God the instant reaction he had to Charlie starting to try and defend him and the fear he must've had to jump in right in that moment proved how much I feel he can be redeemed. (plot wise) Also nearly made me bawl.

This aspect demonstrates a real understanding of how abusers manipulate the perception of their victims. Valentino has real power, yes. But he's made Angel see him as much more than he really is. Charlie, for example, is canonically FAR more powerful than Valentino. She could destroy him if she chose to invoke her powers. While Angel hasn't seen her power he knows who she is, Lucifer's own child and far above Valentino. We the audience also get to see Valentino not wishing to directly confront her! He grits his teeth and puts up with her. He threatens Angel to make Angel talk her into leaving. Val knows he cannot actually hurt Charlie! But Angel legitimately believes Valentino is all-powerful, against basic reason and the evidence of his own eyes.

Tough love is more effective than "Oh, don't worry it's gonna be okay, it gets better". No. It doesn't magically get better by itself. You try to make the best of what you have, whatever situation you're in, and if you're lucky like Angel Dust, you're not alone.
It's okay not to be okay. You can "not be okay" with others. We're all losers. Nobody is flawless.
Angel Dust thinks he's protecting Charlie, because that's what Valentino wants him to think. Charlie could and was absolutely about to wreck him into next tuesday. It's a classic among abusers, they want you to think NO ONE can help you.
He was when he told Charlie to leave the first time she came in. He begged her to leave so she wouldn’t get hurt.
It’s actually interesting, because looking back at the scene, he doesn’t even mention to him that he’d hurt Charlie. He just tells Angel Dust that she can’t protect him, and to get her out of the work place, while letting Angel come up with and believe the idea Valentino would do something
There's nothing that Valentino could do to Charlie physically, but he could absolutely destroy her emotionally, and that's what Angel really fears.

I want to point out that sense Angel signed the contract with his real name, and not his Demon name, it makes me think that Val took advantage of his so soon after he died that he hadn’t come up with the name “Angel” yet
It might be Val who gave him his new name. Imo it would be fitting for him to name Angel after how he died just to rub it in his face and reduce him to his lowest point so it would be easier for Val to take credit for building him up from "nothing."

This would also imply that Val is possibly the eldest of the Vee’s since Angel died in the late forties and Val would have had to have a decent amount of power already to form the contract.
Angel in his human days as Anthony died from overdose. It is possible he ODed on Angel Dust (pretty sure it's a name for PCP) , henceforth he began using that name. Which is sad considering it's a constant reminder of how he lived and died in his previous life.

What some folks didn't know about Poison is that it isn't glamorizing what happened to him, rather it adds to the horror by essentially embodying the worst of... That particular industry.
"Forced to act like they enjoyed it even though they clearly weren't", "taking drugs to make the work easier", "possibly being used in universe by the company to lure more people in", all of that.
And then there is Loser Baby which embodies the very concept of "when you've hit rock bottom, the only way left to go is up. But first, you gotta admit your situation to yourself".
When they are bound with ropes , Angel's rope is chaotic and Husk's is neatly wrapped. Maybe pointing to the nature of their respective "owners".
Valentino being an emotional in-the-moment type & Alastor being neat/calculating.
I translated that as Alastor having a tighter grip on Husk while Valentino has a looser grip on Angel. Which is furthered when Angel’s ropes are the first to drop while Husk’s comes after. Maybe that means Angel has a better chance of getting away from Val

The nature of Husk and Alastor's relationship seems to be a lot more strict whereas a basic contract, essentially an employee agreement from what little we KNOW, seems to be what Val has Angel under. Angel "sold his soul..." in a metaphoric sense, whereas based on Husk's info he seems to have quite literally gambled his soul away to Alastor (who deals in souls in a much more literal sense). Valentino "owns" Angel Dust, but all it takes is Charlie to assert authority and remind Valentino SHE owns HIM as the princess of hell. Boom, he loses. And while he deserves death, there are fates worse than that, and it would do nothing less than torture and infuriate him knowing he lost his control over anyone let alone his biggest cash grab in Angel (far as we know).
The ropes tying Angel seem more like bondage while husks just looks to be tied up in a normal sense

Quick reminder: Canonically Angeldust is 8ft and Alastor is 7ft, the sinners are much bigger and taller than they may seem to us in the Show. Zestial for example is 11.4 feet tall, so Valentino, even if there is no official height for him, probably stands over 12 feet tall. Imagine how terrifying it would be to have him in front of you, even without all his powers, which we barely know at all. Although of course I don't think this will stop Morgan, who will just go looking for a ladder to punch him better.

