That was possibly the best tv episode I have ever seen. Flawless plot, flawless cinematography, flawless music, flawless acting, flawless script, and the fact that 99.999% of the plot exists off-screen and must be read between the lines is just so chilling. I.E. The original 13th doctor must've removed his clothes to dry starting the cycle of clothes for the ones who came after, resulting in us seeing the 4000 year iteration 13th doctor making a switch. An earlier iteration probably painted the portait of Clara thousands of years ago. The spade he found upstairs was used by the previous iteration to dig. The first iteration probably lasted a lot longer, due to not having the "bird" clue, and could've spent a long long long time figuring out the plan that was then put into action.
+chiffmonkey Actually the Clothes and the Bird plan are all based on the Bootstrap Paradox mentioned earlier in the series (e.g If they were left by a previous Doctor then he had no clothes to change into) guess they were priming us.
+Freshie207 Oh I see what you mean, so you're saying that the "bootstrap paradox" in that episode might actually have been solved by this one, that there could have been a catalyst to initiate an infinite loop? Was that Before the Flood? I'll have to rewatch.
+RandomGingerKing Well in order to put the clothes on the chair, the first Doctor must have been naked the whole days he spent on the castle :p Sadly we didn't see him..:
"If you think because she is dead I am weak then you understand very little. If you were any part of killing her, and you're not afraid then you understand nothing at all. So, for your own sake, understand this, I am the Doctor. I'm coming to find you and I will never ever stop!" "As you come into this world, something else is also born. You begin your life, and it begins a journey towards you. It moves slowly, but it never stops. Whatever path you take, it will follow - never faster, never slower, always coming. You will run, it will walk. You will rest, it will not. One day, you will linger in the same place too long, you will sit too still, you will sleep too deep. And when, too late, you rise to go, you will notice a second shadow next to yours. Your life will then be over."
Yeah indeed. I can see what you mean. Well, now he forgot her soooooo ... And I think that he never made his grief, because he lost his memories ... And so then his revenge, well, the same old same old.. Or maybe she'll reappear later on, and he will remember, who nose ?
his age at the end of the episode would've only been around 8000, because every 7000 years he died, and his age is around 2000, therefore the 3 billion is just a time paradox
+TheCorey Marks No he died every day (or weeks, something like that)
9 лет назад+1
+TheCorey Marks Exactly, the Doctor we've seen since the beggining of the episode wasn't the first one. (Remember the skull and the word "Bird" already written)
+Oswin Pond (John Smith) the doctor perceives time differently, i forget what episode it is but he says something along the lines of hes been there for a month or 2 but it only felt like an hour, so that 7000 years could've would've easily been 10000, don't quote me on this i am a very stupid person, i could totally be wrong with everything i just said, its just what i got out of season/series 9
+TheCorey Marks It's fine ^^ But I think you are wrong indeed. The first time jume we see on screen is between 7000 and 12 000 years (so he would have lived for 5000 years) But even so, he could have lived for so long, in the Time of the Doctor he died from old age after 1100 years old (200 in The Wedding of River Song and 900 on Trenzalore) Besides, Rilson is right, we can already see thousands of skulls in the episode.
I know the soundtrack has been released, but I still prefer this with the sound effects of flies buzzing around. Just really conjures up the imagery in my head. I also really like your arrangement.
Thank you so much for uploading this. I have listened to it countless times already whilst doing schoolwork or when relaxing. I think this is some of Murray Gold's finest work to date :)
Absolutely fantastic and spectacular music I have heard from a Doctor Who for so long...if not ever. Absolutely fantastic and spectacular music to go with an episode of the same calibre. Heaven Sent was the best episode of Doctor Who I had seen for years. This episode should have been the cliffhanger for the season.
I used to put this video on when I was driving home from work. I listened to it so much that when the music did get officially released it sounded wrong to me without Peter Capaldi's ghostly voice in the background
I actually listened to this while putting the touches on a scene and it was the PERFECT counterpoint to the emotions in that scene... Thank you for posting this. Definitely some of murray gold's finest music. and Peter was just brilliant. He absolutely shined in this series, in every single episode (Except the sleep dirt one) and he truly elevated Doctor Who under Moffat's watch.
4.5 Billion years later... My take on it is that each cycle was about 3 days from teleport to BIRD, that would mean that the Doctor died just short of 550 Billion times. "You musta think that's a helluva long time! ... Personally? I think that's a helluva bird."
