Yes I think Qanba has SOCD cleaner built-in in their boards. Even my cheap Qanba Carbon has it.
pretty impressive!
@@NihongoGamer It's only some of them. If you updated your firmware on your obsidian since the pearl came out, it will have socd built in. The pearl has socd stock.

@@lordshi4887 I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it does not. Just buy the pearl. It's a better stick all around.
@@shinythings7 yea I was looking for a upgrade I wanted to get these mods too. lol it would suck to go to a tournament and get band lol 😂
The arcade controller options are evolving fast.
Yeah. But at the end of the day it’s all preference and comfort.
I played fighting games on keyboard for a very long time…. I switched to a stick around 3 years and I’ve way more comfortable and consistent
@@massterwushu9699 I tried stick too and it was too hard for me! I was awful with wrist movements and would get performance anxiety on online matches lol
@@ajud24 performance anxiety is normal. It just means that you haven’t had enough practice.
Thing like “wake-up DP” are trickier to do on stick, but gets easier with practice. If you really wanna get good at it, give it time. Practice your fireball and dp motions often.
@@massterwushu9699 I did play with a traditional arcade stick many times in the past with different fighting games, but found it much harder to do half circle movements & being consistant with move combos.
Unfortunately my old stick(Hori Arcade Pro 3 - PS3) no longer works properly on PC, due to a faulty USB cable(Power surge error) that's intergrated with the stick itself.
Instead of replacing the cable by opening the stick itself.
I went ahead & bought a Hitbox style controller(Not the official Hitbox controller) & practiced on it for about 6 months by playing different games on it, not just fighting games.
The result, I'm able to execute combos better with all button controller than I did with a lever style fight stick.
Especially for someone who bought their very first Hitbox style button controller, with custom KOF XV artwork on it & I love it! :D
this is my first video of yours and seeing the name "Nihongo gamer" i was NOT expecting that thick british accent
Now we just need an arcade joystick with a top button and triggers
Ultimarc has a flight stick joystick with exactly that, although it's massive
@@CGoody5642 yeah! I've seen it and i would love to try it out, altough i don't know if it need to be programmed, or if i could just change the literal stick, buttons to other joystick innards
The same day I found a very similar product on Etsy, except 3d printed housings, you make a video on this kind of product. That's fantastic, this looks very interesting. Love the vids keep up the great work!
That's from a great dude called LayerShift, and it's called the Odin fyi. Awesome product, although it doesn't have the thumb module (you could make/wire your own module, but it wouldn't be as clean and may not be tournament legal unless you deactivate the normal up key)
I brought the Cardimod+ last week and although I absolutely love the product and its build quality, before you buy please be warned that it is not compatible with all fight sticks. When in correspondence with the company they told me that all I would need to do for my Mayflash F500 would be to buy a 5pin connector to plug into my board and that would be compatible with the Cardimod+. When I asked for help regarding the keys not registering I was told to open the device and re-do the wiring of the Cardimod+ effectively removing any chance for me to return the product if I messed it up. The Cardimod+ is only compatible with the fight sticks listed on the website, I can confirm this after testing it out with my friends sticks who all owned different sticks. In the image where it tells you what side to plug in the 5pin connector on the website it will say "and others" at the bottom but this is a lie. Great product, misleading marketing
Good thing you said something. I wasn't too sure since my Razer xbox fightstick wasnt listed
Did you ever get it working?? I just bought one and I've got the same stick ☹️
@@specialk8914 No its just not possible without doing significant modifications to it. Fortunately I'm not strapped for cash and just ended up buying the hori rap 4 kai which is a compatible fight stick
@@llMavenll it actually should work with the Razer Atrox Xbox stick, since that uses a jlf lever to begin with and has a 5 pin wiring connection. The Mayflash has each individual switch wired with a separate direction and ground wire with no 5 pin connection (as opposed to all of the grounds being daisy-chained and having a 5 pin connection), which poses some issues with modding it specifically. Same goes for the 8bitdo stick. However, it SHOULD work with a Mayflash Elites since they use a real JLF and 5 pin connection; just not the non-elites.
@@CGoody5642 Thanks for the info. Just trying to see if its worth paying 84$
10:47 take it from someone with too much keyboard gaming experience, you'll want to move your index finger to the down arrow and your middle finger up for faster inputs such as this. You may sacrifice moving right, but your index is generally fast enough in this setting to make it back. It is less harmful to the hands long term as opposed to moving the middle finger in the same way.
Qanba released an SOCD cleaning update sometime in the last year or two. I know version 1.18 has it, not sure if other firmware versions do. So if it's a newer Obsidian or you updated the firmware that's why the SOCD cleaning works.
