- Using a bean bag forces you to initiate your elbow quickly and wrist snap high. Each time you catch the bean bag check to see if your arm is fully extended and determine if your arm was loose and relaxed throughout the motion. We love this drill because you can literally do this anywhere which means that you can accelerate your learning process outside the gym.

Great tutorial. I made a slight variation by using a tennis ball, which still helps me with memorizing the motion. Question - do you (or should you) execute the same elbow draw when serving overhand?
Sweet! We love a good variation or add on.
So many teach the elbow up float serve (especially in the women’s game). It’s just not how your arm is supposed to work. We love having our arm relaxed in the swoosh position when serving. That relieves tension on the shoulder and then allows for a smooth transition to the contact.

Go slow! Try to make the arm swing 1 minute long. Going through the motion slowly gets the brain to connect with the body better. Be very intentional and aware
