You're bike with it's 53 lbs of torque would have more power even at low rpm but as the rpms rise your bike with it's 120 horsepower would be like a mountain lion compared to a housecat.

The MT-07 is by all accounts a phenomenal motorcycle. Personally though I love an inline-4 too much to ever be interested in a parallel twin, so I went for a CBR650. Next up will probably be a Z900. The dealer I bought my Honda from had a Z900 demo in hand and practically begged me to take it out for a little while. Not wanting to be rude, I spent an hour riding around Daytona, including a sprint up I-95. So yeah, I'm pretty much sold on that bike now. :)
Also, very experienced riders: it's cheap.. throw an Akro exhaust, bars, pegs, fuel mapping and front springs, and the little MT07 is a bunch of fun to hoon around on 👍
Yeah I’m looking to get a Yamaha Mt-07 this month I had a KTM 390 before but it had a major engine failure and ended up costing me 2-3 thousand dollars… not fun Never buy KTM 👎🏻

What a clear and concise bike review! I think the difference in throttle response you noticed between your Street Triple R and the Yamaha may have to do with the different model years. Each successive Euro standard is more stringent and manufacturers are struggling to maintain performance and feel, such as initial throttle response and smoothness at take-off, as they make design adjustments in line with the tougher standards. Having said that, there are also differences among throttle and engine mapping and it is possible Yamaha intentionally implemented a milder throttle response on the MT07 to make it more approachable for newer riders. It's weird that the older Triumphs, or some of them, did not have hazard warning lights. I think the newer ones have a separate switch for that. (I believe the European bikes at least have a "parking light" function which leaves the appropriate rear light--depending on market-- on after the ignition is turned to or past the lock position.)
I can tell you that BMW has been putting hazard lights on the GS for some time. The 1150, 1200 I test rode and the 1250 I own have all had them. US spec bikes.
Different ratio progressive throttle tubes can change how "touchy" a throttle feels. There are lots of other factors but that is an easy, cheap way to change that feel.
You're exactly right. I did the R6 throttle tube swap on my FZ07 and it was night and day. It's probably the single best mod for the money and I can't recommend it enough.
Thank you for this review! I’m 5’5 and bought an MT 07 and was worried it was too tall for me because I can touch, im just on like mid foot/toes not flat footed. I haven’t rode on two wheels for about 9 years since I used to putt around on my dirt bike. My first ride on my motorcycle was about 150 feet long lol I’ve decided to practice in parking lots first to regain my confidence and get better balance. This video gave me a confidence boost to keep trying!
MT-07 is the bike I wheelied through town during license training (not on purpose - the instructor was unimpressed). Swapped to an er6n for the actual bike license test after that for a more predictable low speed throttle. I prefer my current Trident over both in honesty - but I’m a grandad so that’s perfectly ok ;)
Unspoken Yamaha advantage is that it NEVER breaks. Unlike the Triumph, etc. I own an FZ07 (same as MT07). My fav bike is my Husqvarna 701sm. But the most reliable bikes I own are all Yamaha.
Finally, a motorcycle review that has meaning and value for me. I’m 72 years old, my upper body strength isn’t what it used to be, I have short legs, and I ride like an old man because I’m an old man. I love riding a motorcycle just for the joy of riding a motorcycle. There are plenty of people reviewing motorcycles knowing their audience is a young male who demands performance. I appreciate that, my son is one of them. My son rides a BMW 1000 SS something or other and takes it to the track. I like twisty mountain or valley roads where a motorcycle is just plain fun without going fast. In that way Doodle’s review is just on target and very unique. I believe there is a very large audience for this type of work once she is discovered by more riders.
I've heard the MT07's torque is supposedly around 50ish, but I'm not sure how accurate that number is cause some people say its a bit higher (52-53ish)
I have a 2017 FZ07 with ABS and love it! I put 15k miles on it so far. My last bike was a 2012 Ninja 250R that I put 12k miles on it. I immediately did an accidental wheelie when I first started riding the FZ07. I hate the headlight on the 2021. Everything else looks like a great upgrade. I have a M4 exhaust on mine, sounds like a monster.
I'm surprised you haven't reached out to more sponsors! Also, you talk about stock accessories, which is great, but how about aftermarket like T-Rex for sliders or seats haha. I know I just for my Norton seat in for my Z400! but it's not a 2021 so...keep the content coming! I like watching the vids.
The Storm Fluo Grey with Red wheels just looks great to me I love on the mt03 also. Got to ride the Triumph but it was buzzy in the handlebars at least the one I was on gave me fits after about an hour. Gotta try the MT07 but I also love the little MT03. So many great bikes I need them all
MT-07 has 65Nm torque at 6500 rpm... dunno what that is in ...what ever America measured it in :D But the Z650 is at 64Nm at 6700 rpm...so pretty close :)