This is how people should do product videos. People need to learn from you XD.
The fact that it cost like $30 to ship is rediculous you should have mentioned something like that in the video LMAO
Yes the Qanba obsidian has SOCD cleaning and you're understanding of the the SOCD tournament rules is correct.
basically every modern game has SOCD built into them as well, older titles don't always and you may need a hardware solution.
very interesting im a huge fan of hitbox style and i get the concept, but it would be terrible for tekken lol doing a kbd on a hitbox with gamerfingers is so easy since you can plink off the side of the button really easily but i could see my fingers bleeding if i tried that on a mixbox style
ah okay
as i was eyeing these you just HAAAD to make a video :P
def buying mine right now before they sell out!
kind of concerned about the adhesive tho. taking the button mod off seems kind of hard and makes it hard for switching back and forth between the Cardimod buttons and the lever just in case you feel like playing with the other kind of controller
Check out the ODIN by Omni Arcade then. It doesn't have the extra up button extension but it's the original drop-in WASD conversion using a threaded design instead, and it uses lower profile choc switches.
Always enjoy coming to see what new and wacky tech you've been delivered! :) Good review! Something I might look into for myself in my exploratory controller future.
What an interesting product! I’ll have to look into it, seems neat!
I wish I knew about this before buying the Snackbox Micro, the jump button at the bottom is absolutely killing me and I also find the down button too high in which keyboard arrows would have left down right on a straight line.
You could sell it and see if you can get a mix box. Which is the same thing like this. You could also get this if you have another stick.
@@lordshi4887 I am still using the original SF4 TE stick, never had to replace any parts for 10+ years.
I bought one of those just a few weeks ago. It's wonderful and I can at least play my usual fighting games just fine with it (lately Strive and SCVI).
Also, I think your safest replacement for the thumbup is something the size of maybe Capslock, Tab, or Shift keycaps. One of those should fit just fine with the stabilizers.
He should just ditch the thumb button. You can't have 2 buttons with the same input in most tournaments including T7's and CPT's. Which means you either gotta have the hitbox layout with jump on the bottom or the W on top. Crossup is a different thing because it's not 2 buttons it's a stick and a button just like the traditional controllers so it's accepted (I don't agree with this sht either, they both should be fine).
Regardless, using a controller that's banned is just a waste of time and effort. I do wish we were able to have that since for going around menus clicking on the thumb to go up is not intuitive.
@@robinv1485 agreed. Either he swaps to the 3-button thing (there's a plate that has the 3 buttons only, no up/+Thumbup or go full WASD
I'm waiting for the first company/manufacturer/modder to release a viable product that replaces the stick with a good, slippy D-pad, like in the original Sony PSP.
The PSP's D-pad was glass-like and better than the PS3's DualShock D-pad, since the latter's directional buttons were to grippy/sticky (I always wrapped my thumb over my T-shirt to be faster with DP or QFC movements).
The PS4's DualShock D-pad is "flatter" than the PS3's and hence had good (== low) friction, but was much bigger than the PS3 or PSP D-pads, hence it wasn't perfect.
The perfect D-pad, IMHO, is the PSP's. I'd like to see a D-pad on a handle-like construct that's screwed in place where the stick ususally goes.
I imagine the D-pad is slightly "elevated" due this kinda "handle-like" construct, compared with the level of the buttons (which are practically surface level).
One can dream, right?
Hey NG, from what I can tell the keycap you're looking for is PROBABLY a Backspace, which would be a 2u, you can look up 'XDA Convex Spacebar 2u' and get what you're looking for. It might be a 1.75 or a 2.25u but if you can confirm that your Backspace fits, that's a 2u. If that Jump fits your left-shift, that's 2.25u.
oh cool! Great to know what to search for when ordering parts!
you can replace the w keycapwith the right shift keycap from keyboard, since its bigger wider keycap it covers the width of asd keys which means when holding down you can use ring or index finger for up without letting go of down
Keyboard master race
Just found this channel I really love it! Keep up the good work looking forward to more videos 😁
Doing 360 motions seems like it would be damn hard with the WASD layout.
Can't imagine preferring this over a stick. It looks super cool though.
This is super cool.
I own both a mix and hitbox. I always wondered how it would feel to combine both.
Thanks man! 👊🏼😎
When it comes to leverless conversions, there really is 2 options.. a new metal panel+cover or going with something like the odin, t-spin, and cardimod. I'm honestly surprised there isn't a conversion with standard buttons in mind...
this video got me saved form getting embarrased on a tekken tournament
Gotta get that flash d*** kick out asap 12:42
Would be interested if they could make a version with the spacebar attached with the cable being covered. I like the idea of this for a Panthera Evo mod since I own that stick, and it doesn't have a good way to mod it into a stickless controller without heavy modding. But that dangling wire really isn't a good look.
