Hi GP! Before I moved to Virginia 2 years ago, I lived in VT. Owning a sub-compact tractor with a snowblower, another thing I used to do was position a small piece of 2x4 under each skid shoe when parking. This prevents it from freezing to the ground, and collecting that occasional chunk of frost that'll build on the bottom where it contacts the ground when not used for some time. I really enjoy your videos, take care!

Hey Gord, it's good to see you blowing snow in 2WD. It just goes to show that nothing beats a good set of chains. My Kubota doesn't even have 4WD but I have good chains like yours and I run a snowblower in 2WD with no issues even though I've heard numerous people say you "need" 4WD over the years. Also, my tractor is about the same hp as yours and I run a 68" blower. It does fine like yours. More hp lets you blow snow at faster speeds but the smaller hp tractors still get the job done.
I have an M5 and 3/4 mile driveway after 5 years I found the best thing is a 12' tow behind wheeled scraper. It doesn't gouge the road and mess up the gravel. The snow builds up to form a wedge that pushes the snow off to the sides like a v plow. I also use a 3 point 7' rake to groom the gravel.
GP, you are becoming my mentor! Thanks for your videos. I’m all new to all these things, large driveway, multiple acreage, firewood sourcing... I love your videos.

That is one nice set up you have there. The cab is certainly a Must have for snow blowing. My Plow has a heated cab but my blower is open rops and I got a face full this afternoon clearing up around my place. Next time I'm using the plow...lol.
Hi G.P. I'm jealous that cab looks great, nice and toasty and you brought coffee. If I had that everyones driveway would be cleaned. Thanks for sharing have a great weekend
Yep, spot on with the cold blower. My Deere is in an unheated garage, but I get a little sticking on side where exhaust is blowing on snow blower housing. Not bad enough to worry about though. And the best accessory in a heated cab= a coat hook. LOL
Ahh, tractor therapy in a heated cab. It doesn't get much better than that my friend. Glad you finally got back up to the peace and quiet of your property. Keep well.
I'm not sure why people are complaining about HP on your blower. Snowblowers don't really have a solid requirement for HP. If your rpms dip to low, just slow down some. I would be more concerned with how the tractor handles the weight. It looks like a good setup to me. (Despite the orange paint...) Hope you are enjoying!! On a different note, I installed a WiFi plug in my barn for the tractor block heater. Super nice to be able to turn on the heater while I'm at work, and the tractor is warm before I get home. While it's not needed, it definitely is nice, and was cheaper than the electric of leaving it on waiting for a storm.
LOL! Morning and thanks for the great tip! I have an extra wifi plug but not sure if it can take the cold temperatures out there. I might give it a try. Have a good week!
Gordon, when we are swiveling that chute around and up and down, we ARE just PLAYING with it! I know, 'cause I do exactly the same thing. It is the feeling of POWER under my fingers. And it is a great way to work off anger/frustration/hostility in a harmless manner. When there is no snow, I sometimes go out with the FEL and rear blade, moving some dirt around for the same reason. I always sleep better after abusing some snow or dirt during the day.
Hello Gord I had a Tektite Cab on the quote for my BX2380 with the commercial blower. I changed my mind trying to save money and what a mistake! We started to get snow early in November last year and being near Lake Superior we seem to always have west winds and squalls. I tried to tough it out without a cab and that only lasted a few weeks before I called the dealer and ordered one up. It was going to have heat, windshield wiper and front and rear LED floodlights. My mom in her nineties hated to see me freezing out there and agreed we needed a cab. I blow the driveways for two elderly ladies across from moms house and two other neighbours and there is always a north or west wind and I would get buried in snow and my glasses would fog and build up with ice! The first time I blew the snow into the wind one morning the windshield filled with snow dust and I remembered I had a wiper and when I hit the switch I laughed at the wind as the wiper cleared the snow that was melting on the heated cab! This past weekend I spent 3 hours on Saturday and 3 1/2 hours on Sunday cleaning out driveways. The Tektite cab was a charm! We got dumped on pretty good in the Soo and the city plows left a 3’ high plow pile at the end of the driveway. The BX2380 handled it no problem. I cleared the driveways once only to see the plow truck make another run and fill the driveways again. No problem I was relaxing in my BX2380 in a heated cab!