If you think about it, heaven sent represents real life, repeating the same routine over and over, day by day, having to go through the same pain again and again, but forgetting the pain youv'e gone through in previous days. Each day seems to feel like your going through all that repition and pain for nothing, but slowly your getting there, where you want to be, untill finally you achieve your dreams, but it feeks hollow and empty, and its then too late. Then your life will be over. Oh my gooooood
Okay, a few episodes back i was already saying that (insert random epsiode here) made him my favorite. But no, it was this. He truly broke my heart but uplifted me at the same time.
Pseudonym Unidentified There is a mountain of pure diamond, it takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it. every hundred years a bird comes and sharpens is beak on the diamond mountain. once the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have passed!
I've been a fan of the show since the ninth doctor and one of the most compelling episodes I saw was the weeping angels, midnight, and finally this one. There have been amazing episodes don't get me wrong, but this one was a masterpiece, the ending made me feel a bit sick to my stomach and not in a bad way, I was affected emotionally, and to get that level of shock in you means the episode did it's job, it was about shocking you with the plot twist, and it did, it had me thinking about it so hard I couldn't sleep that night. This is by far the best episode of the entire saga. (At least from the ninth doctor forward)
People always get it wrong with Time Lords. We take forever to die. Even if we’re too injured to regenerate, every cell in our bodies keeps trying. Dying properly can take days. It’s why we like to die among our own kind. They know not to bury us early. I think, in my current condition, it’ll take me about a day and a half to reach the top of the tower. I think, if I’m lucky, I have a day and a half. I have to do this, clara. It’s the only way. I have to be strong.
This has got be one of my favorite "Doctor Who" episodes ever! Absolutely flawless in every way. Not to mention the incredible music in it. And personally I think BBC and/or Murray Gold should actually officially release this stunning piece of music and then play this whole suite live at the "Doctor Who Proms" or something like he did "I Am The Doctor" (but maybe that's just me, I don't know).
This episode was waaaaayyy too good for a Dr Who episode. It was too good to be a TV episode. It should have been a movie, and should have won an Oscar
This place kept reminding me of one of those Myst prison ages - mysterious symmetrical architecture, physics-defying giant gears, odd decorations, isolated, abandoned, placed in the middle of an endless ocean. The song that starts playing at 4:20 could really fit in Spire or Haven thematically.
It was 4.5 billion years, about the same as Earth's existence. He just edited his last 2.5 billion years because it would be too much for us. Most likely they will add it to the DVD (hint). Anyways I would nominate this for everything!
"You wait a moment, Doctor. Let’s get it right. I’ve got a few things to say to you. Basic stuff first. Never be cruel, never be cowardly. And never ever eat pears! Remember - hate is always foolish…and love, is always wise. Always try, to be nice and never fail to be kind. Oh, and….and you mustn’t tell anyone your name. No-one would understand it anyway. Except…. Except….children. Children can hear it. Sometimes - if their hearts are in the right place, and the stars are too. Children can hear your name. But nobody else. Nobody else. Ever. Laugh hard. Run fast. Be kind. Doctor - I let you go."
+DoctorWho2999 Because everytime he realized what the situation is, what he has to do, that his first iteration arrived 7000 years ago it was too late -- the Veil has already come in and cornered the Doctor. It has happened like this all the time, in every instance. If he knew what is in Room 12 he would certainly have brought the shovel and other items as well -- but the realization came too late everytime. That's why he was so upset: "That's when I remember! Then, always exactly then!". Hope you understand -- because English is not one of my strongest skills.
+DoctorWho2999 the shovel would actually be a lot worse than his hand, the wall was 600x stronger than diamond. Timelords are actually very physically strong, although we don't see it utilized very often.
7:35 - Boo! There is clearly unfiltered spoken lines by Capaldi kept in this one, I just want the music. How can the rest often be of such good quality, if stuff they spoke at that part in the episode had to be filtered out as well, anyway?
I always thought it was super eerie how *SPOILERS* you realize that this has been happening for the last 7 thousand years and that your only seeing one of the many many many repeats of the events. +Zuber Commodore There are a lot of things in this episode that harken back to the bootstrap paradox that the Doctor mentioned in an earlier episode. Who composed Beethoven's fifth?
Somebody give Murray Gold an Oscar or something
+SteamMoose yes, and Capaldi a BAFTA!!
+SteamMoose I think Steven Moffat needs to submit this episode to the emmys for sure!
+SteamMoose Somebody Blow Murray Gold