I've been using the spacebar attachment for 20 minutes and you really don't notice that the cable is there! Aesthetically it doesn't look great but it's a fun mod.
This wasn't the most gamer thing I have ever seen but it made the top 5
5:07 oh a sticky pad? Thats a tad more perminant than I expected.
Hie dear nihongoGamer Any news about gamerfinger?
I wasn't fast enough to get an Odin but I'm gonna slap these babies in my Mayflash F500 elite.......for platformers 😅
You don't have to be fast enough to get an Odin; you sign up for a wait-list and they email you when your spot in line comes up.
@@CGoody5642 But how long does it take? I signed up 2 weeks ago, no word yet.
Great video, really glad I found your channel.
Like you mention, you're doing a 270° if you stop at the 'up' input. SFV allows that same shortcut on the 720° input as well. You can get the super move with a 610°-- drop the last 'up' input and it's significantly easier.
you can actually do a 540
Idk why you were recommended to me, but I’m glad you were.
Do you own the ODIN Drop In Fightpad? If you do, can you make a comparison video? I'm leaning towards the cardimod since it is available.
So I'm super broke (between jobs) but once I can score a decently priced arcade stick I could just buy THIS and not have to worry about importing a mixbox? :D
As a keyboard player I prefer the WASD setup (and I generally refuse to play grapplers & charge characters anyway) so I don't really need the extra space bar but I'd love some portability so I could take a thing with me to say play vs someone on playstation 4 or go to a friend who is also a keyboard player and could just hook up an arcade stick with this mod and neither of us would have to suffer on a pad.
I guess I'll look into this and (probably used) arcade sticks in the near future, once I have steady income again.
Hmmm now I'm not sure if I want a wasd stick or the jump thumb version of fight sticks
This looks like a good idea. I have just bought a wasd hitbox with 24mm buttons, and the 'f' and 'b' cardinals feel too far apart. Even doing simple things such as Devil Jin's b,f+2,1,2 is a bit if a hassle.
For aggressive big hands players I find STICKLESS controller less moving more accurate in inputs
Now I just need one of these that is in the layout of most button box controllers
Why I got a mixbox rather than a hitbox. Mixbox takes more skill to use.
What if you rotated the thumb button to be parallel with the thumb of your left, it would rest just under your thumb. This would get it out of the way of your right hand. But I wonder if that would put too much strain on the wire?
finallyyyyyyyyy so nice!
How do we solve the wrist rest position? I rest my hand on my stick! Would love to know your solution!
Found ur post on discord and answered there :)
I'm just waiting for the hitbox directions with a ps4 controller for the other buttons
Like... Half a PS4 controller wired/attached to a half a button box? Lmao. I've seen an image of something like that, although I don't know if it's real or it's a meme; if it is real, it's definitely custom work.
edit: It was a website error; they fixed it.

Hey guys, i wanted to ask you, i recently started to play on a fightstick, and i noticed that my pinky hurts after i play with it(it makes sense since i basically never use it), ¿but is it normal? I started to eat much better lately and i feel overall much healthier(i discovered that arthritis and similar diseases have much to do with unhealthy eating habits rather than only bad posture or not stretching, altough i started to do that too, and i feel much better), but i still wonder, is this something that happends usally? Should i be worried? Or will my pinky just become stranger by playing?(of course, i don't continue playing if i start feeling weird about that finger, but it lefts me wondering)
Normal stick or button box/mixbox?
@@CGoody5642 normal stick, buy my problems are in the right hand with the buttons
Hello John!
This is very normal to experience when first getting used to a fightstick or button box style controller, as your pinky finger likely just isn't used to being used as much as it is when playing on a fightstick. I didn't have any issue with my right pinky when switching to a stick in particular, but when I switched over to a Hitbox controller for fighting games I had a lot of discomfort in my left ring finger, since I'm right handed it was definitely not used to the workout.
But it is something that goes away after getting used to the controller more!
I also switched over to using a box style controller for Smash Bros. and that's even more of an adjustment since those controllers actually use the left pinky for an input, which will be the weakest finger for a right-handed user.
But it's just something you have to get used to with the layout :)
@@vorpalmatt2635 thanks for sharing your experience
I'm suffering from gamers thumb form xbox controller. Lots of RUclips videos on it, but basically lots of stretching the hands and stop the activity causing the pain until the muscles get built up. Now I'm looking for these box controllers since my thumb hurts so much from playing MK11 and pressing Dpad to hard. Now I have to do lots of stretching exercises. Check out YT videos about this. hope it helps.
