Stumbled upon this old video - have an Orange PPC212OB loaded with the usual V30s, but I play bedroom levels and this cab is both too boomy and too forward, and it can sound overly bright. I have a Victory amp so this is an experiment: I just ordered a paid of Midnight 60s. Will be interesting to hear the difference - especially at low volumes in a room that's small. Hopefully the 4db lower sensitivity will make a difference to how much I can crank the amp, which has always felt weak where I needed the master vol....
Damn that midnight is great. Smokey is a good term. I can bring anything into it to brighten it up, but the likes of the V30 or any other speaker with that background buzzsaw noise, I can not get into, or tame. I just grabbed four of these. Thanks!
Great demo. The differences really became apparent with the overdrive & distortion sounds. The Midnight 60 sounds really good and might be the upgrade for one of my amps.
To me, the key attraction, other than the light weight and scooped tone, is the lower efficiency- I put one in my Fender Bassbreaker 30R, and it really sounds great at low to medium volumes, but also high volumes, as well. The difference is, I now turn the volume knob on the amp up higher, and get more mojo from the tubes, because it doesn’t get so loud so fast, like the heavy magnet speakers. This one weighs a couple pounds less than a Greenback G12M-25, and half as much as a V30. It’s more transparent, really. I dig it!
The low efficiency is exactly why I am interested in this model. It is also light weight, so it should not just be more silent, but also sound better at lower volumes than other speakers.
Sounds Omazing. This is a very cutting and a louder speaker in a mix also versus the V30. It has that more modern kajonka glassy smoothness like a FANE F70 or as smoky as any webers and sweeter with celestion british grit i love the thing for metal also. Here is the metalz 3:51 Listen to it on the slide totally impressive 2:42
Alot of people remove this speaker from their origin 50 combos in favor of creamback M65s Ceeamback H75s and celestion V type WGS Reaper HP. Perhaps it's a great speaker but not the best choice for the origin. In a side by side comparison with the stock midnight 60 the creamback m65 sounded much nicer. It made the origin sound more vintage.
Everybody thinks you need a big magnet to sound good, its actually the other way around. I had a Vintage 30 and didnt like it at all. Im betting the Midnight 60 is more like a Greenback. also look at the cone, if its deep it has a different sound the the greenback, it will be more bass and may not be what your looking for as a British Sound.
That Midnight 60 sounds great!

I think the El Cheapo sounds great with the clean tones.
I love it. This thing sounds awesome.

Where can i buy El Cheapo?
😂😂😂
It has that scopped out mids metal tone from the 80's
I just ordered mine, it will arrive this week
Awesome sound from this midnight. I want two ;)
4:20 it sounds between the V 30 and the El Cheapo..
👍👍 great sound & won't break the bank ☺️
It has a great low mids.

I'm digging this.
Very surprised, I play mainly metal and the V30 is the "go to" speaker. I actually liked the midnight speaker better. Thanks for the video
I’m really considering getting my hands on a few of these for my 4x12. Worth it for metal compared to a V30 or a G12T-75?
I like it more than the vintage 30
El Cheapo sounds like a great black metal speaker. I kind of liked it, but the Midnight 60 sounds pretty good too.
Be dream be celestion speaker artist ❤ love your speakers
I’d like to see that versus the 7080

Hey do you have a link to that comparison? I ordered an Origin 50 and I have the Creamback from my old combo.
Hi, is this the 8 or 16 ohms version ?
It's all by itself, so 8 ohm probably.
That sounds better than cheapo and vintage 30.
You just sold me a speaker
sounds like cream, beautiful tone, the v30 sounds so harsh :(
V30 sounds slightly hollow ? I think I prefer the 60 to the 30……
Great playing. The cheapo was just fine, to me. :)

G12 t 75
🤓V30.....SUCKS.....MY REPLACEMENT SPKER WOULD DEFINITELY BE 🔊 G12T-75 🇬🇧👍
That is the worst speaker to be ever made by Celestion, even the no name speaker was way better.