+chiffmonkey i agree it was a great episode
+RandomGingerKing Indeed, it was not a bootstrap paradox.
There is a beginning (With a sexy Doctor naked!) and an end.
+RandomGingerKing Well in order to put the clothes on the chair, the first Doctor must have been naked the whole days he spent on the castle :p
Sadly we didn't see him..:
"If you think because she is dead I am weak then you understand very little. If you were any part of killing her, and you're not afraid then you understand nothing at all. So, for your own sake, understand this, I am the Doctor. I'm coming to find you and I will never ever stop!"

The opening to that episode gave me chills. and one of my favorite episodes
I think this episode was too big for tv.
agree totally :D
Definetly
Personally, I think that's one hell of a soundtrack
I think this was better then the finale to be honest
+123ocelot The finale and the previous episode were probably just excuses for this particular one.
However, it was worth it
+Peter Korman I think when they filmed them they did not know that we would find them brilliant, see my point ? They tried and it was worth a shot.
Yeah indeed. I can see what you mean. Well, now he forgot her soooooo ...
And I think that he never made his grief, because he lost his memories ... And so then his revenge, well, the same old same old.. Or maybe she'll reappear later on, and he will remember, who nose ?
+Gauthier Le Roux (Rhosgobel) i see what you did there
This episode was phenomenal this music just made it that much better.
I think that is one hell of a bird.
2 Billion years... Thats one persistent Doctor
his age at the end of the episode would've only been around 8000, because every 7000 years he died, and his age is around 2000, therefore the 3 billion is just a time paradox

And yep, best Murray Gold's episode with The Rings of Akhaten !
Absolutely fantastic and spectacular music I have heard from a Doctor Who for so long...if not ever. Absolutely fantastic and spectacular music to go with an episode of the same calibre. Lol same. It took me so long to get used to not have Capaldi's ghostly voice and the glass breaking in the music.
5:15 reminds me so much on Davison era music
Seriously this episode was just like a great addition to this incredible soundtrack.
I actually listened to this while putting the touches on a scene and it was the PERFECT counterpoint to the emotions in that scene... Thank you for posting this. Harry Oldaker yes
Harry Oldaker Thanks
I love Peter Capaldi.
Thank you for this masterpiece, Murray Gold.

that little FM melody @ 5:28 really fit him examining the painting.
The school year begins again. The loop resets. It's time to get back to my Wall.
How many seconds... in eternity?
Haha XD

This music gives me shivers! Absolutely loved it in Heaven Sent
I love the musical nod to classic Who when he finds the clothes drying by the fire.
I loved how they used I am the Doctor in here
Yes ! It seems to be a final episode tradition
+Oswin Pond (John Smith) Where are you hearing I Am The Doctor?
90% of the theme is composed of I am The Doctor variation or as Murray called it "This Time There's Three Of Us"
DoctorWhoInfinity which part on this video?
Cyber Venom7 I think they're talking about the 12:00
This instantly became my favorite doctor who episode to date when it aired.

10:15 - love this part
Best part :p
Thank you for putting the time for that! Such a good song to transpose to piano too! :D
Patrick Kerr If you're going to post a video of you playing it, be sure to share the link here!
+Oswin Pond Ooo that'd be a good idea! It would be on my other channel which has all my music stuff on! But i'll be sure to link it if/when I do it!
Great!

[SPOILERS]
The real genius of this episode is that you could watch it over and over again, and imagine following the next cycle of events.
Now I don't feel so bad watchin the same episode 10 times in a row.
That minor lift at 13:20. Chills every time.
This was such a phenomenal episode. One of the best in years....then there was the finale. .-.
This episode was waaaaayyy too good for a Dr Who episode. It was too good to be a TV episode. It should have been a movie, and should have won an Oscar
Just listening to this makes me cry.
"You may think that's a very long time to wait but personally I think that's one heck of a Bird"
Rory Williams likes this.
1:20 GOOOD SHIT THATS SOME GOOD SHIT RIGHT THERE
That line in the strings at 7:15 though 😭😭😭 *weeping*
A billion thank you's for uploading this!
quite avant garde with all the sfx drowned out in the background. nicely done.
I can't wait for the official season 9 music release. i'll be listening to it for days!
Thanks man you're awesome for posting this so quick

Nice editing bro thats amazing thx for the relaxing music
Thank you for this, trully! Awesome!
I wish they could release Series 9 OST ASAP
Shih Han Hung It's happeninnng
This was the best episode I've seen in 9 years. Together Face the Raven, this and Hell bent were absolutely EPIC.
The WHOLE CREW should be given like 10 Oscars each. I just loved that episode!
11:53 It will be a very sad day, when Murray Gold quits Doctor Who...
Thomas welcome to that day 😔
"You wait a moment, Doctor. Let’s get it right. I’ve got a few things to say to you. Basic stuff first.