It would be really nice if they were low profile switches so there would be less of a height difference and low profile key caps too. But then I’m guessing they wouldn’t be hot swap able
what if insted of sticky pads had magnet
Hey, you. Your rule. I could listen to you all day! You in any podcasts?
Not regularly. I’ve done a few interviews here and there :)
Interesting idea, but I don't like the way it looks or the attachment system with sticky surfaces, also it feels like if you accidentally move the keys holder you'll break the input connectors.
Those flatter and thin designed controllers look fascinating! What are they and where do you get them?
I have videos on them. One is the MPress, the other is the Snack Box Micro :)
wow this is nice
Im sold, omi arcade had me in the waiting list since may 7 :(
Where can I get one of these?? I can’t find this or the Odin online anywhere
It’s like turning the stick into mixbox, can you do easy flashkick or sonic boom on this?
Ive got a custom mix-box being built for me and it has the WASD on an angle with a space bar that is also angled when it arrives ill let you know how it is.
Im transitioning from hibox agyer feeling their design is not optimal for Mishima players.
I was going to get this, but the only shipping option they had for me was a $30 express shipping, making the total price $80 for the Cardimod and the jump button add-on... That's almost the same amount of money I paid for the stick I wanted to mod this on the first place ($90 8bitdo Arcade Stick). I think i'll just wait until the MPress is in stock.
Do you have a link to the website?
Real talk, I might actually get this for my stick.
Neat!
I wish it was screwed in. I've not ascended to having several arcade sticks. I just got the one, and the idea of being able to swap between different movement buttons/sticks sounds appealing. But obviously can't do that if it uses adhesive. ):
Look up the Odin drop in mod from LayerShift. There's no thumb module, but I believe it does screw in (it's a 3d printed version of this, existed long before this came out). There's a wait-list to get one, but I didn't have to wait all that long back when I ordered mine.
Is the fight stick worth getting for the Nintendo switch and can you use it for smash brother's?
Lol.
Price of a full keyboard for each part.
Should see what it comes up to in total
That's not including shipping, which costs as much as each individual piece. One of the reasons I'm not a huge fan of ASIndo in general, and I say this as one who owns their overpriced/overrated lever, case, and almost every part they've ever produced besides this and their new asymetrical gates.
Keyboards get way more pricy than arcade sticks lol. I like arcade stick modding as it's one of the cheaper hobbies, and really enjoyable
I recently damaged the radial nerve of my left arm/hand so I've been having trouble with traditional joysticks. My index finger and thumb are still weak but hitbox style feels less demanding of my limp wrist at least.. I'm just glad I have all these different controller options!
BTW yes the Obsidian does have built-in SOCD, but I think you need to update the firmware on older ones. Also, some games already handle the SOCD on their own.

Isn't cross up box tournament Legal?
why adding additional space bar without enclosing cardimod W key not legal ?
The only reason I don’t like it bc it’s not easily removable
I'm not the biggest fan of asindo. How quickly they redesigned the VS case left a sour taste in my mouth after buying the original, their golden lever and accessories are overrated (imo) unless you have specific customization dimensions/layout in mind (I say this as one who owns literally all of the GL parts and gates aside from the new asymetrical gates) and shipping costs so much due to using DHL international.
You could also accomplish a similar thing by using LayerShifts 3d printed wasd mod, and splicing extra wires to up and ground and wiring them to a key switch in a base with a sticky pad attached, although obviously it wouldn't look as clean in the end and wouldn't be tournament legal unless you deactivated the normal up key, although using a buttonbox is probably the more optimal solution to begin with. I just can't being myself to pay as much or more for shipping for the cardimod+ and module as it costs for each piece to begin with, although it clearly has it's place.
I have a question. I want buy Hori Alpha Stick for my XBOX, and put CardiMod WASD instead of lever, but there is originally 6 pin connector connected to 5 pin lever. Hello,
How strong is that adhesive? Would it be easy to remove if you'd want to switch back to leaver or install on to different arcade stick?
Yeah I was wondering that as well as this is a little bit cheaper than the OMNI Odin but with the Odin, it looks to be much easier to swap around sticks compared to this.
It is relatively strong. It holds enough to stay stable on the stick, and may take a little bit of force to remove.
Of course, the more you stick and unstick the weaker the adhesive gets, but ASI does sell pre-cut adhesive replacements for it should you need them IIRC

Is tournament allowed to have 2 different buttons for direction?
This is a weird grey zone at the moment.