Great vid Doodle.....btw the MT07 torque is listed as follows: Torque 68 N⋅m (50 lbf⋅ft) @ 6,500 rpm 61.6 N⋅m (45.4 lbf⋅ft) @ 6,600 rpm (rear wheel) ....you're welcome, ride safe...from the UK
Try the Triumph Speed Twin, 1200cc. Globs of torque 83.3 ft. lbs., 96 HP, Parallel twin, 270 crank, 2 lbs. lighter than the 900cc Triumph Street Twin, seat height around 31.7 and low down wet weight around 475lbs. Check it out. Nice review of the MT-07
Yay I love my hand-me-down FZ-07, she's what I started riding on! People tell me the engine braking is a bit abrupt but it's what I'm used to, did you feel that way when you test rode?? (also, I ride like a grandma too so fret not!)
When I got my first bike, i tried a MT-07 and a Kawasaki ER-6N. I bought a 2014 MT-07, it felt great and still does. The Kawasaki was a bit too small for me (5'9.5"). So, yeah, awesome mid-level naked bike for mid-sized people. :D
I think the best 650 bikes for short people are the Z650 or the SV 650 for thei low seat high. I am 186 cm and I have a MT 07 2014, and I love my bike, the only bad thing is the ground clerance, so I hope in the future have the TENRE 700 if it comes to my country.

MOVING TO GEORGIA!💜...Sorry for yelling, wanted to get your attention lol. If you ever see this I could use your advice. I'll be moving to Gainesville but often traveling to Decatur to see family. Might sell my car because of gas prices and to build a savings. Would a 300cc be enough for daily commuting/traveling? I was also considering getting the Honda rebel dct and growing into it because I have anxiety. Keep in mind I'm 5"1-5"2 with boots, very little riding experience (electric motorcycle, weighs 216lbs). What would you suggest? Also is Georgia in general a chill place to ride?..I'm coming from NY sooo😳 I'm scared lol
Revzilla describes bike as exceedingly agreeable in all respects accept jerky throttle response in town but it's not terrible said revzilla. He said the Trident got the throttle issue right.
That spec you keep mentioning is probably ride-by-wire vs cable throttles. A physical cable moves the valves open on the motorcycle. And it does so exponentially-ish. A ride-by-wire system tries to read your inputs and compute them as a linear input. Engineering Explained has a great 3 minute video breaking this down in cars. It's called Drive By Wire. I typed all this before researching and both the MT-07 and Street Triple are cable actuated throttles. It could just be that the high points of the torque curve is available more often in the ST than the MT-07. Which does appear to be true. So the power is more available through the rev range, which is also what people say about triples. And some bikes just rev easier than others. If you're riding like a grandma, and I do this too, it'll take some bikes longer for that power to snap on because they're meant to be ridden higher in the RPMs. I believe its called "Lugging the engine"
Hopefully, you see this. I'm looking to upgrade to a bigger cc and test rode a mt 07. Now 5 minutea isnt much of a test, but how did your back feel after riding for more than 30 minutes? I have a vstar 250 and its been great, but I like the sporty look and torque of the mt 07
Hi, I’d like to know. Since I’m so confused looking at so many options to buy a naked bike. I need help, is it MT 03 or Z650 as first bike. I don’t think I can compare both bikes, since the Cc is different and engine, everything else. I cannot afford Mt 07 right now. I’m thinking to get Mt 03 and it will outgrow me at some point then go for z650 or mt 07. I do a lot of city riding and a bit of highway. I have heard a lot about Z650 being good for everyday commuting. I’d like to know from an expert rider like you for help.
You said avoiding Atlanta traffic. Bahahaha. Impossible without a helicopter. I’m just north of ATL, one minute everything is flowing then you blink and 75 is a parking lot. Looking hard at the MT07 BTW. Thanks for the vid.
I’m on the other end of the spectrum from you, 6’4” and about 240 lb. I’ve ridden an MT07 all day and I can’t really recommend it for anyone taller than 6 feet. And yes, that seat isn’t great.
I am glad you don't have to draw Santa Claus in a windowless office anymore Doodle. You get to enjoy the mountins. You betcha I love those squiggly line signs also.
Video idea: if you were to make a custom Frankenstein bike, with all your favourite parts from all the bikes you've test ridden, which parts would you choose?
Before you say cruisers are too slow, try something that's not an s40 boulevard. Not exactly a prime example of a cruiser... I would know, cuz I have one
7:26 Maybe the MT-07 has more torque higher up the rev range. Which might not be something a grandma rider would experience. I doubt you reve the bike up to the red line much. Whereas the Street Triple R is supposed to have even torque right through the rev range. There's also something called fueling that might have an effect on what you're describing.
The reviews are great and future giving specs with the oops of lost footage. I believe you would give a very honest opinion of the R7...... Please just continue doing what you love to do and thank you
I just test rode a Tracer 700 (same motor) and enjoyed it so much that I got it. I really hope it will be more comfortable than the MT-07. Just I case, I ordered it with a comfort seat. My previous bike had 48 HP, but I think I can handle it.
I have had my MT-07 since 2016 which is custom painted, I had so much fun riding it that CP2 engine is brilliant and sounds amazing with an aftermarket exhaust. This weekend i am going to a place reservation for the new R7 as I started on an R125 so I want a Sportbike this time round.
I wanted to get this so bad but could not find it anywhere. I ended up getting a honda cb500f. It's my first bike so I figured I could always upgrade to an mt07 in the future.
@@l-mac5105 yeah I thought of the same thing happening. I just got into the market at the absolute worst time. If/when I upgrade I figured my wife could ride the 500 (shes a beginner as well but no experience where I have had some) and we could have fun trips together haha.
I read somewhere this may just be a rumor though. There's a crap load of motorcycles on Evergiven and that ship is impounded. And someone said amongst those was a lot of Yamaha Mt series.
I don’t think mt07 good for mountain and twisty since the shocks are so soft and nimble. On a bump on a turn, it’s a high chance of “ I had to lay her down “
Trick for short riders never stop, then no need to put foot down LOL I am 5 7 it can be a pain on certain bikes but I ride outside city where stopping is rare.
Without checking, I think the Street Triple will be lighter, hence feeling more torqey. I saw in reviews that the MT-07 has front suspension which is a little soft. Apparently making it feel a touch vague in cornering, although that may be high speed cornering. Also I think it gets a bit tail-end 'funny' at high speed.
I've read that the front suspension is easy to fix. What I read is, saw 10 to 15mm off the spacer (depending on your weight) and put in thicker fork oil and it's fixed.

