reference “salt the roots” and possibly a strange fruit reference: cut the tree that grew the “fruit”. This guy is prolific.
Discovered you here on youtube and really enjoy your originality. You know you got it ! Wish you all the best in your life and many inspirational, thoughtful strong songs. Thanks for bringing us some real music brother !!!❤
Damn. Keeps getting better. Edit: I mean all my favorite songwriters were all dead and gone and I thought music and the world was dead and dying but holy shit brother. What a time to be alive and witness possibly one of the greatest blossoming right before all of our eyes.
Whew! As a sometime depressed, often cranky and sarcastic person blessed with a partner who isn’t wired that way- I’d say this hits a lot closer to home than some of the others. Reminds me of a line from another old favorite song, “Seven Waves” - “keeping my head down like I always do / when you walk in with the blues”
Thanks Jesse. Hope you’re touring through the Pacific Northwest soon. Definitely come to the show. Crazy to see an artist such as yourself working on your craft day-in, day-out. Thing of rough-hewn beauty.
Adding this to my playlist. The heart and soul in the music and Jesse’s singing make my heart smile. Much love to you and yours. Thank you for remaining real in an unreal world.
I think these songs are better just as they are. Over complicating them would detract from the very personal nature of them. It's kind of like the Mashup snack trend of the early 2000's. Sometimes you just want a simple candy bar so you can enjoy & appreciate the flavor. Adding every ingredient under the sun makes for a unique flavor, but doing so obliterates the individual flavors.
@@tacticalnewfie2922 if he doesn't change a thing, then he will be able to keep playing his songs with the full band as well :) it's a win-win to have both
@@williamallen7836 he does it both ways anyways, he started 10 years ago as a rock musician, and you can hear that in him especially in the song like this
You're a gem, my friend- keep it up! I swear I went deer hunting in the background of this video years ago... probably just looks the same, but it's kinda uncanny.