I want to buy it so I keep coming back to RUclips. hurry up and release the damn album BBC!!!!
adriemeer I feel bad for you
Music from this episode was truly spectacular! Murray Gold's finest in a while!
I wonder why he didn't bring the shovel to destroy the wall easier...the doctor always needs a companion! XD
+DoctorWho2999 Because everytime he realized what the situation is, what he has to do, that his first iteration arrived 7000 years ago it was too late -- the Veil has already come in and cornered the Doctor. perfection
I found the music! It's "We are the doctors" in the day of doctor. Finally find it
Start from 2:20
This episode won't work without Murray Gold's most brilliant music here! It is phenomenal
Needs a name... Twelve Times Eternity?
This is an excellent story but I don't think it would work without murray's music
Espectacular
Tears a lot...
can't wait for the soundtrack to come out
6:28 , 6:42
12's Theme! (it probably secretly appeared previously, but this is it straight up)
So so good!
Whenever I remember all the things I lost, this track comes to my lips...
All my friends...
All those moments...
7:15
7:35 - Boo! There is clearly unfiltered spoken lines by Capaldi kept in this one, I just want the music.
How can the rest often be of such good quality, if stuff they spoke at that part in the episode had to be filtered out as well, anyway?
Oh wow 12's regeneration music is from here
4.5 billion years.
I wonder why this music is still unreleased. It is one of the best musics by Murray Gold in DW so far.
Because he doesn't have time to deliver the soundtrack to Silva Screen due to his new son!
Thank you for answering! :) I didn't know he had a son
released now!
It's not :(
in the latest episode?
He has been there for 4 and half billion years. And he could get out of there when ever he wonted!
Love the soundtrack
This makes me really really really want the series 9 soundtrack!
doctorwhofan98 Yes, maybe someday it will actually be released.
Personally, I think that's a hell of a bird.
Can anyone besides me here "Song for Fifty" in the beginning!?Chilled me straight to the core when I noticed it.
He really. loved him. some. Clara though.
The bit from 5:28 to 5:36 sounds like it came from Classic Who.
best ever music
BBC, sell this to me.
The part at approximately 5:12 sounds so familiar, can anyone tell me if it is from another song??
Anyone else think this is Beethoven's finest work? (Obviously it's not, but my favourite Murray Gold since Madame de Pompadour)
That portrait of Clara is haunting.
"The Shepard's Pie says..."
Truly the most beautiful part is 7:15
I always thought it was super eerie how *SPOILERS* you realize that this has been happening for the last 7 thousand years and that your only seeing one of the many many many repeats of the events. It's like some messed up, creepy version of groundhogs day. For me, at least, it made me think of the super good twist it is that this isn't the first time he's done any of this.
My thought. was how very. much he loved that girl(Clara).
In the picture where he is falling, looks like he is falling off the supports for the capital of Gallifrey.
I love this part 0:35 - 1:00
did anyone upload the the music from the part where he finds a fireplace and his clothes?
This episode was too grand for just tv, especially so called fans complaining that they don't get it. Just think!
ITS FINALLY COMING OUT (27TH APRIL 2018)
Duty of care indeed.
We see the doctor took some clothes at the beginning, which were put there by his predecessor..
But the first doctor hasn't got any double.
Does that mean he walked naked?
+Zuber Commodore Haha maybe at one point he left them to dry and got distracted
Yes, but keep in mind this isn't all of his clothes, but his jacket and pants and shoes. He would likely be wearing some undergarments and not be completely naked.
Cyber Venom7 But does he wear undergarments though?
+Zuber Commodore I'm pretty sure, or at least he wears something besides what we saw being put on. He at least has some sort of underwear he's wearing, and I think he has an undershirt. Oh well, I think only River would know ;)
+Zuber Commodore There are a lot of things in this episode that harken back to the bootstrap paradox that the Doctor mentioned in an earlier episode. Who composed Beethoven's fifth?
5:50 - Damn...
There's an interesting "call back" to the 1980s Radiophonics music in the bedroom, though I'm not sure why it's there.
Probably because 80's who had a lot of it.
This was an aMAznig episode!!!
1000th like :)
7:19 * starts cry *
What is the music in 10:17
+the Doctor Breaking the Wall ruclips.net/video/dLzC7lnyiZc/видео.html
But it's not an official title. The track isn't released yet.
Thx
During one shot of the Capitol during Hell Bent, there was another city to the right. Was that Arcadia?