Morning O- what a great story. So happy you were able to get the cab! Especially up there in the Sault. I can only imagine how nasty those winds coming off the lakes are for you but having the cab is a game changer. LOL. I had to laugh about the windshield wiper - I did the same thing so many times - I kept forgetting I had one and keep driving with water and snow dripping down the windshield. Congrats on the cab and great to hear you are able to help other folks with the tractor and keep them clear and safe. Cheers!
Thanks Jim here from NS. Weather man says 30 to 50 cm. of snow tonight into monday morning. Now that I have watched you it inspired me to go get my snowblower ready to do battle. Stay safe in Ontario.
Hey buddy having that cab is so nice not having to be out in the elements and that'll snow blower is so nice i can't see why people think it to big for your motor sounds like it's having no problem blowing that snow and even in deeper snow I'm sure it's no problem on that motor what a great snow blower. I worked at Wayne State University and i would of loved if we would of had a snow blower like that to use in some areas where a plow was very hard to use do to being so narrow and could of throw the snow off some of the walkways and in other areas. Sitting in that cab is so nice and I'm sure your nice and warm makes that job so much nicer and even relaxing. Love your Kubota tractor and that snow blower. Thanks for the video buddy. Love it.
Good video cab's are not cheap to buy but if you blow snow they are a must our international has no cab and blew snow for years and then we bought a old Massey 165 with a cab I think you know witch one we use now thanks for sharing take care
While my tractor is in a garage, it is a detached garage with no heat. The snow will stick depending on how wet the snow is. In ny case, thanks for the video. I love your snow blower and wish I could put it on my B2650. Glad to see you are in a heated cab. Makes for enjoyable snow removal. I have an issue with my snowblower, with the bottom cutting edge coming off! Will call the dealer tomorrow.
@@GPOutdoors The cutting edge needed to be replaced and was replaced by the dealer today. I've been using the snowblower a lot ad between last year and this year, well, it just wrote out. Cutting edges are a lot cheaper than a new snowblower!
As I sit here with a crick in my neck and shoulders from looking backwards for 2 hours, I'm envious of the cab and front-mounted blower! :-) Despite the pain, I understand your enjoyment and I call my time on the tractor my Zen time as I don't worry about anything else. Thanks for the video, GP.
I love watching these types of videos. Very relaxing. I understand the need and efficiency for a blower but I’m definitely a plow guy with my tractor for various reasons.
What a beautiful day for movin some snow, GP. We will be mostly snow free for the next week mostly because the polar vortex came to visit. -22° F (-30° C) this morning. No cab = no tractor time for me! Cheers!
Hello GP, yes, I'm one of those who keeps his Kubota in the garage. We have pack rats and rabbits here in central Oregon that will eat vehicle wiring (they have chewed through the electrical harness twice on our Honda CRV (now kept in the garage as well). Also, I've been told that the orange Kubota color will fade fast if you keep it out in the weather along with your seat rotting.
Well honestly where I am from we got the last couple storms. Even better was the fact that we recently took delivery of our LX3310 and LX2980! I have plowed snow for the last 30 years in either open station tractors with an old cable lift and spring trip plow or on ROPS with no cab skidsteers with a bucket. I have moved a ton of snow with those machines. BUT having a nice warm cab is the way to go!!!! In fact after the last storm I was blowing snow and it blew back onto the cab and covered it super quick melted fast with the cab being warm. But I was laughing at the fact that that nasty snow didn't get me in the face. To those who think you need the bigger tractor for the blower...I HAVE the bigger tractor and it will make the exact same sounds if I push it into heavy snow too fast. The dealer is totally correct, just back down the travel speed and/or take a less aggressive amount in the path. Keep on, keepin on GP!!!
LOL! That was a great story to hear. Congrats on getting the cab. I think you paid your dues and certainly earned it. :)) Thanks for the info on the blower and noises - helps alot. Enjoy the new tractor and blower. Have a great week!
I have same tractor and blower set up. What helps me with power output is making sure air filter not getting clogged with snow. May have to move the snorkel to prevent snow build up. Also I find medium gear most efficient vs low gear for some reason. Hope this helps cheers!
Good morning Damian. Thanks for the good info. I will check out medium range and see how it runs. I have heard a few folks get snow back in the air filter and I will have to check that. I never had that trouble on the old 2601 but I haven't checked this one. Thanks!