This episode really affected me with Angels story. I was SOBBING. The way he said he is doing it so he can completely fuck himself up and break himself so he won't be Vals favourite anymore. Goddamn. Also, Poison is a straight bop, but boy is it HEAVY. Husk and Angel Dust are so cute together. I am definitely onboard with their ship. I really want Charlie to fully fuck up Val. We keep seeing hints at her demon form, and I think had Angel not gotten involved, she would've gone full rage mode on Val.

I'm my opinion this episode was way better than it had any right to be, comforted me in a way that most shows are too scared to show. Husk is DEFINITELY solidified as a top three favorite character, despite being able to swear like a sailor and a bit of a grouch, Husk certainly knows how to be classy. Whether or not they go for friends or lovers with them in the series, I'm just glad Angel found someone that can understand him and be there for him. Charlie's first attempt at intervening in Angel's situation may have been disastrous, but I'm hoping Angel's genuine allies will all come together and destroy the operation. I feel like Angel is the main character and everyone else is support. I'm hoping Charlie does go full demon on Val and squish him like the insect he is.

The only silver lining in that scene with Val was when Angel said "...Just don't hurt her." It was nice to have some on screen confirmation of how much he cares about Charlie.
I find it curious that Angel thinks that Val could really hurt Charlie, since if he even thought of laying a finger on him, Lucifer would kill him in a single movement.

I’d just like to mention how AMAZING of a VA Blake Roman was this episode. He’s been amazing all throughout the series so far but he really SHINES this episode! The fact that THIS was his first VA role is AMAZING and INSANE !!!! Fun fact too; he also voices the egg boiz which is also INSANE, this dudes got some serious range !! Props to him for his amazing performance as Angel so far!!👏

This episode was so sad. Can’t believe this is the same one where we’ll hear the song, “Poison”. I wish Charlie got to unleash her demonic side, she’s the Princess of Hell and anyone like that bastard Valentino is abusive to one of her friends, she needs to let out all that rage and power. She’s literally the third strongest being in Hell.
As for Angel, what’s happening to him, well he freaking doesn’t deserve any of this. At least Husk is being there for him, also can’t believe we got to hear a very healthy and fun song with Keith David. He truly has *Friends on the OTHER side.*

Morgan's gonna need a new punching bag after this one. Angel Dust deserves so much better than this. The way Valentino treats him and what Angel said about trying to get broken enough that Val will let him go, it's really painful to watch. I'm glad he and Husk have found common ground and can support eachother. And I love the message in "Loser, Baby." It's not your usual, "cheer up, things will get better" song. It's more realistic. Yeah, Angel's life is screwed up, but he's not alone. He now has someone who understands that he can look to for support. That's as good a start as any.

I think they knew this episode was gonna break people's hearts, so they gave Keith (one of the *GREATEST* voices humanity was lucky enough to recieve) a song to make everyone feel better and smile.
While the leader of the V’s almost filled us with despair, Dr. Facilier’s reincarnation held his hand out to Angel and fans of the show. He sang that song, thus filling us all with hope.

Great Angel now has Husk to lean on. He REALLLLYYYY needs that. And its so nice to see how much Angel cares for Charile and wants to keep her safe.
That Morgan Terry version of the Hazbin intro is really nice, honestly. I hope you're doing better now. Great episode and I love it from a storytelling view, and the songs are some of the best yet, but super heavy, and I hope you've been taking care of yourself since you watched it.
A small detail that i absolutely love in "Loser Baby" is how Husk reaches his hand out for Angel to take it, he's gentle with him, and not agressive like Valentino

This episode had (what I feel like) is a good representation of people who are SA victims. I am one myself and I’m doing well in the recovery from that trauma. It shows how victims of SA can be scared/horrified to speak up in fear of getting hurt again. Ye ethics takes it to a very extreme degree, and I pray no one has had it this bad. It does also show how messed up that can leave someone. Showing how they act all fine or even flirty to others as a coping mechanism was really comforting. I personally feel like it did a good job at showing the reality of this kind of situation.
A fun little reference near the end of the episode: when Angel and Husk are talking shit about Valentino, Angel talks about Val spending 30 minutes to count a few bills. That was a reference to the Addict MV where Val was drawn counting only three dollar bills while sitting in the limo.

