The Bob Dylan of our generation that deserves to be the top folk musician in the next 5 years. He is prolific with meaningful lyrics that represent the perils of greedy capitalism in a way that is palpable.
That jesse character really shot himself in the foot leading with that highly offensive Walmart trash song he wrote. I mean right off he says he's not going to walmart because some dude called him queer. What's wrong with being queer. And then he puts down large families with red-headed children calling them buzzards in the clearance section. And then he has a damn problem with what people choose to wear, specifically pajamas. This guy really showed his true ugly colors. And there's a reason that NONE of those music legends recognized jesse's offensive music. Man, he really screwed up BIGTIME leading with that trash opinionated crap that came from his heart
Yep, singing that highly offensive, immaturely opinionated walmart song he wrote wrote from the heart--singing that right off was like him taking a big dump on Farm Aid. That guy . . . shaking my head
@@kkeennppss the question you should be concerned with is WTF is that sad little red-flag shirt wearing pop-star fantasy dreamer saying. Leading with a song where in the first stanza he says he ain't going to walmart because Tanner called him "queer" . . . verbatim. Is something wrong with that choice? He thinks so since he found it so offensive that he ain't going to walmart today--adolescent mentality to say the leastestestest. Then he has a problem with what people choose to wear, calling out someone sporting PJs. But most distasteful was his bigoted remarks about large families with red-haired kids shopping the clearance section, which he denigrated these people as "buzzards." That sums it up. The doctors who cure cancer have been forced out of the United States, or into oblivion. Cancer is a cash cow, like all chronic illness.
A lost generation has a voice…unparalleled in American music and arguably the English language itself. He’s at least one in a 100 million rare - a priceless gift to the common folk. Pray for his wisdom and protection against the Usurpers he speaks out against; by naming them, he makes himself a target.
Thank you for posting this! Any chance you grabbed Charley Crockett and/or Margo Price’s sets from the livestream as well? I can’t find even find a lo-res rip, let alone this 1080p HD quality 😯 Cheers!
Definitely talented at crafting songs....not sure how an hour of these would land for me. The statements are the easy part.....any contrasting views/solutions? IMO.
@@skaterdavedownsouth Thanks, not saying I can do it, just saying the acerbic social commentary alone is not to my liking, hence IMO. Songwriters, Dylan included, paint the scenario then craft some sort of resolution, which is just not the case here. Again, just my observation. Guy is certainly a breath of fresh air.
@@ps-bi2sr It's cathartic. I see where you're coming from, but I don't think everyone who complains should have a handy solution, unless it's a debate or they are policymakers. With that as a requirement, you'd either stop hearing about problems altogether (like the proverbial ostrich), or you'd have people convincing themselves that they're experts in every topic they touch on. (Hmm. Yeah, pretty sure we're already at that stage.) To me, what singer/songwriters like Dylan - and, to an extent still to be determined, Jesse - do is tap into visceral fears and frustrations that cut across generations at a given moment in time. The key to their success as artists, imo, is precisely that they don't give in to nihilism (coming from someone who does). When the alternative message is not as simple as "stop bombing children", I think both of them go a long way to underline what gives us hope and keeps us going despite all the ugliness, double-think, and moral bankruptcy. To speak to your point, I wish he'd played That Can't Be Right, Let It Be Me, Anything But Me, or Bugs - this last one is literally just a ditty about bugs, and I can't think of a better palate cleanser; if you're willing to give him another shot but want something more lighthearted, I'd start there. Sorry for the wall of text; I saw you being constructive and felt comfortable sharing my thoughts.
@@ps-bi2sr I’m trying to think of one Dylan song that gives a solution. I’ve spent hundreds of hours listening to Dylan, and can’t think of a solution song. My memory’s not too great though. Help me out.

Sheeeeeit he is a young Woody Guthrie
Yea he's like a modern mix between Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan to me. So awesome to see protest folk music is still alive!
He is an amazing songwriter and performer. He is a national gem.

you gotta come outta the woods at some point
He is a Star - helping to keep our spirits up in dark times like these!🌹🍀🌹🍀🌻🌻🌻🌹🍀🌹🍀
Wish he had done “Wheel” . But those were probably his best commentary pieces. Also like his harmonica and whistling work.
We all have our favs... Can't have it all but I have to wish for Bugs and Dogs. I am just glad he is getting this national exposure.
I wish this set was about 30 minutes longer.
humble is a good cause. thanks jesse and for posting tom
We loved it! More please!
Great song choice for this set!
I can't believe he only got 9 minutes. That's criminal...
Awesomeness!!
I love him in that red shirt
This kid's got it all. Great to see him out of the woods handling this performance like a seasoned pro.
He's the greatest living songwriter.
To the top of the internets with Jesse! Go, Jesse, go!🌎💗🎉
Folk that comments on the times is back!
Let's hope they don't try and silence him like they do the rest
There’s a lot of the legendary Harry Chapin coming through in the first song. Love it Jesse
Jesse, YOU ARE MY FAVORITE! 😍 I thank 🙏 God for you! 🙏
Jesse was the sound of Summer 2024. A stellar musician.
Am I the only one put off by the millions of LEDs surrounding the Farm Aid set?
I love Jesse Welles, he gives me hope for the future ❤ He’s a Superstar and I just can’t wait to see him really take off, TAKE IT HANDS 🙌
Very, VERY upset I missed him! Brilliant.
I'm fully in love with this guys mind. Every day I start my day with a jesse song. Amazing guy.
Reminds me of the first song i wrote in parody called bl0w job Betty. Merely observational
I kept saying. I just ni just. I just. Incredible
Just my thought, after my first listen. A bit folk, and a bit vaudeville. So, I like it!

Idk what camera what used for this but in a good way, it looks like this was filmed decades ago.
I dont go to wally world either. Its like a parallel universe, and they arent even cheap!
The emotional ride you go on with jesse is always so intense. The guys the best around at the moment.
I wish he would’ve sang The Poor
Possibly America's best songwriter since Dylan. Pay attention to Jesse Welles!
Better than Dylan in my book.
@@RebeccaGodfrey-mw7el Wow, and no. Better suited to a comedy club or variety show, but to each his own.