What a clear and concise bike review! I think the difference in throttle response you noticed between your Street Triple R and the Yamaha may have to do with the different model years. Your Triumph is a few years older and was probably manufactured to comply with Euro 4, or earlier. Each successive Euro standard is more stringent and manufacturers are struggling to maintain performance and feel, such as initial throttle response and smoothness at take-off, as they make design adjustments in line with the tougher standards. Less than 8000? Are they overpriced in Europe? Here we get them for 9.772,88 USD
It should have around 69 Nm torque, I have 2024 model and it has 67,5 but older models had just a little bit more for some reason
I am glad you don't have to draw Santa Claus in a windowless office anymore Doodle. You get to enjoy the mountins. You betcha I love those squiggly line signs also.
Nice video! Check out my 2019 mt-07! I really like it for daily driving.
Nice 👍🙂 from Gujar Khan Pakistan
Yamaha MT 07 sure looks like a cool and interesting street bike. I really loved the brightly lit digital instrument panel.
Video idea: if you were to make a custom Frankenstein bike, with all your favourite parts from all the bikes you've test ridden, which parts would you choose?
🤔 hmm…. I’ll have to think about that one… and save it for the video when I review all the similar bikes at the end of this year!
Before you say cruisers are too slow, try something that's not an s40 boulevard. Not exactly a prime example of a cruiser... I would know, cuz I have one
Four ways flashers; my 1977 KZ650c had them then my 1979 RD 400 had auto eturn flashers
How's the viewing angle on mirrors?..can u c your lbow?...plan to mount on different bike so im asking...tx
Awsome !!!!!!
Please just continue doing what you love to do and thank you
Get an OEM R6 throttle tube, that will fix the throttle response issue you were describing
Inventory is low here in Australia and there is a wait for anything ordered. So I broke down and bought a 2016 MT-07.
The MT07 is fun...but maintenance on it is insane!
You ever try and change the air filter or plugs?
So what do you prefer.
Japaneese, anerican , european or british machines.
Have you tried these new thing with 2 front wheels, they look strange.
You're 5'4" with a 31" inseam? That's so unfair, I'm 5'10" and have a 29.5" inseam.
@B B I bought a CB500F for my first bike also. Ten months later, I upgraded to an SV650. I wish I’d bought the SV650 to begin with.
Message for Yamaha executives: Screw me once shame on you. Screw me twice shame on me. I'll pass on everything Yamaha
A'murrika
I don’t think mt07 good for mountain and twisty since the shocks are so soft and nimble. On a bump on a turn, it’s a high chance of “ I had to lay her down “
Would it be at all possible for me to ride an mt07? I’m looking for a bike and have a 28” inseam but I really like the mt07
2 cylinder is very tourque than 3-4 cylinder. 2 cylinder more responsive
Thats what I gat xsr700 that same color that came out ur video Kool. Love u n ur bike .. stay safe
“It’s your little brown friend” I can’t…😂😂😂😂❤️❤️
Trick for short riders never stop, then no need to put foot down LOL I am 5 7 it can be a pain on certain bikes but I ride outside city where stopping is rare.
Drop the forks through the triple clamps and get a shorter shock. Make it yours. Don't compromise.
The only disservice is riding an mt07's without a full exhaust system.
Can you review Suzuki SV650?? I wanna hear your review about it.
Why on earth this video has BAHASA INDONESIA :)