Good afternoon Gord, sure enjoyed your video. Good to see you getting your money’s worth out of the new tractor and CAB, does help on days like that. Going to check out the store. You all be safe up there. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred. 👍👍👏🏻👏🏻
Great introduction GP seeing your underneath of your nice tractor 👍😊 Great Snowblower in Live Action 👍 GP it is very funny, I made a video today about the same subject 🤣 I guess that WE the Canadian's we like to think around not only Hockey but snowblower TOO 🤣👍😊 Great Video GP and Keep Warm Cheers !!!
We got that nor-easter a week ago. Not easy to manage snow windrows when the winds are not typical. If one day I have a cab tractor, that will be because you inspired me to have one! Thanks!
@@GPOutdoors That is a video idea for you Joe. We can watch you build a cab and I can try copying your design. Lol. I'd like to build one for my tractor that I can use a gantry or something and pick it off in the summer. That way the windows don't get smashed from the trees, plus it makes it easier with the backhoe. I really appreciate all of you creators.
Another Informative video Gord. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that tractor blower pairing. It sounds and performs exactly like mine. Said no tractor owner ever "my tractor has too much HP"... Could the B2650 and your LX2610 which are the same machine use more HP for snow...probably. Tractors require HP for two major types of work. Corn, and snow. At the end of the day the extra HP allows you to move the same amount of snow more quickly. For guys like ourselves who arn't using it to do a run of 200 driveways where time is a factor, and using it for personal use only, we simply have to take our foot off the peddle and go a little slower in the deep or heavy stuff to get the same job done. Worse case scenario is we have to spend an extra 10 min in a heated cab listening to the radio in a beautiful setting loving life.
LOL! Good day Bota! Thanks - some good points for sure, and now with the heat, I am ok sticking around out there a little longer. :)) Cheers and all the best!
GP you miss the face washings on a windy day like that. I said wear a snowmobile helmet you got a new tractor with cab. I think you got it right. Cheers
Wait, folks are suggesting that blower is too big for your tractor? Not! lol Down here in the south I have to spray silicone inside my blower because the snow is much wetter and sticks to everything. Wet snow makes all the difference. Always enjoy your vids, thanks for posting.
Most users do not run the tractor engine at WOT or above 80% wot to ensure the best blower shaft speed. That speed has the biggest effect on discharge. FYI, that blower looks to be performing very well. I really like that chute setup...
@@brianjenkins3133 If you always run at the RPMsetting for the attachment you will not be breaking equipment as often. Over reving and torque strain is the most common abuse and reakdown of PTO equipment. that kubota and Front mount Blower are sized ok. Mine Is a Duetz AgroPlus 100 with a 8ft Mckee 3 stage hydraulic drive front mount..... throws it like majic 60 to 80ft
GP, thanks for explaining everything as we all can't read the comments like the producer. However I am amazed when someone says 'that implement is too big...". If the engine gets bogged down you can always reduce the speed and get thru. I think a lot of people are more concerned about going fast to look cool, or what is it? And you should only have a problem in the heaviest of snow.
LOL. Good day David! I agree- nothing fast about a tractor - its not like plowing with a truck. But I am glad I checked into it - now I know. Have a great weekend!
Love the videos, if you are happy with what you have that is all that matters. We would love to have a bigger tractor but right now that does not work for us so that is why we have a BX, it works for us. Tractor on from west central Illinois
Thankz for getting out of the cab to do camera placements! I have cheap chains that must be to tight? They sit in-between the bars not really doing much? Do i need to add Links so they will cross over the bars?
Good day Mike - Thanks. I understand the chain should have about 4" of slop or slack generally (I think mine are on too tight) but if the chains are falling in-between the treads then perhaps you have standard regular link chains? I understand that is the challenge with them, so I buy a pattern chain (H pattern or box pattern). If you have a set of regular cross chains then I am not aware of anyway of stopping them from falling in-between the treads. Sorry I could not be of more help. Good luck!
If there is an attachment that can suck up horsepower it's a blower. Snow consistency and sometimes depth determines how hard your tractor will work. I have a much higher horsepower tractor with a 74" front blower and drifted snow especially works the tractor hard. Just go slower and keep the rpm where you want it.