I love Angel’s pause when he says “thanks for caring about me” like…he WANTS to say “thanks for trying” but knows that her trying to help made things worse, so the next best thing he can think to say is “thanks for caring about me”
Anyone notice that when Angel was distressed his voice changed into his real voice. Anthony's voice.
He always speaks in his real voice. That was just him speaking lower because as you said, he was distressed. People’s voice naturally gets lower and quieter when we are scared or feel defeated lol. Angel *is* Anthony, same person, 2 sides of the same coin, all that.

this episode really explains Angel Dust's backstory so well, especially when it comes to Val abusing him to no end. it really breaks my heart to pieces to see him suffer so brutally. I wish I could hug Angel tightly for what Val does to him everyday. it brings a tear to my eyes everytime. 🥺😢😭
I was able to watch the other two's reactions, saw them tear up, but gosh damn, Morgan, you had me tearing up something fierce. I am a SA victim from childhood and the fact some people just brush it off as no big deal, and they expect you to be over it and I'm expected to forgive my abuser, because i'm only hurting myself. The worst of it was it was my brother and my mother is pushing for me to have a relationship with him, to forgive him. IT is fucking hard, because there are some people will brush it off and expect you to be over it and it's not that bad. I didn't go through what Angel did, but I think it hurts more that the person I'm supposed to depend on is keeping my abuser in her life and wants me to let him back in, while I was mentally and emotionally abused by another sibling and she never kicked him out like she promised. It is hard, and I guess that's why I like Angel so much. This makes me wish I had a Husker.

This is like my first time watching your reactions, i watch Elijah and Mosco, but i think when you pulled out the fly swatter and had a punching bag OF VAL ON YOUR DESK i lost it HAHAHA new favorite!!
The last line of "Poison" punched me in the soul on a level I cannot describe. The way you reacted physically mirrored my own first time watching. I had held pretty strong through the whole episode but that line broke the dam and I just wept for the rest of it.

I will say, I believe the reason Angel is so flirty is because he's trying to take back control. In the studio, he is helpless, forced into intimacy, but outside - at least when he's in positive company like Husk and the other Hotel patrons - he flirts freely because that's *his* choice; not forced, not coerced, but his decision to flirt with everyone he can, because then at least it's him choosing. It's a very common coping mechanism for people in Angel's shoes.

Husk being an Overlord shows power, and brute force isn't the only way to get to the top. Knowing him, he won and cheated to get as many souls as possible until he had enough to become an overlord, most likely the overlord of gambling. He probably stayed that way until Alastor started his hunt for Overlords, idk if the timeliness would match up, but we'll see. I imagine Alastor killed most overlords but decided Husk and his skill would be more beneficial because my theory is that when someone owns your soul, they gain some if not all your powers and skill to use in both having you at their service but also being able to manifest it, so Alastor can use Husk's sly tongue and skills of trickery to strike up more deals for more souls
Husk died after Alastor, so he wasn't one of the Overlords Alastor defeated when he ended up in Hell. So I think when Husk arrived he just let him be until he saw Husk was desperate and approached him to make a deal (kind of like he tries to make a deal with Charlie at the beginning, and then with Vaggie).

I feel so sick with my old self everytime I see Valentino, I obviously never got to the extent of him but I honestly worry I could've if it wasn't for the fact that I realized I was an abusive person and abused my SO feelings and as such end of the day I refuse to ever be in control in such intimate situations anymore, I always am terrified to turn back into that person. Agreed. It's one thing for someone to outright sh or attempt more drastic things. But to self sabotage or self destruct, just overindulging in things and being unnecessarily risky, specifically because you feel that, ending up severely injured or disfigured or even dead is the only way out of someone's hold is heartbreaking. It's just Angel going 'so be it' or 'fuck it we ball', etc, where he's "having fun" and if something happens, oh well. If he doesn't make it out alive...oh well...
If I remember correctly Vizipop did say that Husk was the most jaded character out of everyone on the show, I hope we get know more about him because he is one of my favorite characters p.

I definitely agree with what you said about Charlie not always being there be able to protect him. I actually discussed that alot with my friend who also loves Angel. Charlie is a sweetheart but her actions can have major consequences for others and could possibly get Vaggie hurt if she's not careful who she deals with.
-Angel was still so gentle with Charlie even when getting her to leave. He didnt push her away, but gently holding her.
-Does Val even have angelic weapons?

Can we take a second to acknowledge how outstanding the voice work is in this episode? Blake did a phenomenal job as Angel. Hopefully, Angel can get out from Val's clutches and be free so he can truly become an angel
Despite how drained you were after the Poison bit it didn't take away from your reaction, I think some of us long time watchers can pick up enough subtleties that helps us see what you're feeling if it doesn't show so plainly.
