Maiden test of India’s first indigenous anti-ship missile.

The DRDO successfully conducted maiden flight test of indigenously developed Naval Anti-Ship Missile launched from Naval Helicopter from ITR, Chandipur today at 0850 hrs. The mission has met all its objectives. It is the first indigenous air launched Anti-ship missile system for Indian Navy.
The missile followed the desired sea skimming trajectory and reached the designated target with high degree of accuracy, validating the control, guidance and mission algorithms. All the sub-systems performed satisfactorily. The sensors deployed across the test range and near impact point tracked the missile trajectory and captured all the events.

55 km range is good for starter , but drdo should really look into extending its range by using Turbo jet engine instead of solid-fuel rocket motor.
Engine could be a problem though,
Nirbhay is already suffering due to that

For longer range there is already air to surface model of Brahamos integrated with su 30mki. This might be option of using economical version that can be used from more aircrafts.

What I am curious about is, what is the aircraft it was launched from?
I see, what I think is a retracted rear landing gear. That's a transport aircraft, I reckon.