2 weeks not on the tractor, wow, you must have been going crazy, lol! Another great video! Finally got a good snowfall in Northern WI, 9 to 11" last Thurs/Fri. My new B2601w/BX2822A 55 got its 1st good snowblowing work out. All went good blowing 3 driveways and 1/2 mile road. With no cab, I did have to come in to warm up and change gloves. Thanks again for all your info!
That's great you were able to get it out there Jeff! Happy to hear it worked well for you. Yup that cold can get down into your bones sometime. I used to use the exhaust pipe to warm my hands sometimes. Take care and all the best!
With a paved driveway, I opted for an HLA 1000 blade with hydraulic angling on my new LX2610. I had an MK Martin 3 point blower on my BX1860. The front blade has been great, except for a storm with over a foot in one night. I've ordered a WoodMaxx SB-60 for the rear of the LX to use for the deeper snows, but expect to continue mostly using the blade to scrape down to the pavement. We have a long, steep driveway up to where the house and barn are. Paving wasn't cheap, but being able to scrape down to the pavement and letting the sun dry it has been great.
Morning folks. It sounds like a great setup for your needs there Dan and Faith. Plus you get to keep your FEL on the tractor through the winter in case you need the bucket or grapple etc. Nice!
I think most folks concerns about the blower size wasn't so much how it did on your last snow. It was based on the observation that if it bogs down the tractor that much with the tiny bit of snow you've had so far, what is it going to do if you get a REAL snow? You know, 15-24 inches of heavy stuff as deep as your blower housing is high. That's when you really find out how the drive train handles it. The snow you've had so far could be handled by a garden tractor. I live in N.E. USA and there are times we have snow that is up to my thighs and it really can push equipment to the limits.
It is about -8C here and I was out cutting firewood. Open station tractors are pretty cold on a day like today, I was using the L3901DT to haul the logs from where I cut the tree to my shed to block the up and split them. Took a little while to get the splitter to start. Need to look in to a electric starter :-). Would have been nice to have a cab like you have on your LX2610. We had just a dusting of snow last night. Like you always say, be safe out there!
Here in Minnesota, we only got about 3.5" of snow. We got strong winds, though. Woke up Sunday morning to -19°F. Less windy, too. No temps above 0°F in our 10 day forecast.
@@jh9855 You get used to it. I actually enjoy working in cold and snow. My joints are not very fond of it these days. My dream vacation would be camping and fly fishing in Maine.
@@keithnavarro2930 I too like the cold and snow, but honestly, -19 is a bit cold. About 30 years ago, we had a December where we could not shake the cold. The high temps we like 5 degrees and lows -15. Of course I had just purchased an experimental Pitt S1C (single seat airplane), And my good husband flew it back to Maine. I did not know the airplane had no heat so his cross country from Arkansas to Maine was quite the trip. We also did not know where the compass is located is in front of a metal bar. Yup, I owed that man many good steak diners and beers.

Keep tractoring GP, enjoy the nice hot cup of coffee my friend!
Cheers Seather!
LOL! Pete - you're letting out the secrets!!..:) It is kind of fun...Cheers!
Cheers!
Great job nice winter having fun
Another great video. Have a fantastic week. Cheers!
Thanks very much Thompson!
Keep that snow blown GP, God Bless!
I have the same tractor/blower setup (minus the cab :( ) I love it!
Thanks Jim here from NS. Weather man says 30 to 50 cm. of snow tonight into monday morning. Now that I have watched you it inspired me to go get my snowblower ready to do battle. Stay safe in Ontario.
Good luck Jim! Have fun out there!
Love it.
I sure love my cab
G P fun in the snow we have had snow afewtimes still waiting
God Bless All
PaK
Hello from Connecticut. My friend good job 👏
Thanks for the video GP, its was well done.
Good day Jean. I have not heard of that before. Hope it is an easy fix for you. Good luck with it and stay warm and safe!
Oh man - sorry about the neck Ian. Hopefully a little liquid painkiller and a relaxing evening will do the trick. Have a great week out there!
I love watching these types of videos. Very relaxing. I understand the need and efficiency for a blower but I’m definitely a plow guy with my tractor for various reasons.
Thanks Cap'n!
