The irony of having (EUC) chargers in the trunk but not being able to charge your car. No excuse for these superchargers to not provide power for cooling the packs and the cabin, until it's safe to charge fast-ish
Not the first car to have trouble in extreme hot weather. Old ICE cars used to vapor lock. It would have be interesting to know if other BEVs had your same issue.
Crazy that Superchargers don't automatically lower the amperage in such hot weather. Or even that you can't adjust it manually, instead of hunting down a regular outlet?
I am confused, did you call Tesla? I have a 6 year old Model 3 and have never had this problem. Hybrid was suggested instead of pure EV are you thinking of going that way?
You should know better than to pull up in a trailer park on a tesla stealing their electric lol. Trust me, ive lived in a ghetto trailer park when i was kid. They throw rocks at anybody that stands out even the slightest
I stopped using shorts due to that pinching don't know if it was what happened also to you with your knee protectors. With pants at 44c tho, dunno wth to do
EV won't super charge in Chicago cold and Vegas heat. I have an EV and took it on a road trip once. It was so stressful I don't do road trip on EV anymore.
@@djwhiteflour No offense but you should do some homework before coming to premature conclusions. Google BYD Qin & Song vehicles. Either will give at least 100kms on plug in & 1-2k (ya you read correct 1000 - 2000 kms) on a single tank. No doubt it's not as economical as all electric but then, I won't die in desert if my car won't charge nor have to run around looking or begging others to help with charging. IMO ofcos
@@scottsum1319 I know they make some pretty economical EVs though. Did I see semi-solid state batteries just today and BYD in the same article. I believe that some Chinese automakers have batteries coming out that have gel electrolytes and promise 1000km, faster charging. And soon. Pretty cool times we live in. Solid-state is supposed to make a full charge in 15 minutes. Of course we will have to pay double for them if we want the Chinese version now.
@@djwhiteflour Yup. Question remains how much their cars will be when its here. FYI their very well received (worldwide) BYD Seagull sells for $10k with 300km range & $12k for their totl 400km model. I'd def be a player for 1 if thats the pricing so we'll see
I’ve had my bms on my y fail completely. Couldn’t charge level 1, 2, or 3. They had to swap the entire pack, took 3 weeks. Covered under the 8y warranty but still was insane. And lucky I wasn’t on a trip. At least I got a performance for a loaner!
I hope more people wake up to the fact that EVs for trips is the dumbest idea ever invented. Little scooters and eucs fine. But EVs like Tesla are a huge waste in every aspect. Is ehy people are getting rid of them and cyber trucks are a joke
@@roghaj the costs down the road from bad batteries I hear is a nightmare and the costs upwards of $20+ grand is atrocious. In vast majority of occasions you don't need to dry out all the juice from batteries. It's actually very strange when it happens to someone. Even Roger in this occasion managed to avoid that.
I love a good adventure video. Thanks Roger 👍 Really sorry you had a lousy day and missed all the riding opportunities for the weekend.
Better be careful. He’ll disable your car permanently if you criticize him at all.
Brilliant - it's not the perfectness of the experience that makes the adventure, it's the triumph over adversity and proper explorer spirit ! :)
That was a really fun watch, you should do it more often!
I wonder what that semi driver going 49mph was thinking about you on his bumper? Nice work on getting it home, keep us posted on the problem!
Keep that Prius to the right! 😉 Lol j/k. Glad you made it back safely 👍

we have the most charge stations in any other state and it's ridiculous how many are broken or haven't been repaired in years

crazy to me that this can happen even with a Tesla that isn't a hacky one like mine! Sorry you had go through that .. I can sympathize!

What sucked is watching hundreds of other people come and go with no issues in the same heat.
@@roghaj Did you try the wet towel on the charging handle trick? It might cool down the sensor in the charging handle.
Dang Roger, you sure are making the case for a Chinese Hybrid aka BYD rather than a pure eV. Anyhoos glad you're still breathing 😅
BYD are EVs not PHEVs, pretty certain. Hybrids are overly complicated for too little battery.

Make a Roger Charger for Teslas
Just like the K6 🤦🏼♂️
The many and I do mean many hazards of owning an Electric Car, not bad luck just a crap product.

There was a woman recently that couldn't get out of her Tesla car because it ran out of power. I will stick to gas cars or at least hybrids.

All Teslas have a manual release for each door. Unfortunately the woman did not know how to properly use her vehicle. It's in the manual.
Bruh save yrself a headache and rent a car that runs on petrol ⛽️ 😅. Charge this to experience 😝 not a supercharger 😌