What a beautiful day for movin some snow, GP. We will be mostly snow free for the next week mostly because the polar vortex came to visit. -22° F (-30° C) this morning. No cab = no tractor time for me! Cheers!
Yowsa! try to stay warm Michael!
Love your videos. Greetings from North Wales in U.K. 👍🏴
Awesome! Cheers!
7,285 views in 14 hrs congrats great view from cab
Thanks Frankie!
Aahhhh, I don't know about you GP? But I'm looking forward to snowblower season again.
:))
Looks fun (and warm in the cab!). It might be time for a 6' extension on the tractor garage to cover the blower!
Morning Cliff! Some great points for sure - If I had one - she'd be in there for sure. Cheers!
I use a winter grease during the winter.
Another great video
Nothing like being inside when you are blowing snow. Nice tractor
Hey good day TPG! Hope you are keeping well out there. Thanks for saying hi!
Welcome back, thought maybe you had gotten lost. Not many videos posted the last few days and I've been wearing my thumbs out
LOL! Good day Don. Got some stuff keeping me away lately but hopefully back to normal soon. :)) Have a good one and thanks for checking in!
Thanks!
Had 25" in Eastern PA. Was really a heavy snow. Thankfully the ventrac ate all of it. I can see a machine with a cab on it in the near future.
Ha, at 10 minutes you answered my question. Thank you sir!
Good afternoon Gord, sure enjoyed your video. Good to see you getting your money’s worth out of the new tractor and CAB, does help on days like that. Going to check out the store. You all be safe up there. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred. 👍👍👏🏻👏🏻
Good day Fred! It sure feels good being sheltered and warm. :)) Thanks!
Nice set up ❄️☃️🚜👍👏
great vid
Good information.
Looks like it's doing a good job to me GP. Wet snow is always harder to move so you slow down and take your time. Another great video!
Thanks Ranger!
Morning Dave. Hope you are keeping warm! Supposed to be cold all week. Take care!
@@GPOutdoors Yes Sir, both wood stove are in full swing !!!! You too do take care !!! Cheers !!!
We got that nor-easter a week ago. Not easy to manage snow windrows when the winds are not typical. If one day I have a cab tractor, that will be because you inspired me to have one! Thanks!
Morning Joe! I would like nothing better than to see you sitting warm and comfy in a cab soon. Cheers!
:)) Cheers and all the best!
cheers
GP you miss the face washings on a windy day like that. I said wear a snowmobile helmet you got a new tractor with cab. I think you got it right. Cheers
LOL! Well it is kind the same....sort of.:)) Thanks David!
Very enjoyable content, thanks.
Wait, folks are suggesting that blower is too big for your tractor? Not! lol
Down here in the south I have to spray silicone inside my blower because the snow is much wetter and sticks to everything. Wet snow makes all the difference.
Always enjoy your vids, thanks for posting.
Thanks!
Play and playing with the shutter, that’s what I do!
LOL!
I always find the guys that offer horsepower advise are usually the ones that have never ran a piece of equipment.
That's the truest statement I've seen today
100% correct!!!
I’m definitely getting those tire chains for my JD 2038r. Awesome video good job.
Cheers Chad! Best of luck!
GP has an awesome snowblower and I am jealous.
Always a great job with your videos...the right amount of footage and commentary!
Thanks Andy! Cheers!
Got to remember diesels like to work. So a big blower to tax the tractor from time to time helps counter all the easy firewood carrying it does.
Love the videos, if you are happy with what you have that is all that matters. We would love to have a bigger tractor but right now that does not work for us so that is why we have a BX, it works for us. Tractor on from west central Illinois
Cheers Curt!
That’s a beauty rig, eh? No doot aboot it!
Getting about 6 inch in mass today enjoy the Super Bowl😎😎
Good luck!
For chain lubrication I always use salad oil. Waterprotektion is very important.
I’ve been out a couple of times in the past few days moving snow and that cab would sure be nice! That was a wise investment. 👍🏼
Thanks for the great advice John. Take care!
Nice!
Great footage. Would have liked to see you do a little snow scraping also. If you have a video showing that let me know please.
Stay warm!
Thats the differance between drinking 1 mug of hot coffee or 4 mugs, you just go real slow.
Thanks for the content
Wow - that's cold!
YIKES! I'm in Maine, please keep your temps in Minnesota!
